Just bought two tickets in Section 312 (50 yard line) through ticketmaster. Not sure if this has already been posted, but, with all the talk of this (and most other early home games) being sold out, thought it might be of interest.

"Don't say anything to the guy ahead of time, but if you do take him to small claims court, lawyers are NOT allowed." This may be true in some jurisdictions, but most WNY small claims courts allow attorneys to be present and to represent you.

will the game be televised any where?

Great Post Avenger I'll start with this - I may be the only one to admit it on this board, but I like a lot of what Sullivan has to say. In response to the original post asking whether Sullivan has ever "tilled a field" or "practiced medicine" (??) - how would doing such things give a sports writer "license to criticize"? I guess we should just get rid off all editorial writers then, since it is their job to criticize yet NONE of them have "set up charitable foundations". And most of the other things you requested Sullivan do before he criticize are just JOBS done by people with the same motives as Jerry Sullivan has in doing his job: Teachers teach to make a living for their family. Doctors practice medicicne to make a living for their family. Lawyers practice law to make a living for their family. Water-pipe-fixers fix pipes to make a living for their family. (I could go on but I think you get the point.) Jerry Sullivan editorializes to make a living for his family. Althought there may be a bit more nobility involved in the choice to become a doctor over a sports columnist if the person is genuinely choosing medicing b/c he wants to help people, I truly feel that in a city like Buffalo where football is religion and oftentimes the only thing that some people have to hold on to, a sportswriter HELPS them in a certain way that a Doctor or Lawyer never could - they give people something to talk about which gets their minds off of all the other crap going on in their lives. And, as its already been said, if you don't like Sullivan don't read him. Just b/c its in the paper doesn't mean you have to read it - if you need something else to do to fill your time, there's a field I know that needs some tilling.

Good Restaurants near Holiday Inn Hamburg??
Mr. Sparkle replied to BB27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hoak's is a great place for a fish fry - plus its only a three minute drive from Holiday Inn - Hamburg. -
Thanks to everyone for all the advice - these links/suggestions are great and just what I was looking for. Keep em coming. I had one other question too - After Charlotte, we are going to visit some relatives in Chattanooga, TN. We will be driving and the mapquest directions send us all the way south to Atlanta before heading up to Chattannooga. It looks like mapquest is directing us south to avoid the mountains. This may be a dumb question, but is there a quicker way to get from Charlotte to Chattanooga without driving through Atlanta? Thanks again for any help!

I golf rarely and very poorly. And in any event, bc my girlfriend will be there, this won't be a golfing vacation. Thanks anyways!

Why don't you tell me how you really feel? J/K - thanks for the advice - I was hoping that North Carolina wasn't so South as to be "Deliverance" South. I guess maybe I was wrong.

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Raleigh and then Charlotte for a few days in the middle of August. I know there are a bunch of people on the board that are from North Carolina - any thoughts on things to do, places we should definitely see, etc.? (by the way, part of the reason we are going down there is bc we are thinking about moving - we want to see what our options are outside of Buffalo for obvious reasons.) Thanks in advance!

This one looks like it works: Link to each state's individual database -
PNAC official website an anti-PNAC website even-handed wikpedia entry on PNAC long video on PNAC's effect on Bush's war plan Generally, the PNAC is a bunch of neoconservatives (including Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, etc.) that want a form of global imperialism to be a paramount goal of American foreign policy. This involves doubling the military budget and engaging in unilateral military action in foreign countries without provocation if it means that American ideals can be spread and we can gain access to the quckly depleting natural energy materials. Now, this is obviously not a complete explanation (and admittedly a biased one) but read the links and you will have a more complete idea of what the PNAC is all about. To me, it looks like it is hard to deny that Bush is following more of a PNAC agenda than a Republican one and, as a result, I'm concerned about the country's future. America is not meant to be an imperialist war state. I believe that the agressive nature of the PNAC agenda will only serve to embolden the terrorists. I'm not saying that we shouldn't do what needs to be done to stop them, but we should be careful to only do what needs to be done - the fear of terrorism should not be a free pass for Bush to invade at will. If Bush is really using 9/11 as an excuse to implement the spread of neocon PNAC policy, I think the terrorism problem will only get worse. There is a whole other argument to be made against implementation of a PNAC-themed foreign policy - based on the negative effect it will have (is having) on the American economy - but I think this post is already long enough.

Maybe our good friends from the north will come through and air it on CBC/CTV?? (I don't think people will mind too much if they tape-delayed Degrassi High in favor of the NHL lottery.)
-
I agree that eveyone having a chance at #1 is stupid (and if Detroit gets it, the whole thing is a complete joke) but why shouldn't the sabres have one of the best chances? They haven't made the playoffs since 2000-01 and that's saying alot in the NHL where everybody makes the playoffs.
-
Ron MacLean has a "funny feeling" the Sabres will get Crosby. Its not much, but I'll take it. link Looks like the lottery is this Thursday (July 21). I haven't heard if it will be televised, but the NHL would be insane not to.

Do those of you here that support Bush consider yourselves supporters of the PNAC as well? As critics say Bush is a mere pawn of Wolfowitz, Cheney, et al., (and thus a pawn of the PNAC) do Bush supportsers argue against it? Do they even make a distinction or are they ok with the idea that Bush may have this PNAC agenda?

FYI - When people use the word "toilet" in Europe, they are often referring to the bathroom itself and not the actual bowl. So I imagine this article is just saying that they found traces of coke in different areas of the bathroom, not on the actual toilet.

Medium is awful. I've never wanted to strangle somebody more than Patricia Arquette. Speaking of worst ever, the worst thing I have ever heard (in any media) is the Heron's Landing radio ad played incessantly on WGR. Because I don't have a gun to shoot the radio, I have vowed to merely change the channel every time I hear it. Who are the ad wizards that came up with this one? Ad exec: "I know, lets put together something with a high pitched bird squawk played every three seconds in between listing all the crap we sell. And not just any high pitched squawk - lets make one that sounds like nails on a chalkboard and that will guarantee that everyone who hears it will want throw themselves into traffic to make it stop." Reasonable employee: "Won't that alienate listeners, make them angry, and, as a result, make them not want to come to Heron's Landing?" Ad exec: "You're fired. Let's get the bird squawk thing done!"

There was a Buffalo Literary Walking Tour last summer offered on Saturday mornings at 11:00. I'm not sure if they are still doing it but its an interesting tour that shows Buffalo's connections to Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Herman Melville, among others. I'm not sure what your friend is into but, if he's into great literature, this would be a good way to spend a Saturday morning. The number for info is (716)826-0897.
