I have to tend to agree with you on this whole Peters' situation. Here's the Eagle's picks for the upcoming draft. Round 1, Pick 21 (21) Round 1, Pick 28 (28) (From Carolina) Round 2, Pick 21 (53) Round 3, Pick 21 (85) Round 4, Pick 21 (121) Round 5, Pick 5 (141) (From Cleveland) Round 5, Pick 17 (153) (From New York Jets) Round 5, Pick 21 (157) Round 5, Pick 23 (159) (From New England) Round 6, Pick 21 (194) Round 6, Pick 22 (195) (From Minnesota) Round 7, Pick 21 (230) If we were to make a trade for with Philly then this is what I would like to see happen. Either they trade their #21 (1st rd) and #85 (3rd rd) or the #28 (1st rd) and #53 (2nd rd) for Peters. The compensation value is close to being the same but by the value chart scenario #2 is a little more costly for them so they might be willing to do scenario #1 more, which would be better for us because then we would have a much better chance of securing TE Brandon Pettigrew. Both scenarios equates to somewheres between the 15th-17th pick in the draft. That's pretty fair for Peters' value.

Between lacking picks and traditionally trading out, KC's GM Scott Pioli had some prospects come in that are projected to go late 1st/early 2nd rd. The problem is that they don't have a 2nd rd pick, they traded it for Cassel. Especially interesting is that LB/TE Connor Barwin is one of those prospects and Mike Vrabel, who is a Chief, would be a perfect mentor for him. Thinking about it I would like to see the Bills take Barwin, or someone like him, and use him in a dual capacity. Back to the potential trade up for the Eagles. Why would they schedule a visit for OL Eugene Monroe, who is safely a top 10 pick? More importantly, why is Pioli confident that they'll have the necessary picks for players like Barwin and Ohio St LB James Laurinaitis? Hmm, interesting, very interesting. BTW, I heard Jim Miller today on Sirius radio say that DT Glenn Dorsey is no way a NT and won't be able to be a DE in Pioli's new 3-4 defensive alignment. He went on to say that he fully expects him to be traded during this year's draft. He mentioned Atlanta as a possible candidate. I, of course, started getting my wheels turning on the idea of the Bills working something out for him. Now that I know that they don't have a 2nd rder this year, I wonder if they would take a 2nd rder in this year's draft and next year's 2nd rder for him. I just don't know if Pioli would trade with us due to the Bills being in his buddy's (Belichick) division but Atlanta would be a perfect trade partner for him though, they aren't even in the same conference. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/chiefs/story/1121758.html http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/2009...sit_Eagles.html

I think that that the Bills are kind of flying under the radar in some areas. I really like the young depth at the WR and OL positions. Renting TO for a year and Josh Reed getting up there a bit in age I think that maybe that if Hardy can progress and Stevie Johnson takes the next step that they can be our future. I'm not counting Roscoe because I really don't think that he'll be with the team this year but come 2010 I'd be happy with Evans, Hardy and Johnson as our starting 3 WRs. On the OL the future is looking pretty good with Bell, Chambers, Butler and Hangartner. I think that it's important that we draft a couple of quality OL this year because of the unsettleness of the Peters situation and, like Roscoe, I don't think that Walker is long for this team either.

If Peters really wants out and we have to trade him,

That's exactly what I was talking about. Did you overlook that I said to take OT Michael Oher with our first pick at #11? Well, regardless of who we get in the 2nd rd the point is that we would be able to compensate the loss of Peters with a lot of good young OL prospects. -
True, true but the guy is good.

Keep an eye on the Jets' Jerricho Cotchery, he's vastly underrated.

I was suggesting a trade for Green Bay's DL Aaron Kampman to fulfill that need. In the 2nd rd OG Duke Robinson could help solidify our OL. That's a good question. By what I can tell is North Carolina's TE Richard Quinn is the next best blocker. He's projected to go in the mid to late rds. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/profiles/ric...ft_RichardQuinn -

No, I'm wondering if fortifying the OL with as many blockers as possible could offset the loss of Peters. -

I'm discouraged that Peters wants to be in Buffalo and will sign a new contract. In the event that we have to trade him then here's a suggestion on how to offset this loss. The Packers are switching to a 3-4 defense and like other teams that are doing the same (*see Kansas City) they may not have the proper personnel to do so currently. DL Aaron Kampman is rumored to be available and I'm pretty confident that for the right compensation he is. It's nearly impossible for anyone to know exactly what Peters' worth is and what he will bring in trade but my suggestion is that if we are able to trade Peters for a 1st and a 3rd rder then we do the following. I'll use either the Detroit Lions (1st rd/#20, 3rd rd/#65 & #82) or the Philadelphia Eagles (1st rd/#21, 3rd rd/#85) as a barometer. Both could use a LT and can afford the picks to get one. Trade Peters to either the Lions/Eagles for the #20 or #21 (1st rd) and #82 or #85 (3rd rd) picks. In the 1st rd at the #11 pick we draft OL Michael Oher and with either the #20 or #21 pick we take TE Brandon Pettigrew. In the 2nd rd at the #42 pick we take OG Duke Robinson. We trade our original 3rd rd pick (#75) to Green Bay for DL Aaron Kampman. If this isn't enough compensation, and I'm sure that it isn't, then we also trade a progressive pick from the 2010 draft based on Kampman's 2009 production. We still have a 3rd rder from the Peters trade that we could use on the BPA (OLB Tyrone Mckenzie?). I'm not happy about trading Peters but if the guy doesn't want to be here and is going to disrupt the season then I guess the Bills will be forced to do so. I really hope that this situation can get worked out but it's looking dimmer and dimmer. I think that this type of draft/trade for us will cover most of our bases. We even could use our 4th rder for TE Tony Scheffler if need be. I do believe that the Bills want to win this season and are willing to do whatever is necessary to do so. -

Signing someone like DE Jason Taylor would allow us to do your scenario. I like it. -
Pettigrew is heralded for his blocking and I'm wondering if this would make us consider him all the more. If Peters wants out and we can't re-sign him then how confident will our braintrust be with our OL? Signing TO was great but not if we can't get him the ball. Could you imagine the rants on the sidelines if our offense sputters like years past?

I agree, anything more and we paid too much.

Bears get Cutler! He goes to the NFC.

No problem. I'll go on record now saying that I don't want a LB with our 1st pick unless it's Aaron Curry and THAT'S not going to happen. I'm back on the Maybin bandwagon again but we got to get this Jason Peters issue resolved first or I'm jumping back on the Michael Oher wagon. -

Now that Denver is in the trading mood maybe we should offer them a 4th rder for Scheffler to compensate them for the 5th rder that they just sent to Chicago. -

I don't remember posting anything about either player. I'm trying to figure out what you mean about me posting about them. The only LB that I would have liked for the Bills to have drafted would have been Patrick Willis but of course hindsight is 20/20. -

Good thing that Denver is in the AFC. Could you imagine if the Jets got Cutler??! What a nightmare that would be! -

Denver gets Orton. More details to come.
