Oh geez, for some reason I thought I saw your avatar next to that post. Gotta stop drinking at lunch I guess.
It is part wishful thinking, but it's also a question of what else does he want to accomplish. Belichick always struck me from afar as someone with more going on in his life than just coaching football.
Alternatively, an answer such as he wants to be the first coach with five rings (or something along those lines) would have made sense. I was just wondering if there has been any talk about it.

Thanks.
FYI, the ESPN NFL page thinks you're chatting at 3:00.

Hey Tim,
I'll ask this in the chat later today, but in case it doesn't get answered ... I was wondering if you have any insight into how much longer Bill Belichick planned on coaching. I realize he will never be fired by Kraft, but is there any thought that he might want to take a break and step back from the demands of coaching in the NFL for a while? Is there any possibility that his tenure will end with Brady's? He's entering his 11th season in the same place, which I think gives him the second-longest stay (after Fisher) in one place.

I got that same picture, except mine has my name and not "Amy Sullivan" showing on the scoreboard.
Is it only for people who did not renew their tickets?
-
On the bright side, I think it takes Seattle out of the running for Locker.

T.O. never turned in the key, kinda like the 18 year old kid that tells his parents he's moving out, with no income and has no place to live, then figures out hes screwed has the key to the house and asks back in.
How do you know?
Is TO going to announce it, so that he can publicize that he failed to deliver?
Or is Mayor Brown going to announce it, so that he can publicize that he jumped the gun?

Any team with a decent QB knows who their starter is right now, new coach or not.
Any team with a decent QB doesn't have a new coach. It's no coincidence that the only other coaching hires are drafting in front of us and in the QB market.

If he was only tendered with a 5th round pick and is as good of a signing as many people on here believe, why have we not heard much about him since FA started?
I think that's right. The first clue is that Baltimore only tendered him at the 5th round level, pricing him to move. Also, look at the interest Charlie Whitehurst generated.
But you can apply such concerns to anyone - if Dwan Edwards was so good, why did Baltimore let him hit free agency and Denver and Seattle let him leave without making an offer? Why was Andra Davis released?

To me, Matthews' thoughts on the Bills are no more relevant than anyone's on this board -- and less than some -- until he actually shows up at RWS to cover a game. I'd much rather read Leo Roth. Just my opinion.
I don't think Maiorana or Roth can hold a candle to Wilson or Gaughan in terms of insight into the team.

I live in Rochester and you have to understand, the D&C is pathetic. They're down to maybe a handful of real reporters and no copy editors. The stuff is unreadable. It's a damn shame but the paper is simply lame. As a former Buffalonian, you don't know what you have until it's gone. The Buff News is a much better product.
I'm not trying to bash the paper, and I understand if they did. I live in NYC, and the papers have cut back on covering teams on the road. I just want to know.

Bills sign two free agents that are potential starters and all they run is the AP story? Anybody know what's going on? Lori?
-
for what it's worth, this Baltimore reporter is saying nothing is finalized, but there IS a deal and talks are continuing.
Note the details on Davis' contract - 2 years, $4.4 million. Quite reasonable and doesn't force the team to start him. Good contract.
-
in fear of muddying waters further, talks aren't done.
jw
So talks are ongoing?
-
Holdonaminnit!
IF you read the article, it states that ESPN is quoting this.
But if you go to ESPN, Graham is simply regurgitating Schefter.
This does not prove anything yet.
It's not Graham writing. They just put a picture of him up there to link to his blog.

I've had my seasons for 22 years, and I'd never move to the lower level...
Why? Value? Sightlines? I'm in 334 right now (for three years now) and am trying to move down between the 20s.

I love this if for no other reason than it provides competition, and players will actually have to play for their spots. . No more dick moron making Keith Ellison the "starter" and bringing in some UDFAs as "competition".
And it means no longer signing linebackers on Tuesday to start on Sunday (see Chris Draft).

I have no problem with speculation. In fact, I do it myself all the time. But when people read something that says "the Bills would be wise to get what they can for Whitner," then turn around and tweet him that "hey, so-and-so says you're getting traded," that's a misread.
But speculation is all Gailey is talking about, at least according to Gaughan's phrasing of it. He's not addressing twitter attacks.
Gailey put himself in this position by bringing back Wilson and Scott, and not exactly committing to starting Whitner. So yeah, I would expect speculation to continue.
-
No last i checked Rumor isn't fact.
Right, but I (and Gailey) am talking about speculation, not fact.
-
Re: Whitner, I know exactly where it came from: pundits theorizing that such a move might make sense, and some fans mistaking their speculation for inside knowledge of an impending deal.
So the fact that it makes sense isn't enough of a reason for speculation by itself?
-
I agree with you. I think his media statements are just posturing. Hopefully we can get a draft pick for him.
Posturing? To what end?
-
24 years and you never tried to move to the lower bowl?
-
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Quiet, he's on a roll.
-
Going from 24 to 9 is worth a late first rd pick.. Its like 600 points on the famous draft value chart. I'd swap seconds and give them a roster player (assuming they'd be interested in Schoebel or Whitner, which they most likely would not be)
FWIW, a number of mocks have the Eagles looking for a safety in the first, and you know who their new secondary coach is. Maybe they would be interested in Whitner.
-
Problem is he wants to start, which means he wants to be paid like a starter.
