I don't usually carry ill will towards former Buffalo players but I really don't like Peters. There's a couple of quotes in the following link that just rubs me the wrong way. I'm wondering what kind of effect it will have with his teammates. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/02/jason-peters-says-he-could-have-played-last-year/

Bills officially sign QB Kevin Kolb
Tipster19 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know what, I agree with this thinking, unless of course there is one that they really want but not with our 1st rd pick, and maybe not even our 2nd rder. -
In the aftermath of losing out on the Fred Davis Sweepstakes it's apparent that until the Bills solidify their QB position it's going to be difficult to attract quality offensive players, unless of course that they grossly overpay them. On the other hand it would seem to be a lot more appealing for defensive players to come here, seeing that we have some marquee players ( Mario, Byrd, Dareus etc etc ) in place. What stands out the most, and a position that we need to fill desperately, is a WR that we can pair with Stevie Johnson. What FA WR would want to come here when we only have the likes of a Tavaris Jackson? I don't blame them, especially that there isn't even any good options in free agency for another QB. After hearing Carson Palmer trying to pick and choose his next potential team I'm of the thinking that Kevin Kolb is looking like the best option for us if we were to add a QB before the draft. Whether if it's Cordarrelle Patterson in the 1st rd, either at the #8 spot or if we were to trade down, or they take whoever in a later round the Bills would have a WR of choice that would HAVE to come here and at a much more reasonable cost to boot. Now that Davis stuck his nose up at us I guess that the same train of thought would also apply to the TE position as well. While I'm on the subject of Patterson, if we were to pass on him in the 1st rd then I would like to see the Bills select DE Dion Jordan but I'm afraid that if the Bills were to draft a DP in the 1st rd that they will take OLB Jarvis Jones because of them missing out on Von Miller back in the. 2011 draft.

Oh, it's you again. Nobody is saying not to spend time in other areas, just that this is another area that shouldn't be ignored. How about that the Bills should be diligent in EVERY aspect in improving this team because we suck so bad that we need as much help as we can get? There, that should make EVERYBODY happy. -

I like this thinking. It's an area of resource that definitely needs cultivating. I do believe that the Bills could reap a handful of quality players if they do the proper research. -

I would be excited getting one of them in the 2nd rd. I think that if we were to surround whatever QB we have with some good offensive weaons, we already have 2 solid RBs, that alone would improve our record right away. That's why I suggested Patterson and Ertz with our first 2 picks. -

Wow, the realty of being a QB, how few people even have a clue what they have to go thru mentally and then also being physically gifted. Btw, one of my sons live Lafayette, Louisiana and ran into Brees at the airport. He let him take a up close picture of him and my son said that he was very cool to him. -

