A valid complement to Stevie? I just ran across a little news blurp that Gin is a UFA. His father thinks that he's not being used properly and that he needs to find a "home". The thought occurred to me that he just might be a valid #2 WR for our offense and if we were not to re-sign McKelvin that he would also be a great option for our return game. Thoughts?

Too many of our players have come and gone and because of our lack of success many of us, myself included, were hard on them and were very critical of their play. I'm ashamed of myself for not appreciating them more while they wore our colors. It's not the players fault where they were drafted, what they were paid and in a lot of cases what their production was. Let's put the real accountability where it belongs and that is with our "chosen leaders". Players like Donte only wanted the best for our team and franchise and most of us just scoffed and ridiculed him for it. Shameful, downright shameful it is. I for one wish him nothing but great success and sure do hope that he gets to experience the sweet taste of victory in the Super Bowl. Here's to you Donte, now go knock some snot out of those Ravens!

Russ Brandon at the Senior Bowl
Tipster19 replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I guess that I should respond to this. I can't think of one hire or promotion in between Polian and now that was bigger or better than this one with Brandon. Let's see, Tom Donahoe, Greg Williams, Wade Phillips, Dick Jauron, Mike Mularkey, Chan Gailey or even Marv Levy bigger or better than this promotion? I think not. John Butler is the only other name or person that even threatens my statement and he had a penchant for being too loyal to "his guys". No, I stand by what I said, I like Brandon's commitment and enthusiasm. I believe that now that Mr. Wilson is out of the way Russ Brandon will be motivated to provide the best product that money and research can provide. Brandon is a regional guy and it shows, especially by the personnel that he is accumulating. Would you rather have an "outsider" come in here to try and resurrect this franchise, someone who has no ties, understanding of not only of this franchise but of the region also? One who has not been involved one iota with this franchise the last umpteen years??! I would think not. Don't be a hater, give this guy a full chance, I believe that you will be pleasantly surprised. -
If that is the case then it wouldn't surprise me to see the Bills trade for RB Chris Ivory, he fits the description of what you speak of.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse

I'm doing this off my IPhone so I haven't read all the responses but who is to say that not only do we keep our pick at #8 but that we also trade up and back into the 1st round for one of these QBs? Just saying..... -
Russ Brandon at the Senior Bowl
Tipster19 replied to Jeff Wright's Mullet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that as far as administration goes that the promotion of Russ Brandon is the greatest hiring/promotion since Bill Polian. I don't think that he can be fairly evaluated based on the last 16 years due to Mr. Wilson's involvement. Either way, this time next year I think that we will all know if his promotion was the greatest blunder for this franchise or is a huge step forward. I am hoping for the latter. -
C'mon man, you're better than this. You have been a longtime poster and I enjoy a lot of your insights and applaud your loyalty but you can't possibly be serious with this quote, it's just not humane. Let's just hope that we as a team and organization improves enough to where we can beat them consistently and the others in this division to where we can start playing in the post season again. That would give you a greater satisfaction than wishing something as horrible as death upon somebody. C'mon brother, let's hope for a great draft and a couple of strong free agency acquisitions this year.

Just an idea. Buffalo is a college town type NFL team and Myers sure knew how to get the most out of Tebow. Tebow would also fit in for the type of character that this franchise and community seems to be always looking for.

I'm going to bump this post to give it another chance. Hopefully I can get some feedback on a serious issue in the current NFL.
-
The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business and the biggest issue currently is concussions. What is the focal point of this hugely vast entertainment is generated by the QB position, offense and scoring points. Simply put, if you kill the head of a snake then surely the rest of the body will die. I fully expect that not only will this issue of concussions to be addressed this off season but that aggressive preventive measures will be in place by next season. The dynamics will be altered rapidly to insure and to protect the quality of play and product on the field. Look for redesigning of helmets to be under review and that offensive linemen to be at a much more of a premium than years past.If the engine (QB) of this vehicle (NFL) can't be adequately protected than this vehicle will be greatly stalled. I decided to do a little internet surfing to verify who actually makes the helmets for the NFL. I have always thought Riddell were the only manufacturers of helmets but they only have exclusive branding rights. Contrary to popular belief Riddell is not the only manufacturer, there are others. Players can choose what helmets that they use as long as they pass NOCSAE standards. While Riddle dominates the market with 75% usage amongst players, there is 2 other manufacturers that produce on field helmets that current players use. Schutt, who just filed bankruptcy in September, is the next closest with a 23% share and then there is Xenith with a paltry 2%. Riddell has the official rights thru 2013 but commisioner Roger Goodell has inferred that Riddell's future of having exclusive rights might be in jeopardy. Here is where I anticipate for Nike to step up and possibly make their biggest thumbprint ever by securing the rights of being the one and only exclusive manufacturer of the on field helmets. Introducing the new wave of redesigned helmets would be monumental for decades to come. They not only have the resources but also have the image influence of introducing a futuristic helmet that not only emphasizes player safety but also bring this outdated equipment to the next generation. If I would have to venture a guess I would say a one piece helmet that integrates into the uniform would not be too far fetched. It will be exciting to see the new changes occur, regardless who manufactures it. The next preventive measure, though much simpler in theory, will be to keep the QB upright with better offensive linemen. They will be at much more of a demand in the future drafts and the potential Free Agents will be able to demand a king's ransom and rightfully so. To think that this issue will not be resolved or that it will be a processed at a pedestrian pace would be foolish. This is too big of a business for this black eye to linger any longer. Unfortunately it's once again it's the money that is the motivation, not what's truly important and that is the participants' safety. This is the Tipster reporting on the future of the NFL.

