Look, I don't know either one of these kids and I won't hold someone's background, or should I say their environment, against them but when I heard each of them interview that Geno Smith just rubbed me the wrong way. While I can understand his disappointment he still came across selfish and insincere while EJ impressed me not only genuine but also dedicated. Regardless of what happens to EJ while he's in Buffalo I find myself unexpectedly rooting for him just in life, he strikes as just a nice kid. The only thing that would surprise me is if EJ wasn't successful in his life, on or off the field. Here's to Buffalo, I think that they found a real winner in this kid.

I don't think that Dansby is in the plans, it looks more like Kiko or maybe even someone else. This from Tim Graham. Take it for what it is worth. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/04/bills-less-likely-to-sign-karlos-dansby-with-kiko-alonso-in-fold.html?ref=brp

It didn't smell bad to me but it gagged my secretary.

Truth be told Tebow never did get a fair chance ANYWHERES in the NFL. That's too bad, much lesser talent got more of a break than him (*see JP Losman, Trent Edwards and others from around the league). Btw-I first broke wind in my office when I read this news.

Live NFL Draft 2013 draft thread
Tipster19 replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C'mon Dee Milliner or trade back! I'm afraid that they are going to take Jarvis Jones to make up for missing out on Von Miller. -
Holy ****, I thought the EXACT same thing today! I was actually mulling posting this very thought but didn't have the nerve to do it, especially since my posts haven't been too popular lately. He fits what we need maybe even more than a QB. I think that the Bills do grab a QB in the 2nd rd without a trade up or maybe even later. We have Kolb and from what I have heard Jackson hasn't looked hateful. On the other hand our TEs position looks piss poor as of now, especially with Chandler being such a question mark. Grabbing someone to develope behind these 2 like Landry Jones in the 2nd or 3rd rd would make more sense to me than trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with these earlier prospects at QB. Hey, Jones even got a vote of approval from Bill Polian and if he 's good enough for Polian than he's good enough for me. Well, needless to say here's to an interesting draft! Go Bills!

Today's "What-If" Mock is Bills-49ers Trade
Tipster19 replied to Astrobot's topic in College Football
I don't believe that this trade is realistic or even feasible. Even if the 49'ers were willing to make that trade I don't think that the Bills are in any position to risk 1 of the QBs that they covet. Moving down that far would really jeopardize their chances of securing a QB of choice. If the Bills were to trade back then moving just several slots would be more suited to fulfilling their need(s) while adding draft pick(s) that they so desperately need. I could understand and believe that trading back with a team like Dallas (#18) would be more in reach of being a possibility. Dallas has a great need for a Safety and have an aging team whose window of opportunity is rapidly nearing it's potential. in addition to those factors they also have a flamboyant owner who has actually done trading with the Bills in the past. Trading with them and acquiring their 1st rd and 2nd rd pick in this year's draft and say something like their 3rd rd pick or a conditional 4th in the 2014 draft would be a fair value for the rights to Kenny Vaccaro. Moving back to the #18 pick should secure one of the QBs (Nassib?) that the Bills are interested in while they pick up an extra 2nd rd (#47) pick in this year's draft. That to me would be a very good trade for both parties involved. -
Damond Talbot's Buffalo Bills Mock Draft 2.0
Tipster19 replied to Damond Talbot's topic in College Football
Kudos to the OP, very sensible scenario(s). I wasn't too amped for a QB at #8 but Barkley does seem mature and quite seasoned so I'm not against this pick at all. I want a QB as much as anyone and I don't care when or where we get one so I'll leave this in the hands of people who know a heck of a lot more than me. One last thing, if we do take a QB at the #8 slot then I hope that we stick with the theme and make this primarily an offensive draft so we can give this team and future franchise QB a true chance to succeed. -
Thanks for the memories Pat, may you rest in peace. Clearly a staple of my football memories growing up. His easiness in the booth made him the Dean Martin of football to me. http://youtu.be/ch7RaSKn-rk