Hey, thanks for sharing that, that was entertaining. I would love to hear what NFL coaches and their assistants really have to say about players, the truth, none of the coach speak. -
As another NFL draft and season is slowly approaching us I felt the need to try to once again to anticipate what our brain trust at OBD are plotting to do. Needless to say that it rarely ever goes the way that I hope it will but I still give them the benefit of the doubt. Let me start with a disclaimer right from the beginning. What I'm about to post is strictly my thoughts, opinion, hopes and dreams and is only meant for a dual purpose. One is for some input from other posters' for their ideas and opinions on what may lie ahead of us and secondly for entertainment purposes only. Let me go on record as stating that I have long ago had a bellyful of past administrations and the false optimism that this franchise is so successfully good at at delivering to the masses. Needless to say that being a Bills' fan I still get sucked in every year, if I want to or not. I think that only Bills' fans truly understand what I'm trying to say here. Well, anyways, let's get started. As I look towards the draft I wonder just what might happen. The Bills have more needs than most teams and have a lot less resources to fill them. If that's not enough our biggest need is at the QB position, the most important position on a team. To make matters worse draft picks are at a premium for us due to the fact that we only have 6 of them. For this reason and this reason only I can't fathom the Bills trying to move up in the draft or for them to be drafting 2 QBs, neither scenario makes sense to me. Desperation and need is a terrible combination for successful results. Have you ever heard the saying that scared money never wins? It's true more times than not and it is usually used in reference to gambling. This franchise has been too inept for way too long and I definitely don't think that they should be gambling. Let me go on record as saying that I don't want the Bills to draft a QB at the #8 pick. This year is a weak class for QBs and for us to gamble our first pick on one, at least at the #8 spot, would just be a bad bet. The top one or two QB might be gone by then on top of that. Are we suppose to pin our hopes and aspirations on a middle of the pack QB from a weak class??! If the Raiders don't take Geno Smith at #3 then don't assume that he gets past the Eagles. He fits perfectly for what new Coach Chip Kelly wants in a QB. The whole Eagles' staff went to go see him at his Pro Day and that included owner Jeff Lurie. The one and only time that Lurie did that was when he went and checked out Donovan McNabb. No, the sensible thing to do is to try and accumulate the most draft picks that we can and the best way to do that is by trading down in the 1st rd. Now, who could be a good trade partner for us? Who knows, your guess would be as good as mine, especially because there are so many variables that are involved. With that being said I think that Alabama's CB Dee Milliner could hold a key for us. Depending how the early part of the draft unfolds there is a very good chance that Milliner will fall to us. If so Tampa is desperate for a quality CB and they are sitting at #13. A trade back with them and for their 2nd rd (#43) pick and their next year's 4th rder would be reasonable in my opinion. Now, if something like that were to happen I think that we should accomplish 2 things with that pick at #13 and that would be to draft for one of our needs with the best player available, which would be the best player at his position and in turn that would be WR Cordarrelle Patterson. I still wouldn't want to use either 2nd rd picks (our #41, Tampa's #43) on a QB unless our Powers To Be were rock solid confident that the prospect was worthy of such a pick (Nassib/Manuel?). Otherwise I would like to see the Bills continue to address their needs with the best player available at their position. If he were still available at #41 I would like for us to take TE Zach Ertz. Does a LB at #43 make sense? I don't know but it's a good pick and I sure hope that Buddy doesn't piss it away. What I'm getting at with my mock scenario is that QB isn't our only big need it's just the most important and I don't believe that we have great and/or secured prospects to choose from. Look, we are at the top of each round for a reason and that is because we sucked. Now, I rather that we were successful and picked at the end of the rounds but that's not the reality of it but I also don't want to repeat this crap again next year.So in my mind the best way for us right now is to address ALL of our needs instead of just sweating the biggest one with lesser talent to choose from. After addressing and filling some of our other pressing needs with our first 3 picks (#13, #41 and #43) if the Bills were to concentrate on what QB that they think that could be developed I think that there could still be talent that hasn't dipped drastically from the #3 QB on down. Names like Tyler Wilson, Tyler Bray, Landry Jones, Zac Dysert, etc. etc. If one really wanted to stretch and take one in the mid to late rds then there is the likes of Matt Scott, Sean Renfree and Brad Sorensen to choose from and if you really want a sleeper then there is always Jeff Tuel and Kyle Padron. Having Tavaris Jackson and adding a FA like a Kevin Kolb with one of the above prospects is not the most hateful scenario, no matter what we do I think that it's not going to be the greatest of results. If none of the 3 QBs (Jackson, draft prospect X and a FA) that I mentioned can't step up and get the job done then we can always get our potential franchise QB in next year's draft when there is better quality to choose from. In the meantime let's build a team. What would be wrong with that? Fwiw, there are plenty of other teams that are either looking for a starting QB or looking for a back-up to develop. I mean how many of you believe that Bruce Arians and the Cardinals are happy with the likes of Drew Stanton and Brian Hoyer??! There is so much posturing and lying before the draft that it's actually insulting. Do you realize that the only QB on the Saints' roster is Drew Brees? Btw, I expect them to make a move for KC's LT Branden Albert just before the draft. That's another team with only 6 draft picks and they have a rotten defense. Sean Payton isn't thrilled with the LT position after their LT Bushrod split in FA. They really don't have enough ammo to move up in the draft, they lost their 2nd rder in the "Bounty Gate", so they can't really get one of the elite LTs in the draft. They would be better off spending their 1st rder (#15 overall) on defense anyways. I know KC is looking for a 2nd rder in this year's draft and another pick but why can't the Saints' 3rd rder this year and a conditional pick in next year's draft work? Don't think that KC isn't anxious to rid Albert off of their books. He's tagged for 9+ million dollars and they can spend half of that on Luke Joeckel. There is also the Raiders, Eagles, Jaguars, Jets and Cleveland, all potential suitors for QBs, not to mention who might be considering developing a back-up QB. t's still being rumored that New England still might trade Ryan Mallett to Mike Lombardi & Co over in Cleveland and if that happens they'll be in the market for a back-up. Maybe that's why they had Jeff Tuel in for a visit in the last couple of days. Once again I admit that I don't know what the Bills are going to do, since Marrone they have been tight lipped about everything but I do expect them to really shock us, I really do and it's not because I want them or that I'm hoping for that. Matter of fact I think that they are really throwing us a huge smokescreen. I think that they definitely have something that nobody is talking about or expecting. It's almost like they are deliberately announcing and parading all these expected QB prospects in front of everybody. I think that it's all bs. I don't think that they are really going to try and fit a square into a circle, I don't think that they can afford too. Let's face, everybody knows that no matter how good things go for us it still won't be enough. We are not going to be world beaters this year and probably not for awhile even so why make a QB this year a do or die situation? I think that our front office realizes this and is more than willing to eat a year and get the right piece in next year's draft in a worse case scenario. Well, if not for nothing I hope that some of this helps stir up some ideas and possible scenarios for others, I would love to hear it because quite honestly I really don't know what is going to happen. Hopefully this post was at least a bit entertaining and not too boring for you. Thanks for listening.