It's time to wake up, shake up this team.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I would say trade our whole defense to Arizona but their defense is 10 times better than ours. I think that our best bet would be is to dig up P.T Barnum and let him find that sucker that was born today and trade this WHOLE team to him for a used snowblower, at least the snowblower would fill a need and people up in Buffalo could get some use out of it. It's hard talking sense to a couple of primates. -
I'm afraid that this team is either in the tank or about to be. I think that the coaching/administration staff is walking a very precarious line here and drastic measures might be in order here. What I don't like is our mindset as a team. I'm doing this from an IPhone and I hope that I can make my point(s) coherent. First off I will say that I don't believe that this is just one or a few people's fault but us as a whole for this total collapse that we have been witnessing the last couple of weeks. With that being said I think that we have nothing to lose by capturing this team's attention with some very bold moves. I'm sure that this won't be popular but I think that it might be in our best interest for us to salvage this season before it's too late to do a subtraction for improvement. I would not be against the idea of trading Fred Jackson to Arizona before the trade deadline. I noticed that Fred wasn't too thrilled with us waiving Brian Moorman. If he was willing to express publicly his dissatisfaction that I could imagine how internally unhappy he really is. He is also on the wrong side of 30 to boot. The Eagles have made a living out of trading players with a year or so left in their tank. I also remember how close he is to Marshawn Lynch and it makes me wonder just how dedicated he truly is to our cause. I also think that it might be the time for us to see just what our 1st rd pick in Spiller will bring. I also believe that this would be a wake up call to the rest of the players that mediocrity is unacceptable. This is not to defend Gailey & Co or to put the blame on Jackson but it's time for us to be the kind of organization that can and will make hard decisions. I want us to be the kind of team and organization that takes accountability for our production and actions. I don't believe that this is the current case and we are only 5 weeks into the season. The compensation could be a combination of a draft pick and a player (Early Doucet?) but more importantly maybe a move like this could reel this team but in and capture their attention because as of right now we are screwed!

What a great freakin' thread this is! EVERYONE has a intelligent rebuttal, I can't ever remember that EVER happening on this message board! Lol! I would have to say that Buffalo Barbarian summed it up the best when he said that he doesn't care about other team's QBs and that we need a better one. I couldn't agree more with this thinking. Now here is my final observation. I think that we should experiment like Dr. Frankenstein and make the ultimate QB out of Cutler and Fitzpatrick, you know 2 parts Cutler, 1 part Fitz, etc etc because we sure haven't had success in drafting them.

