  1. And the Lexus SUV hybrid gets awful mileage. But if you want to look for hypocrites, look no further than the new house John the Populist built.
  2. At first I thought it looked crazy. Adding up the draft value chart, that would equate McGahee to a mid-2nd round pick. So not as crazy, but I still can't see the Giants going for it.
  3. I drive from Manhattan every game. Let me know if you need a ride.
  4. I don't understand - how would a contract structured like that not guarantee a holdout after two seasons? And what does this say about how the team views kelsay vs. Denney and Hargrove?
  5. You're wrong in that we already have all the flexibility we need. Spending less now does not guarantee spending more in the future. (In fact, you can probably argue spending less now will lead to spending less in the future, but that's besides the point.) We can prorate crazy bonuses - in your words - and still have cap room next season, and the season after, and the season after...
  6. My mistake. ESPN was listing defensive stats for some reason.
  7. He was a first round pick and has missed at least six games each of the past two seasons. But other than that...
  8. Or you're left with a player with a fire under his butt who has been told he's not good enough to be here who wants to prove his critics wrong. You never know.
  9. I'm talking about every team besides the Colts. For example, the 4-12 Jets that made te playoffs. Or the 3-13 Saints who made the conference championship. Or the Ravens. The point is just because you didn't make the playoffs does't mean you couldn't have.
  10. Yeah, but that wasn't the question. Every team beside the Colts failed to some extent this season. Does that mean they should've traded away all their potenial free agents before the season? Of course not! You play to win. It's a simple as that. If you end up not winning, then you don't say, well, we shouldn't have tried.
  11. Sorry, I'm usually pretty level-headed, but don't you remember the feeling leading up to the Titans game? Where we were 4-point favorites? Yeah, you know now we didn't make the playoffs, but I don't think you would've posted the same thing before that game. Hindsight is not terribly useful. Who do you want to pre-emptively trade this offseason? JP? Evans? Then you can guarantee we never make the playoffs again.
  12. I think Denver wins big in this trade. The Broncos would have a huge upgrade in running backs for a first round pick and a backup quarterback.
  13. OB1, you have to keep this in the context of a team that hasn't been in the playoffs this decade. If we were the Patriots and were whining about not winning the Superbowl in two years and having to spend on budget, it would be different. Also, you never know if this is just a ploy by Ralph to get more revenue sharing money, not an absolute necessity. Bottom line, how could any fan be happy with anything that doesn't help this team win?
  14. The way I understand it, season ticket money isn't due until May 1st, i.e. after the draft. Until then, the deposit is refundable. Any confirmation on this?
  15. Without seeing what he said, I'm assuming "teams like these" refers to big draws, i.e. the Cowboys and Giants, which is not the same thing as the harder teams. http://www.9wsyr.com/sports/story.aspx?con...7c-219ee222342b Yeah, that's what he meant. San Diego, for example, would not be a "big draw"
  16. Any ideas why the Dolphins should have more info on Quinn's strengths and weaknesses than other teams?
  17. I guess the Rams figured since he wasn't producing, no one would sign him for a fifth. Then he went to the Bills and started producing a bit more. But yes, interesting point.
  18. I don't know if that's the point. He cherry picks a lot. As he says, you won't find a ny good predictions in the column because that's not what the column is for, not because there weren't any.
  19. I'm pretty happy with the job Royal did, especially in the second half of the season. I think were it not for the play against Tennessee, this wouldn't be an issue right now. A fourth TD would've put him solidly in the top half of the league - and that for a team that didn't really throw too many TD passes. Daniel Graham had one fewer TD catch and four more yards (in four fewer games), so I don't see him as a huge improvement. I'd rather upgrade the second receier position, or fid someone who can catch passes out of the backfield - two areas where we were both poorer compared to the league than in TE production.
  20. Wade was put in an impossible situation as far as Flutie/Johnson. But I think the big mistake that Schatz is making is that he ignores the reason the Bills went 8-8 in 2000. With a 7-4 record and leading the (very good) Bucs in Tampa, our best player, Sam Cowart, goes down for the seaon, quickly followed by Sam Rogers, Keion Carpenter, and Antoine Winfield. In that game and the following two, we allow our three highest point totals of the season and drop four straight. We were a different team after. We went from a potential 8-4 and in good position for a divison title to middle of the pack. I've never held Wade accountable for that.

  22. Actually, i think it was because Big Pat was never drafted in the first place.
  23. The highest it could possibly be is a 3rd round pick, but it goes by net free agent loss, not individual loss.