First round trade down seems likely.
Tipster19 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well spoken, I totally agree. Omg, I never thought of that possibility. What a freaking nightmare that would be! If he were to be idiotic enough to do that than I hope that he gets fired immediately! Btw, thanks for ruining my day. -
Just some speculations, rumors and predictions.....
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the risk of hearing some more snide remarks I'm reviving this post because I see an awful lot of threads running off of it, especially the trade down with Tampa. There's a few other shots that I called that are noteworthy also. Now, if my topic is too lengthy then do yourself and me a favor and don't read it. There is no need to bad mouth me for posting football material on a football forum. -
Here is a question that teams would have to ask themselves if they were considering making a trade for a player like Byrd. Do we want to pay for production or take a shot on potential? Now a team like San Francisco, who has been at the threshold of a championship for 2 years running now, has to consider their window of opportunity. I would think that Andy Reid and the Eagles feel unfulfilled, making it so many times to the NFC Championship game and even once to the Super Bowl to only come up short. They actually took on TO for this very reason. Now a team like Dallas, with a control freak for an owner, who have consistently underachieved with their current star players for the last several years would also be considered as someone who would step forward for a Safety of Byrd's caliber before they have to start replacing some of their major pieces. Dallas is close to being a team that will be in a full blown rebuilding process in the next 2 to 3 years. Remember, it was Parcells and Sean Payton, really Payton, who came up with Romo, not Jerry Jones. When they have to replace Romo I believe they will be screwed because Jones doesn't have the intelligence or the talent that it takes to come up with a franchise QB. Their time is right NOW to have a legitimate shot of winning a championship because they won't be a serious threat for quite some time once the Romo & Co (Witten, Austin etc) are put out to pasture and don't think for a minute that Old Jerrah doesn't know or realize this.

Lol! That's pretty funny about Palmer. You don't think that Byrd isn't worth the second to last pick of the 1st rd and the second pick of the 2nd rd? I'll say this, if I'm wrong about Byrd's value to a team like San Francisco then it's not by much, a Safety like him has a very high ceiling to certain teams. Dallas is another team that would pay a premium like Byrd only I'm not sure about their salary cap room or I'd think that we could work something out with them.
-
How about this for rebuilding? Trade Byrd to Dallas for their 1st (#18) and 2nd (#43) rd picks in this year's draft and if CB Dee Milliner falls to us (which I think he will) then trade down with Tampa for their 1st (#18) and 2nd (#47) rd picks in this year's draft. If we could get either one of them to throw in a mid or conditional pick in next year's draft would be a bonus. I'd love for Buffalo to do both scenarios. How about this for rebuilding? I thought that while we're on the subject that I'd share this little nugget from Tim Graham and Donte Whitner. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/04/donte-whitner-lists-jairus-byrd-nfls-second-best-safety.html?ref=brp

Bear with me because I'm doing this from an IPhone and all by memory but if my memory serves me correctly the Bills didn't tag Byrd all that quickly. If I'm correct than I have a theory for that that I'll explain later. I do agree wholeheartedly that the Bills are not just going to give him away, Byrd is by no means distressed merchandise unlike Marshawn Lynch. I respectfully disagree with this. I'm glad that this article came out because I think that there is something to it. I don't believe in the way the writer pitched it but when Buffalo contemplated tagging Byrd it raised my eyebrows a bit but when they tagged him with a non exclusive tag it sent a huge red flag to ME. It indicated to ME that Byrd could be had for the right price. When it happened the team that struck me as a potential trade partner was the 49'ers. They have a boat load of picks and their secondary had great need, especially at the S position. The picks that they hold interest me the most is the #31 and #34 picks but as the draft nears I'm not so sure if this is still a possibility but I guess time will tell on this one. If the above scenario or the linked article doesn't materialize then they ate set gave me pause to think and reflect on what other team(s) would be a trade possibility and that is when Dallas comes to mind. They have a dire need at the S position and in addition the OL. I don't know what Jerry Jones is thinking or what he will do but then again I don't think that anyone else does either. I do know that they hold the #18 (1st rd), #47 (2nd rd) and the #80 (3rd rd) picks in the draft. Would the #18 and #47 picks be fair compensation for Byrd? I think so or it least it would be close. I wouldn't take less but maybe a conditional 5th rd pick in next year's draft could be squeezed out of Old Jerrah. Keep in mind that this is the same ego maniac that paid thru the nose a few years back for WR Roy Williams. When Jerry Jones wants something or someone he's willing to pay. In conclusion I think that Dallas could make an excellent trade partner for us and would (hopefully) pay accordingly for Byrd. Just MHO.