I finally was able to bring myself around to finally read something about the Bills after that embarrassing ass kicking that we took against the Jets. I pulled up the Bills' mobile and lo and behold there was a news blurp about local film makers Phil Gangi and Pete Tasca making a new documentary "Almost a Dynasty". Apparently it reflects on the Bills in the 1990's and while I would feel a great sense of pride in years past I now find myself filled with disgust and contempt for the **** production that we just displayed as a team. I saw it in preseason and now I see it in our first game and that is the lack of intensity and urgency. When a team or a player punches us in the mouth then I want to see our players punch back, not just stand around like a bunch of pussies. Sorry but that's how I feel about our players right now, it's embarrassing. I want some tough guys like the Steelers where they don't take no **** from anybody. Is that too much to ask??! I don't want to hear Mario crying while he makes millions as I'm losing my house. I don't want to hear how Fitz is the answer as I watch him throw that fu@%ing ugly pick 6. I don't want to enter every year with such optimism and then watch our team just flounder the season away (although I will say that last year was quite refreshing in how we started the season. I don't to see us develope Pro Bowl LTs and then watch them just leave via trade/FA as we have nothing but turnstiles at the position. I'm sick and tired of forever being loyal and constantly worrying about the welfare of our team/players. I'm tired of watching just about every other team making the post season throughout the years while we stay at home. I'm fed up with having this "pride" about our "Dynasty" while we scrabble for excuses year after year. I have one simple question. When is it our time??!!! I don't want to hear about the past anymore, it's sickening and I have had my fill. The worse kind of conversation is glory stories. Forget the past and let's start living in the present. I want more than just hope, potential and promises. I want results. I'm not asking for too much, I just want what is fair or balanced as a NFL fan. Give me results and nothing else. It's time. I don't to hear, see or read anything other than good, positive results. Call me an @$$ho!e, fair weather or whatever you want but don't leave out that I'm a fed up fan. Whew, that feels better! It's time folks, no more excuses.

I hope all goes well for Mr. Wilson. As much as I want to see the Bills win a Super Bowl it just wouldn't be the same if Mr. Wilson wasn't there to enjoy it too. Go Bills!

Vince Young Cut By Buffalo Bills
Tipster19 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lol! That is so funny yet so true! -
I would love for the Bills to get Seattle's Josh Portis if he were to become available. I think that playing at multiple schools is actually an asset for him. I love his intangibles and he has great wheels. If he could pick up the mental aspect of Gailey's offense then I think that he would be a great fit. The little bit that I saw him play he seemed to posess that "thang" that separates the great ones from the good ones at the QB position. JMO.

What is the Best Bills D-Line Nickname ?
Tipster19 replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Outstanding Bills because we haven't been paid in quite some time and if they are as good as billed then it would still be appropriate. -
I firmly believe this must be it for Fitz
Tipster19 replied to Toshiero's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm probably echoing many others here when I say that we don't need a lights out, high octane offense to succeed, just a good solid ball control offense with a splash of big play capabilities (kind of like the Bill Parcell's Giants of the '80's). With the type of defense that we now employ turnovers will be the difference in our season with this type of offense. If we lose more turnovers than we get than this will be a miserable season but I fully expect and hope that we are going to get an awful lot of turnovers to go our way. -
Sorry but I strongly disagree with this comment. Darryl Talley is definitely my favorite player of all time, Bill and non-Bill alike. I have nothing but great memories of him, from his play on the field right up to his farewell article of his in the newspaper. Darryl Talley IS the Buffalo Bills, always has been always will be. To think that we almost lost him when that idiot Hank Bullough was the coach! Whew! Quick story. My brother always tortured me about the Bills back in the '70s and '80s. Well one game against the Chargers he got to be on the sidelines working the oxygen tanks for the players. After the game I hammered him to tell me all about it. He went on to say that Dan Fouts was a really cool guy and tough as nails and then went on and said that #56 was one intense player and that when Talley wasn't on the field he was so amped up that players wouldn't even get too close to him because his intensity and focus was all on the game. My brother was blown away by Talley's presence and even though he still continued to break my balls about the Bills for years later he always gave respect and props to #56. He said that those 2 players were head and shoulders above all the other players of both teams. IMO the #56 jersey should be retired by the Bills.

Former WR Josh Reed Slams Buffalo
Tipster19 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, let's not be too concern about doing your job. I'd be pissed off too if I were getting paid a ton of money and I couldn't go out and party. I might be a bit more concerned if it were real players like Stevie Johnson or Marcel Dareus bashing us. Their words would carry a little more weight IMO. -
Aaron Maybin and Scam Charities

If I'm not mistaken a non profit event or organization is only required to donate 10% of it's profits. -
Yeah I do! That was a great game that seemed to go on forever! Because of that game the NFL quit playing games on Christmas. I don't know what the current policy is but that one truly was a classic!

Ah, the good old days! It was 1970 and that was when I really started watching football consistently. The Chiefs were my first favorite team because they were my Father's at that time. By 1973 I switched to the Bills and never looked back. Talk about classic match ups! Those games were never boring and always a bloodbath between the Raiders and Chiefs. Willie Lanier, Otis Taylor and yes even Jan Stenerud were the guys I liked the most. Throw in Bobby Bell and Ed Podolak and you got entertainment! I'm sure that I misspelled a couple of names here but what 2 great teams they were!