I don't know if this will change your perception of me but fwiw I only directed that rant, or whatever you want to call it, at just a few others and you were not not one of them. Actually I give you a lot of credit for discovering more about the author of the article that I referenced, which I might add was pretty well written for a 16 year old. There was absolutely no problem with me getting corrected by you or any other poster, matter of fact I'm glad that you caught that and pointed it out, it will make me more careful. I will say though I thought that that kid was as good if not better than a lot of other articles from so called professional sport writers that I have read. Now to answer your opening question. No, I don't usually make it a habit to attack other posters, if anything I'm a pretty positive Bills' fan, maybe to the point of being guilty of being too optimistic about their current situation and future, just like so many other Bills' fans around here. I don't attack others and even when I don't agree or think that someone is way off base I choose to sustain and keep my opinion to myself just so I don't become combative or to ignite conflict BUT when others on this board, and it's common knowledge that there is some of them that do exist, can just slander, smear or ridicule others for their thoughts, comments and ideas then they should expect a response that may not be too favorable. I won't apologize for this and as long as I stay on course with my response(s) and I don't include other unwarranted and unnecessary subject to it then I feel exonerated. It's ironic, in this case I'm not referring to you, that the ones who initiated the conflicts are usually the first ones to cry foul. It's real simple, treat others as you want them to treat you. If you are abusive then don't whine if you get abusive responses. Better yet, how about if we just stick to football subject matters only and leave out all the verbal attacks, slanders and personal references? If you think that I don't carry myself like that in just about all my posts then I invite you to look up my posting history. In the few times that I might of had some conflicts I can guarantee you that I was NEVER the one who initiated it. Can I be guilty of coming back strongly, even going over the top? Absolutely but it just wasn't because of one remark or incident, I can assure you of that. Matter of fact, like I stated previously, I usually just reframe from it so I won't have a problem or disagreement with another poster. While we are on the subject of message board courtesy and message comprehension I would like to take this time to point out something that happens WAY too often on WAY too many posts, threads and responses. It always amazes me when someone will state or remark on a subject, place, thing or whatever it may be in someone's comments, how right before your eyes their words get magically twisted and the whole meaning of the message takes on a whole new meaning. Lol, how does that happen so often??! I mean the whole premise of this board is reading and writing! We are suppose to post and share thoughts and ideas and in turn we are suppose to read it and then comprehend it. Right or wrong, if you like it or not, I mean EXACTLY what I say and the same concept goes for what I read. I don't change the meaning of what the other poster writes with my words, I respond to them in direct correlation of THEIR words. What do I mean? It happened right in my exchanges today. It's minor and I'm not picking on the other poster because all is good now but when I distastefully made the reference about how some of you probably get slapped around by your wives the other poster referenced it and brought that back up in his response he stated something of the effect of slapping around your wives. Tell me, how does that happen??! Amazing, simply amazing! Lastly I'd like to mention that I did apologize for some of my responses and I can honestly say that I'm not the kind of person who holds grudges or ill will against others. This is completely behind me and I hope that it is for anyone that I offended. I would actually like to be friends with everyone and continue to share our thoughts, ideas and opinions with each other but only in a friendly and courteous way. -

