I believe that it was mostly due to his cost, demeanor and of course Marv's big recommendation. In his first year he was given a mulligan and ended up with a 7-9 record. The following year the Bills gave a valiant effort after they were hit by the injury bug and then they had a great start in the first 6 games last year and the future was looking great but when last season ended with another 7-9 record his popularity took a severe hit. Needless to say that he needs to get the Bills in the play-offs this year or it's bye-bye to Jauron. Do you think that is fair or unfair? If he/Bills do make the play-offs and does fairly well, then how do you think the Bills' fans will perceive him? Do you think that the fans will still want to run him out of town? I'm asking these questions sincerely.

You're kidding me right or did that really go over your head? If you didn't recognize that as sarcasm then not even the great Belichick can help you! -

That's a great question. TO signed with Buffalo WITH Jauron as the coach. People need to wrap their minds around that and deal with it. It's like there's a big percentage that are just waiting for things to fall apart for Buffalo. Did it ever occur to people that this relationship with Jauron and TO just might work? -

Ouch! Watching that video made me realize just how fantastic of a coach Bill Belichick really is. He's truly a genius and we're light years away from ever catching up to him and the Patriots. What is even worse is the flipside to that. I now also realize what a crappy HC Dick Jauron really is. I think Jauron should get fired just on that play alone! Poor Dockery, it wasn't his fault, Jauron didn't coach him up like he was suppose to. -

No Dean that may be what you use or say when you lose an argument or have nothing else to say but when that happens to me I usually say FU. I'll tell you what I don't understand. I don't understand why you're posting on a thread like this. You can't have it both ways. Either Moss can play or can't play on a team. Seems to me he showed that he can while on the otherhand TO has showed that no matter what team he's on it's just a matter of time before he starts pulling his antics. There's no doubt that the lockerroom and coaching staff is stronger in New England but he would of never have made it in New England simply because he has shown that he has NEVER been a team player. Btw, your first paragraph is loaded with an awful lot of maybes. I don't believe that Jauron is going along with anything. I believe that Jauron has no choice or say in the matter IMO. I agree, if the Bills would have been a play-off team then I would seriously doubt that they would have signed TO. Why? Because he's NOT a team player and if your team is successful then there is no need for a non team player no matter how good he is. Nice try, that's not what you said or meant. Quoting you, "and maybe most important, to offset the fact or blindside fans of the fact that still retained a sub-par coach for another season." I agreed with your first two points about why the Bills signed TO but this third part is ridiculous. Jauron is still coaching the team regardless of TO. He's still the coach simply because Brandon purged certain non working players with some upgrades and he's still evaluating Jauron and the situation to see if these upgrades are the difference and if Jauron can do a better job. If Jauron can't improve his coaching and/or the team's success this year, then yes, I believe Jauron stands a great chance of getting the boot at the END of the 2009 season. -

Some things have changed since then Sisyphean Bills. No matter what happens this year we need to give this situation a little more time to make sure of what we have and don't have. -

I think that Moss displayed in the past that he can play in the framework of a team (Minnesota). I also don't remember Moss demanding the attention and the ball like TO has shown at every stop he's been at. I never said that Buffalo has the better coaching staff OR that Belichick/New England isn't a great program. What I said was I believe Jauron, his demeanor and the situation in Buffalo is better suited for someone like TO than it would be with Belichick and the team concept that is intact over in New England. You said yourself, either you go with the program or they'll kick his ass out. Guess what? TO would have got his ass kicked out if he were in New England. So how would TO have been more successful under Belichick/New England than Jauron/Buffalo??! You're making this easy. I think you're pretty accurate on your first two accounts on why TO is in Buffalo and that is to sell tickets and give Evans some relief. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT? As far as to blindside fans to the fact that they can retain a sub-par coach is hysterical. LOL! You don't really mean that, do you? Do you?? -

First off let me clarify that I'm not convinced one way or the other on how qualified Jauron truly is. I believe, as many others here do, that this year determines Jauron and his job security. I also believe that Jauron, regardless of his competency as a coach, has the right demeanor to deal with TO. What I didn't like was Moulds discounting TO being under the right coaching here in Buffalo and stating that Belichick would be the answer. Matter of fact he's wrong. Let's face it, TO is NOT a team player and that is EXACTLY what Belichick and the Patriots are all about and that is what has made that program successful. Why hasn't ANYONE recognize that FACT? That whole situation would be a total mess if TO was on that team. His antics wouldn't be tolerated for a NY minute. Here, in Buffalo, TO is going to be highlighted and he will be the show. That's what feeds his tremendous ego and that's ok. He needs a team like us and we're a team that needs someone like him. It's a temporary marriage that is good for both parties. So Moulds COMPLETELY whiffed on this one but he he didn't want to miss this opportunity to spit in someone's face again. -

C'mon, come up with something better than that. I'm sure you're well aware of the changes that Brandon has made since he took the full reins and if not you should go back and review the last 15 months. I believe the players AND coaches are going to be accountable under Brandon's watch. Popular or not look at this off season alone. People are not going to be allowed to just show up and collect a check. -

