Rate Russ Brandon Here...

A+. The guy is doing a fantastic job. He's cutting dead wood and getting players who want to play. -
We should't pick again until the 6th

I'm expecting the Bills to draft TE James Casey and trading some our players like Roscoe Parish and Ko Simpson to get back into the 4th rd a couple of more times. -
goddamnnn Byrd looks like a gamer

Not only did we get a prospect that may be a great future FS for us but our STs are still lethal. -
I think that New England sniffed it out and that is why they traded with Oakland for two picks in a row (#40 and #41). I think that they knew that we were going for a DB and that's why they locked up Darius Butler right before us. I'm wondering if that's who we really wanted at #42 and then were forced to go to plan B. It's funny, when the Raiders were on the clock and I realized that the Patriots were right in front of us, I started thinking that it would have been great for us to cash in on Ralph's friendship with Al Davis and trade with them and stick it to Belichick. Of course that didn't happen and that smug bastard Belichick made a nice move. I didn't even think about a CB at that point, I was wanting Connor Barwin and I thought that New England did too.

Just some thoughts before the draft...
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say that I shot about 50%. Most importantly I have been a supporter of Russ Brandon and there hasn't been anything that has made me regret it. I think the guy is razor sharp. -
..if the Chiefs trade out the #3 pick to the Patriots, then this would be collusion at it's finest and there needs to be a league investigation. ..as much as I would love to have TE Brandon Pettigrew on our team I just think that the TE will be addressed after we take a OG in the 2nd rd. James Casey is more realistic than Pettigrew at this point. ..the Bills will be a HUGE shaker in this draft. There's no way that Russ Brandon let all these holes get created and not have something up his sleeve to address them. ..all three players rumored to be on the market, Chris Kelsay, Roscoe Parrish and Ko Simpson, will be on other teams before today is over. ..our first pick will be someone on the defensive side of the ball. DE is our biggest need and we shouldn't be thinking nothing but addressing this position. ..this board will crash twice in the course of today. ..before this draft concludes the Bills will have drafted a Div II prospect. It's time to get back to the old days. ..I haven't heard a peep about the Dallas Cowboys during this whole predraft but I expect them to do something unexpected before today is over. ..New England cashes in their plethora of picks for a few high quality prospects and keeps their stranglehold on our division. ..Russ Brandon steps up today and shows EVERYBODY that he's for real. He has shades of a Polian. ..we are all going to be shocked and left scratching our heads after today but once the shock wears off in a couple of days it all starts making sense. ..I hope that this is the draft that turns the corner for us and this franchise because if we don't come out with some big time additions then it might be years before we can even think about competing for a play-off appearance. Enjoy the draft.

Well, I'm going down the tubes but I don't give a sh--,
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks fellas, I sure do appreciate that. That's the spirit Big Bad Boone, I feel the same way. We can enjoy tomorrow completely. Isn't that great?! Thanks BillsFan74 but don't worry, I'm a Bills' fan and in the words of the late great Tim Russert we have a way of picking ourselves up and dusting ourselves off. I'm not gonna lay down and neither are the Bills. Go Bills! -

Tip one for me. Go Bills! -
During these depressed times it's easy to wallow in misery but the Bills still give me a thrill. No matter what happens tomorrow, and I'm sure that I'll be shocked and disappointed, the Bills continue to be a bright spot in my life. I'm sure that I'm not much different than most, economicly maybe a lot worse off but I know this, I know that the majority of you maniacs are creaming your jeans about tomorrow. I hope that we all come away from this draft with a lot of satisfaction and optimism because it sure is needed! Enjoy the draft folks. Go Bills!