Ok, with all due respect there was no need for me to drag in wives and bosses and for that I truly apologize. As far as rehashing threads, duplicating subjects, etc etc, it's a bit more difficult for me because I do most of my posting and reading is being done from an IPhone. Needless to say that some of these posts have many, many pages to them and it is near impossible to read them all, my eyes are already crossed just reading your last response. Lol (Jk!). When my "original" post and it's content was merged under the proper thread it was a thread that was started almost 2.5 months ago. I am not trying to make threads/posts just to make them, I'm just trying to stay plug in to my favorite team and just share ideas and speculate on what direction that they may be taking, that's all. I'm not here to argue with any of you or to throw disparaging about anyone so after this response I'm just going to **** up on this whole thing and only comment and post on only my ideas, thoughts and opinions on what I hope is original subjects. With that being said, I like players like a Sorensen and hope that we don't overreach or emphasize on QBs and overlook quality players at other positions just because we have a huge need for a franchise QB. We all have suffered WAY too long and at this point if we have to sacrifice ANOTHER year for the right QB then I am in favor of that instead of squandering a high draft pick just to satisfy the masses with the wrong player. Personally speaking I think that this kind of knee jerk reaction to our ever lasting needs is what got this franchise in trouble for the last 10+ years. Just my humble opinion. -

What the hell are you talking about??! All I did was post about a draft prospect that I read some articles on and asked for some input from anyone who knew more about him or actually saw him play. As far as saying what I said, I would most definitely say it to anyone's face who came back with some of the responses that they did. Look, I don't know if you're some kind of scout, an ex player or coach but I'm not. All I did was asked for some input hopefully from people who know more about him and this subject than me. Holy ****, this board is getting more and more difficult to deal with! Talk about driving more and more traffic away from this site, this is the kind responses that does it more than anything. It has gotten to the point where after someone posts they have to duck. I guess that there is too many "experts" around for me to post or ask anything about the Bills. Private PM you my @$$, who in the hell do you think you are??! This place is a joke, a bad one! Here's EXACTLY what I posted Mr. NFL: The more and more that I read about this guy the more impressed I am, especially about his pocket presence, his calmness and his rocket arm. Has anyone actually see him play or know much about him? All input welcomed. He has the makings of a real under the radar type of player. -

Thanks San Jose for taking the time to point that out and you're right, I didn't direct any of that towards the likes of Edward 's Arm or KeisterHollow or any of the others who were actually conversing on the subject. I think that it is obvious who my remarks are meant for, it's usually the same ones around here that think that they are the only ones who are worthy in their posts/responses. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they are the ones who get slapped around by their wives, bootlick their boss' shoes at work and then get on this board and beat their chest like they are King Kong. -

