  1. We've said we're not going to keep him at this salary. You see that? That's the leverage going out the window.
  2. I think that this is a very deep TE draft and we can get a very good prospect in the second or third rounds.
  3. Because Ralph doesn't want to write a $7 million check.
  4. JP was supposed to win 10 games for us, one more than Bledsoe. I'm not sure who was expecting 15 wins or a Superbowl last season. Absolutely right. I was just saying that the expectations of him were not unrealistic at the beginning of the seaon. Yes, plenty of QBs would've won a few more games. There's a piece by kilgore today that points to two plays that would've resulted in wins. Everyone on this board is aware of the circumstances. We know that Big Ben wouldn't have won the Superbowl last year if he QBed the Bills. Still, even with those reduced expectations, JP did not succeed. With everything you listed there, JP was a disappointment.
  5. All McNabb does is rinky-dink passes. That is why his completion percentage is so high. Rookie mistakes? That's generous. Accuracy is not a rookie mistake. Misreading defenses is a problem that can be fixed, but is definitely not easily correctable. The team was 9-7 in 2004. Exactly who was he saving? Basically, the reason he replaced Bledsoe was the bar was set so low, the thinkingwas he couldn't possibly be worse.
  6. I agree about Denver making out great in this trade. I think the Jets did well, too, all things considered. I don't know about teams undervaluing 1st round picks, though. I'd bet no more than 10 players from this year's 1st round turn out to be better players than Abraham, and yet he only fetches the 29th pick. Yes, there are cap reasons for wanting a rookie over a fifth year, but cap reasons are notoriously overstated.
  7. JDG, I think your post deserves at least one serious response. I agree that it is not worth much to compare JP to other QBs because there is pretty much an example out there to prove anything. I think the only way to judge a young QB is on what you've seen from him, and it just seems that even the plays JP gets right, its like the old saying about the broken clock. I just don't see it. I hope it shows up, and it's definitely possible that the light will turn on this summer, but Marv and Co. had better know what they're doing in cas it doesn't.
  8. Lenny P has a piece today where he says he's really 290.
  9. I seem to remember a Sports Illustrated where he has a hot girlfriend, a volleyball player...
  10. We the board criticized TD for one reason - he did not win. Don't make it any more complicated than that.
  11. It will improve with the new stadium.
  12. That's what worries me most - the pick spent on Rodgers the next year.
  13. Or he doesn't see in JP what he saw in Kelly.
  14. I doubt it too, but...the investment is not Levy's, so I don't think that will affect his decision. And the potential is subject to debate. Obviously, if Levy trades him, he doesn't see that potential.
  15. Nall's career rating is more than double JP's! Make him the starter today!
  16. When was this list last updated?
  17. I think the reason for them to wait is because the longer it takes for them to match it, the longer it stays on the Bills' cap and off theirs. it's not much, but what's the rush for them to match it?
  18. Are we signing him to play gurad or center? We have both our starting guards from last year (bad as Bennie is) and a left tackle better suited to play inside. On the other hand, we lost our starting center and don't have anyone else on the roster who has played there.
  19. I find it even more depressing that we're not as attractive a place to play as Green Bay. I think that has to make us the leat attractive team in football, who also happens to be pretty cheap. That's depressing.
  20. Astro, lovely theory. If that happened, I would jump at Bunkley at 18. Why is Philly drafting a quarterback? Is having another QB flop worse than having another OT flop? I don't see how. Nobody is a can't-miss, and that includes linemen.
  21. Maybe, and stick with me on this one for a minute, he won't suck.
  22. Or our new coach next season.
  23. Nice sentiment. I think the problem, though, is that this board saw Pickett in the latter category. We're not even getting the quality players to round out the roster, let alone stars. If that is what Marv is trying to do, he's not even doing that.
  24. The question is would you still be saying this if JP was a 5th round pick? Forget the flashes that you say JP has shown - that's for a different argument - the fact is that JP being a former 1st round pick has no bearing on Marv's decision. Marv is looking at him objectively, evaluating him for the first time. And maybe (likely, according to the author of this piece) he never would've selected him in the first round. It's not all that shocking that Marv could think JP doesn't have it - we have no reason to think he ever did!