The nerve of you two trying to confuse the issue with some facts. The perception around here doesn't neccessarily equate to reality. A lot has changed in the last 12 plus months but this isn't recognized or taken into consideration one bit. I do agree that if the Bills miss the post season again this year that there should and will be bigger changes to come and I'd be quite confidant that it will start with Jauron BUT until that becomes factual I'm going to give this coach, staff, team and franchise the benefit of the doubt. Be careful what you wish for folks. If we keep running people out of town we might be losing some good people/personnel in the process. This administration (Brandon) gave Jauron a vote of confidence this year, there must be a good reason for it. Sometimes in these witch hunts there's no witches to burn. -

Let me get this straight. I'm suppose to embace Moulds' disparaging remarks about our current coaching staff in the month of May? I'm sorry I'm not about to do that, it would mean that we're conceding our season and it's way too early for that. I'll wait to see if the wheels are coming off before I'm willing to do that. I don't see anything positive coming from his remarks. I have to question his motives. Is he saying this because he still loves Buffalo??? -

I'm sorry you feel that way. What is ironic is about 5 or 6 years ago TO was asked that if he were to start a team who he would have at the WR spot and he said Moulds. -

Ok, ok, I'm gonna run up the flag on this one, looks like I'm the minority but not because I changed my opinion but because I'm don't want to argue or try to convince anyone. Man, I hope Jauron does a lights out coaching job this year and not just for the outsiders. This guy is in a no win situation. if he does a lousy job then everyone will feel vindicated and if he does a greagt job it will because he was suppose to and it's long overdue. Somehow I get gthe feeling that either way Jauron won't open his mouth and will handle the outcome with nothing but class but of course he won't get the credit for that, not even from his own fans. -

Well, I thought that I stated my stance pretty clear. He may be right about Belichick and I think that Jauron's staff also can be the right coaching but in either case I didn't like him publicly stating that the right coaching is in New England, especially before we even started our season. Thanks for your support Moulds, now beat it. -

First I disagree with half of what Moulds said. Although he may be right about Belichick and his staff but I happen to think that Jauron and his demeanor is also that will be compatible with TO's personality. I could be wrong but I don't think so. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough though. I do take exception to what Moulds said. He's suppose to be a Bill, no? Then why take a swipe at our current staff even before the season begins? Nothing like pulling for your homeys. Add insult to injury and this guy tips his hat to all people but the dreaded Patriots. It's ok, we're all entitled to our own opinions but I would never want to be in a situation where I would have to be counting on this guy taking my back. -
More and more I'm regretting that I bought his jersey. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/200...ions-on-to.html

That's a pretty reasonable expectation except for the sack total. Keep in mind that the 2008 draft first rounders Chris Long (4), Glenn Dorsey (1), Vernon Gholston (0), Sedrick Ellis (4), Derrick Harvey (3.5), Lawrence Jackson (2) and Kentwan Balmer (0) only got 14.5 sacks combined in their first year in the league. In college they had 123 sacks combined so the leap to the NFL is not an easy one for these youngsters but I think that if Maybin got 4-6 sacks then he had an excellent rookie year. If he were to exceed that then Buffalo got a steal at the 11th pick.

This was nice to read and I think that he's right. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9539876...ay-like-rookies I expect Maybin to start off the season strong and then taper off considerably. He has blazing speed and there isn't any tape on him yet as a pro so OCs won't be able to break down his moves until after a few games but the damage will be done by then for New England. Once opposing offenses start start breaking down the tape and OTs start challenging rookies to bring something different it will be harder for them to get to the QB due to their limited repertoire of moves. For Maybin to be successful, he needs to utilize his speed and not let OTs be able to get their hands on him or otherwise it will be a long day for him. Over a third of the players (11 out of 32) who were drafted in the first round in this year's draft were defensive pass rushing type players (DE, DT & LB). That's over 50% more than the 2008 draft's first rounders (7 out of 32). There's a premium for these type of players but there's a high bust rate also. No doubt, this is a high risk position but the rewards can be monumental. I don't believe that I have to remind anyone about Bruce Smith and what he meant to this franchise. I'm glad that we didn't make a concession for this position and try to draft it in a later round like we have done before, even if Maybin were to be a bust I still applaud the decision and the courage to go after it. I find this interesting and I'm also curious to see how good our talent evaluators are. There's no doubt that there's a huge risk in taking a pass rusher so high but I believe that Maybin was the right choice. If he's not then we stand a good chance that this franchise will take a big step back and maybe for a few years at that. I'm excited and I'm hopeful, especially for our opener on MNF against the Patriots. I don't think that it's an overstatement to say that this one game has a play-off feeling to it, it's a HUGE game for us IMO. I'll be watching Maybin in particular during that game to see how our young prospect fairs against the mighty Patriots.

This could be like the John McCargo case where there was too much friction between coach and player due to injury but the difference being that the coach is staying and the player is leaving, unlike the Buffalo situation.