Some of you around here really make me laugh. All I did was looked down a list of draft prospects for QB and came across Sorensen. At this point I googled him and read a few of the articles that were at the TOP of the search engine, including the 16 year old which happened to be the one listed secondly. The articles ALL listed qualities that I found intriguing so I posted about him, even watched a highlight video or 2 of him. I never claimed to be some kind of expert or even state that we should draft 2 QBs, just that I would rather that the Bills take a flyer on a player LIKE Sorensen instead of using our 1st rd pick on a QB in a purportedly weak QB class, in which of course I'm afraid that is exactly what our idiot front office is going to do. Here is where I made my biggest mistake or error in judgement. I had the audacity to try and post some kind of a football thought about a football player on a football board and then was actually retarded enough to ask for some input. Of course I got some input but it was from a few of the fugging jerk-offs that inhabit this board but alas at least they didn't disappoint, they held true to form. They were more than happy and quick to critique everything about what I posted and what I am EXCEPT for the subject of the topic, which of course is who I originally asked for more input and insight on. What a bunch of a$$holes! Lol! Keep up the good work guys, I appreciate you holding true to form. Whew, for a moment there I actually thought that you were going to contribute. I must be getting delusional in my old age. -

I probably should have posted this article also. I'm afraid that we are going to take a QB with our 1st rd pick but if this draft is as weak as what everyone seems to be predicting than I'd rather see Buffalo bolster other positions and then take a flyer on a QB like Sorensen. In the event that they don't pan out then find our potential franchise QB in next year's draft. http://www.rantsports.com/nfl/2013/01/31/2013-nfl-draft-brad-sorensen-scouting-report/ -

Let me ask you something. I have been a total Bills' fan since '73 and yes they're in my blood but I were to get a complete blood transfusion with say a guy from Boston would I suddenly be a Patriots' fan?? Good God I couldn't imagine that! I think that I would have to bleed out! All kidding aside, I, we, are stuck and like it or not we're stuck. I think that the only thing that could counterbalance or offset all the pain and suffering that we all have endured thru the years (decades) is if the Bills were to win a Super Bowl. Funny thing is that if that were to happen I wouldn't be surprised if none of us would even remember all the agony that we went they to get there. ****, we're not the only ones who have been agonized. If the Bills were to win a Super Bowl Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas would go berserk just as much as any of us! It's nice to know that the Bills and the torture that they have delegated to so many of us doesn't discriminate. Lol!

