  1. 30% of luxury seating is a remarkable number. I wouldn't have thought it was anywhere near that high.
  2. He's not going to play the nose. He'll be their Justin Bannan.
  3. I don't have a problem with anything you said. I just propose we retire this 3-4 statistic. Yes, we went 1-6 (1-8 I thought, with the Cleveland and SF games), but we didn't lose to the Jets the second time because they ran a 3-4. We scored 27 points! We scored 27 points against Cleveland, and ran the ball up and down the field. We got into the red zone four times against the Niners. It wasn't because of the 3-4 that Lindell missed two kicks. We also didn't have a problem moving the ball up and down the field against the Fish in Miami until Reed went down and Edwards started making Losman-esque mistakes. We need a better center, but for all sorts of defenses. It's a coincidence more than anything else that the bad-luck moments of the season came against 3-4s, not some deeper weakness. And BTW, we could use a better center for 4-3 teams, too.
  4. It's actually worse than that, because if the Saints resign Vilma, the 2 they owe the Giants for Shockey becomes a 1. So, instead of being on the hook for a 2 and 3, they'd be on the hook for a 1 and 2. And that's why no one expects them to re-sign Vilma.
  5. Mr. Bot, I don't know if you do your own scouting or just base your picks on website rankings, but Kiper has Maybin going 8th overall, Scouts Inc. has him 8th, and Don Banks has him going 15th in his mock, ahead of Brown. Why is he going 56th in your mock? The little I've seen of the draft this year, he looks like the best pass rusher of the group.
  6. Top tight end drafted in the last ten years: 2008. 30-Keller 2007. 31-Olson 2006. 6-Davis 2005. 30-Miller 2004. 6-Winslow 2003. 24-Clark 2002. 14-Shockey 2001. 31-Heap 2000. 14-Franks 1999. 42-Kelly I didn't vote, because I think it all depends on what we do in free agency.
  7. For those wondering what cutting Kelsay would save in actual dollars, the answer is 3 million. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...NFL&id=2278
  8. We just drafted an OLB from Iowa State and look how that turned out. j/k
  9. Did it also display how far off we are from finishing 9-7 in the weakest division in football?
  10. Especially when you factor in the premium of getting from the SB champs to a perennial loser in a small market.
  11. Agreed. I don't think there is anyone on this board that loves our defense. One point I disagree with Bowen on: the three top defenses are all capable of getting pressure with four (as were the Giants last year), which makes bringing five or more unblockable. He ignores that point.
  12. This is precisely what I'm hoping for.
  13. We were a missed field goal and a JP bootleg away from being a winning team. Don't you think you (and many others on the board) are being a bit dramatic? We're all frustrated. Stop whining.
  14. On the surface, I'd agree with you. I have no idea how much time they devote to special teams, so I can't say it's too much compared to other teams. As for roster spots, I think Moorman, Lindell and Neill are a given. Roscoe does bring something to the offense, so you couldn't count him as strictly a special teamer. As for Corto and Costanzo, it's hard to say if they would have even been on the roster had Crowell, Digiorgio and Bowen stayed healthy for the year. So, that leaves Wendling. According to todays Buffalo News, he was the highest-rated ST player, so maybe it's okay to keep one person strictly for special teams. But it would be nice if there was some possibility of him seeing the field on defense. I guess you could even add Jenkins to the list as a strictly STer.
  15. Reason to root against the Eagles: The Phillies just won. Can you imagine if Philadelphia becomes the new Boston?
  16. I want to see the Cardinals win solely to watch them struggle with where to hold the parade, ala the NJ Devils.
  17. You can rehash conventional wisdom with the best of them. But don't you hate it when facts get in the way? Rush offense ranking of the four remaining teams: 4, 22, 23, 32. Pass offense ranking of the four remaining teams: 2, 6, 17, 28.
  18. "It was not the reason we lost the game, but it was a mistake, an error.'' Fisher knows that.
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft According to ESPN, he's 250, Brown is 252, and Orakpo is 255. Not a big difference.
  20. McShay had him going 7th overall.
  21. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/bigten/0-2-1082...nter-draft.html Official announcement expected this week. I haven't seen this on the board yet. He'd be my pick from the DEs that might be available.
  22. I hear the Browns and several other teams will chase Denver special teams coach Scott O’Brien, who is one of the best in the NFL, not only coaching special teams but handling game management situations. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/0...rom-lombardi-4/ I hope Ralph reads this.
  23. But then they need a starting corner, who will cost more than a center. How about we let them sign Greer, they let us sign Brown?