Give me your two somewhat surprise predictions
Tipster19 replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I'll play. First, the Kansas City Chiefs trade out of the 3 spot, definitely. My guess would be with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers so that they can draft QB Mark Sanchez. Secondly, the Cincinnatti Bengals draft OT Andre Smith. Next, the Green Bay Packers draft DE Tyson Jackson at the #9 spot. The Bills are one of the biggest, if not the biggest, shakers on draft day. First they take a DE with the #11 pick, my guess is Aaron Maybin. Once they secure their DE, the Bills trade this year's (#42) and next year's 2nd rders (?) to the Kansas City Chiefs for DT Glenn Dorsey. Before anyone pukes on this keep in mind that they just got rid of TE Tony Gonzalez for a future pick. Rumor has it that they are looking to package that pick to move up, same principle applies in this trade. In addition, Dorsey isn't ideal for the Chiefs new look 3-4 hybrid defense. The Bills aren't done though, they continue to be aggressive. Buffalo then packages the #28 pick, our 6th rder (#183) and DE Chris Kelsay to the Detroit Lions for their #20 pick and promptly select TE Brandon Pettigrew with it. The Bills do recoup a 2nd rd pick though by trading Roscoe Parrish and our first 4th rder (#110) to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who pick at the end of the rd (#64). Here the Bills draft OG Duke Robinson. -
I would like to take this time to apologize to you for being malicious and referring to you in a crude way. I'm getting away from the kind of person that I want to be when I resort to such things.

Look, he's a TE and teams will only draft that position just so high. In the last few years I think that this position only averaged 1 1/2 TE in the 1st rd. While Pettigrew is the best at his position this year, and I'm sure that there is several teams who have a strong interest in him, I think that he won't go before the #17 slot which is the Jets. Start there and try to figure out who would draft him. I don't believe the Jets, Buccaneers, Eagles, Falcons, Patriots and the Colts are in the mix. I know some of the teams that I mentioned are believed to be interested but I don't believe it that they will use their 1st rd pick for a TE. I think that the Broncos, Lions, Vikings, Dolphins and Ravens are viable threats and some of them more than the others. Barring someone trading up (Cardinals?) I think that the Ravens would be the most serious suitor for Pettigrew.

There's no problem with others not agreeing on what I'm saying. It's when the smart ass remarks take presidence over the subject matter. I respect your opinion, even if I don't agree with it. I just think that the Bills like his speed. I also feel like he's a good pick based on character, and yes I got that right from the talking heads, and potential. Kelsay hasn't brought anything to the table in these other areas that you have mentioned but he also doesn't get to the QB either. I believe that Denney is a rotational player that they can count on and if Maybin can come in on 3 rd downs in his first year to speed rush the QB then our DEs will be effective and THAT I thought up all by my little lonesome.
-
Hypocrite. Do you think people haven't read your comments from other posts? Here's your great "input" from my other post on my first round draft predictions. Matter of fact, you were the first one to respond to it and you couldn't bash it fast enough. You don't like my verbage? Too bad. Maybin's first step is what makes him effective, there's nothing else to talk about. Tell me what words I should use so I don't sound like everyone else. I have been touting Maybin for our DE pick now for several weeks because of his speed to the QB. Now recently Kelsay is rumored to be on the trading block, so why wouldn't he be one of the frontrunners for our selection at this position? Be careful on how you answer this, I don't want you to use other people's words. There are a few posters around here that just like to be argumentive, critical, condescending and just flat out be an @$$hole and you're one of them. I hope that someday I get the pleasure of meeting you.

Really? How do you know what I know? Seeing that you're so persceptive, why are you wasting your time on a message board? You should really be parlaying your intelligence into big money Einstein.

No doubt but when all things are somewhat equal defense should first and as great as Williams started off that Ware turned out to be a stud.
-
Good point. Maybe this is one of the reasons that Kelsay is available. Schobel, Ellis, Denney and a new prospect at DE (Maybin?) could be the new rotation that Brandon is looking for.
-
When the Buccaneers took Cadillac Williams it was between him and DeMarcus Ware. The knock on Ware was that teams thought that he was too "one dimensional". I wonder if they wished that they rethought that pick.
-
FWIW I believe Brandon. Our first pick we take Maybin and I'm a firm believer that we also land up with Pettigrew. I don't know if he falls to us at #28 or we're trying to trade some of our current players to be able to move up (Detroit?) to get in position to get him. I also think that we'll be taking OG Duke Robimson in the 2nd rd. These additions will make our OL work and we'll be built for the future with good young prospects.
-
It's Maybin all the way. The guy has a phenomenal first step with a ton of upside.