Trying to figure out Buffalo's draft.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have one of two scenarios that I would like to see the Bills pull off and in both cases the first 3 picks are the same. Exhibit A 1st rd #8-DE Ezekiel Ansah 2nd rd #41-OL Kyle Long 3rd rd #71-CB Darius Slay 4th rd #105-QB Zac Dysert 5th rd #143-WR Aaron Mellette 6th rd #177 -TE Mike Shanahan Exhibit B 1st rd #8-DE Ezekiel Ansah 2nd rd #41-OL Kyle Long 3rd rd #71-CB Darius Slay 4th rd #105-WR Kenny Stills 5th rd #143-TE Jake Stoneburner 6th rd #177-QB Brad Sorenson Who knows, Buffalo probably won't even draft one of these guys but it's who I like. -
Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
Tipster19 replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is this factual or just speculation? If it is true can you share the source? -
If looking at any of Buffalo's pre-draft visits can be a precursor to what they are thinking then there should only be a couple of scenarios that they considering. Let's go review the players/positions that have visited. QB-Buffalo so far has looked at 1st rd possibilities (Smith and Barkley) to late rd prospects (Tuel and Scott). Bottom line is Buffalo has looked at them all and they are suppose to. If, and I do mean if, someone like Smith were to slide to them then I could believe that Buffalo would take him if they really think that he is the franchise QB but I don't think that Smith makes it us and don't believe that they would take any others with the first pick at #8. WR-Justin Hunter looks like the highest rated WR prospect so far and he's slated to be the earliest a 2nd rounder. OLB/DE-The Bills have had Jones and Mingo in for visits and while they could be our top pick I'd like to think that Dion Jordan or Ezekiel Ansah would be our first choice if either one of them were to be there when we pick. CB-Although we could stand to use someone like Dee Milliner or possibly even Xavier Rhodes, we haven't had any in for a visit so far so I'm not too sure how much the Bills value this position. It actually looks like if they have any pressing need or interest it seems to be with the SS/FS position(s). SS/FS-Here is where there seems to be some stronger interest. I'm not so sure though that the Bills would really go after another S at the #8 slot again (see *Donte Whitner). S Kenny Vaccaro has been in for a visit but I still don't see Buffalo taking a S with their first pick. OL-Warmack or Cooper? Would the Bills possibly take a G at the #8 spot??! Sorry, I find that hard to believe. I know that some of the national pundits have Buffalo taking one of these 2 but I think that Buffalo believes that they have viable solutions at this position, regardless of Levitre leaving. What was it, a combination of 5 different Gs last year? No, I don't see it, at least not with a pick as high as ours is. DT-Well, I suppose it could happen, especially if Star Lotulelei, Sharrif Floyd or possibly even Sheldon Richardson were available when we pick but c'mon, I don't know about all this. I'll say this, possible but not probable. And then there is the old trade down. Not a bad idea actually and I wouldn't be against it if it were to net us enough picks. How about this for a novel idea. What if Buffalo were to trade down and then trade out of the 1st round altogether? Gather enough picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of this year's draft while they finally trade out their traded down 1st rd pick for someone's 1st rder for next year. Example: Buffalo trades with Tampa for their #13 and #43 (2nd rder) and their 2014 4th rder. In turn Dallas and their diabolical leader Jerrah are desperate for some S, interior OL and possibly along the DL help. Trade down with them for their 1st (#18), 2nd (#47), 3 (#80) and their next year's first, whatever that may be. He has a veteran offense and he knows it, time is running out a little bit for some of his key players. Furthermore Dallas is having a hard time keeping Romo upright. They could and should trade out 4 of their 5 OL. Having a chance to draft a player like G Jonathan Cooper while they take Texas' S Kenny Vaccaro would be a huge coup for them. Doesn't hurt that Vaccaro is a homeboy also, the fans would really eat it up. When the smoke clears Buffalo would be loaded with 2nd (#41, #43, and #47) and 3rd rd (#71 and #80) picks while having two 1st round picks and an extra 4th rder in next year's draft. This would surely secure one of the top rated QBs in next year's draft. Ok gentlemen, ignite the flamethrowers, I'm ready!

I would never say never buy if it's going to be a QB for us at the #8 pick then it better be Geno Smith or otherwise take the BAP and take a QB later in the draft. If that later round QB doesn't work out then make QB a priority in next year's draft when there is a better talent pool to choose from. We are not going to be world beaters this year so I don't want to sacrifice good players in this year's draft for just a possible few extra wins because we need a QB. Play out with what we got and gather some good solid pieces in the meantime to construct a team that can win in the future once we acquire the right QB. Of that's just my opinion.