Some Nice Words From Coach Marrone
Tipster19 replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, I don't have a clue what our future holds with this coach or even this administration as far as that goes. Matter of fact this free agency that just opened up scrambled my brain even more but what I do like about this coach and administration sans Nix is that they are New Yorkers, they are us. Even Buddy had the Western New York/Buffalo Bill connection with the John Butler/A.J. Smith regime and while I felt that he was a big improvement from the previous GM(s) that he succeeded, he and Chan Gailey just aren't one of us as far as northern/New York mentality goes. I think that that type of thing does count and it can and will make a difference. What is even more important is that Marrone was a player before he got into coaching. That in itself is the most important attribute that he brings to the table. While I may be wrong, and I have been much more than I have been right, I believe that he is a no nonsense educator. He will demand the proper commitment from his players. There will be no lackadaisical attitudes, middle of the road efforts and players that are divas, not that we have any on the roster as of now but to know that we won't have any in the future either and I like that.......a lot! Now, with all that being said It bothers me that decisions have been made, ala Donald Jones for example, and he hasn't even met these players yet according to that article. Furthermore it is no secret that we have plenty of holes to fill and our roster is precariously thin right across the board and we just about did nothing so far in free agency. I get it that we are a small market and that we shouldn't be getting into bidding wars or overpaying for players but although I am by no means an accountant it behooves me to see teams like the Dolphins be able to manipulate the salary cap while they accumulate some of the bigger names in free agency and still have a relatively low hit on their salary cap for the 2013 season. Granted, they may be mortgaging their future seasons after that, and I'm not even sure that they are, but for argument sake there has got to be some kind of concession that we could have made to be able to get more than just Manny Lawson. One name that comes to mind is TE Ben Watson. In hindsight I think that he would have been a great pick-up for us, especially with Chandler being a question mark and that we are, in addition, looking to bolster this position. If I'm not mistaken he was signed for very reasonable dollars. I'm not trying to be long winded but I'm sure that there's a few other names that I could come up with that didn't demand high dollars. So, my question is this, who is the one(s) that are making all these decisions for us? It doesn't sound like it's Marrone but if it is shouldn't he have at least met some of these players before we decided not to even tender them or before we just cut them loose?? Is it Nix? If so I'm very rapidly losing confidence and respect for him. ****, he can't even make a commitment to play a 4-3 or 3-4 defense! How many times did we go back and forth on this in the last 3 years??! I won't even get into that Fitzpatrick contract because that one still chafes my a$$. Is it Brandon? Golly, I sure hope not! I like him and I believe that he is definitely committed to turning this around and is trying his damnest to do so but he sure has been hoodwinked on the last several personnel changes that has been made in the front office the last few years and let's face it, he is not a football guy, he's a PR/number guy. I think that the best decision that he has made in quite some time is that he's willing to step aside and let his dept heads that he hired be the ones to make the important football decisions. Or is it a combination of a few of these guys making these decisions collectively? I sure would like to know. Who? Who? Who? -

Tipster19 replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find this whole Free Agency very disappointing and confusing. Hoping that we were going to be signing all these big name FAs and just sitting and watching us do relatively very little has been very frustrating. Reflecting on what has been stated by our "brain trust" has me even more bewildered but this is the things that I have been hearing. Below is what I'm paraphrasing and repeating to the best of my memory. Buddy Nix and his infamous phone call: "We don't need anymore Tackles, we're all set at this position." "Fitz is holding us ransome and he'll have to do something or we'll do it for him and all he is is a back-up." "We only have 6 draft picks and what can we really do with just 6 picks?" "We're in the market for a QB and a few other positions need upgrading." Russ Brandon: "We have been too irrevelent for too long and we will return to being a winning franchis." Doug Marrone: "We are not into the information giving business, we are into the information collecting business." Now of course this isn't exactly what they said but basically this is what I interpreted. I think the most interesting reference was Nix referring to our draft picks. Based on this and the lack of FA acquisitions I believe that we will definitely trade back in the 1st rd and I also believe that the reason why they only tagged Byrd with a non-exclusive tag was in the hopes that they, the Bills, were looking to pick up some premium draft picks from another team who would sign him. Either trading down and/or get a late 1st rd pick for Byrd is where we would get our QB, or at least our first one. I do expect still, and I now say this cautiously, that we will still a or a couple of reasonably priced FAs still. Bottom line is I believe that we are truly looking to gather or get as many draft picks as we possibly can. I mentioned a couple of ways that this will or could happen but I think that the Bills may also shock us by trading an unexpected player of ours to also add to our draft pick count. The reason for building our roster via the draft is for the economics of it but also from keeping malcontent FAs and expensive aging veterans being the core of our roster. Btw, Nix thinks he is a draft guru and when it comes to QBs I'm afraid that he really doesn't know **** about them. I'd rather see us pick up a one year stop gap QB like Kolb or Carson Palmer or someone of that caliber and also draft one with our 2nd rd than to use our 1st rd pick on one while Buddy is still running the show. I'd rather wait until after he's gone (after this year) and get one under Whaley's watch and the candidates are of better quality in the 2014 draft. -
Finally, I found a purpose for Fitzpatrick's contract!
