Don't tell me that this league isn't all about talent!
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now THAT was funny.......and somewhat accurate! Nice find! Don't go there and try and pull the race card. That's not what I was saying at all, I don't care what color, race or creed is, I'm painting this with a much broader brush, I'm talking about character, principle and standards. -
The days about justice, equality and fairness is all in the past and unfortunately that's where it will stay! I guess that that I'm just an old nostalgic dinosaur but the the double standards from time to time really galls me. I for one was always an advocate for "character" guys but it's sadly apparent to me that if I want my favorite team/franchise to be successful and competitive than I have to abandon my values and principles. What a sad state of affairs this world/league has come too! It's things like this that takes away the luster of football for me, either I have to change and accept or be left behind. If I have to compromise too many times, accepting Super Bowls and franchises on foreign soil, than the choice might be made for me and be an easier one to make, I'll choose to stay where I am! http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/06/12/bengals-waive-robert-sands/

Deacon Jones versus Bruce Smith
Tipster19 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or never seen Ali box during his time. There were plenty of times where he just clowned around to keep other boxers in the fight until it was time to put them or the fight away. If he were ever really went after it from ding to dong his career/stats would be off the chain and there wouldn't even be any comparisons to Tyson or any other boxer to dispute. Ali was so good that he left more on the table than not, it's scary to even imagine just how good he could have been. -

THIS is the Greatest Comeback. C'mon Jimbo, it's time to dig deep, Buffalo loves you! -
Deacon Jones versus Bruce Smith
Tipster19 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who really knows, it's unfair to compare athletes from different eras. First off, the athletes themselves are totally different, between the conditioning and training regiments are so far advanced today that the physical builds are apples to oranges. I will say this though, if we were comparing HOF egos Bruce would win hands down. I loved watching him play, hated hearing him talk. In all the years that I followed football I can't remember too many former players that were a bigger @$$hole than him. He was when he was playing and as evidence on the Bills' app interview of comparing himself to Deacon Jones and Reggie White he still is. Btw, as far as Ali vs Tyson I'd like to say this. Ali was pure poetry and he actually wasn't even allowed to box during his best year(s). Ali fought Frazier, who was very comparable as a boxer to Tyson, and they were epic battles but with that being said I don't think that Tyson ever fought anyone who was even remotely close to being the type of boxer that Ali was. Matter of fact the competition that these 2 boxers faced during their careers couldn't be anymore different. During Ali's time there were at least 4 or 5 serious contenders at any given time and Tyson on the other hand probably never faced 4 or 5 serious contenders during his whole career, which isn't his fault but certainly didn't hurt his display of power and knock outs. If I had to bet I'd go all in on Ali, he was that one in a lifetime (century?) boxer/athlete. -

I'm not going thru all 12+ pages because I don't want to go cross eyed from my IPhone but I happened to catch your response and I too wasn't particularly fond of Jimbo as a person during his playing years. Funny thing though, as time goes by people mature, get humbled by life and they change, some for the better, some for the worse. I believe in Kelly's case he became a better human being and I find myself greatly disturbed by this devastating news concerning the greatest Buffalo Bill of all time. Yes, I said it, #12 is the greatest Buffalo Bill of all time and not only did I admire him as a player but I appreciate him even more for all the things he has done and has tried to do for the Buffalo Bills and it's community. To say that he's a Bills' icon is almost an understatement. My prayers go out to Jim and his family and I expect nothing less than that gritty determination and resolve that he so many times displayed as a player to fight this terrible disease because as we all know that NOBODY circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills and their fearless leader Machine Gun Kelly! Btw, I'm sorry for what you, your dad and your family had to go through. -
Good article about Byrd agent Eugene Parker by Tim Graham
Tipster19 replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It might be more cost effective for the Bills to just keep franchising him if they can't come to a fair deal with Parker. It would be unfortunate for Byrd, because he has been a good soldier and is a heck of a Safety but this is a business. If that were to happen then I would have to wonder which party would have more of the "leverage" that Parker mentioned in the article. The downside to that scenario I would think would be that a organization would have a disgruntled player and that they would be sending the wrong message to the rest of the team. Man, I hope that all parties involved gets this thing worked out and in a timely manner to boot! -

Ut oh, doesn't look like Byrd will be in a Bills' uniform for quite some time. Even if Byrd were to sign his offer sheet sometime this year and was able some part of this upcoming season, could the Bills franchise tag Byrd again for the following 2014 season? -
Life of a Bills fan - great YouTube video
Tipster19 replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is priceless! Thanks Steve for posting it, that was a great find. I'm asking this half jokingly, do you think that fans of other teams go through such a range of emotions like the one just displayed or is it just the Bills' fans that are cursed like this??! -
Coach Doug to Da'Rick - That's not being a Buffalo Bill
Tipster19 replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Put these 2 responses together and Rogers could have a new nickname, let's just start calling him Da'Bill That was hysterical, very funny stuff! Lol! Don't forget Cyclops, that guy was a monster! -
Is Jim Kelly ill ?? (update - has cancer)
Tipster19 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was thinking the same thing. Whatever it is it sounds more internal that just a recovery of some sort. What is scary is I can't think of anyone who represented the Bills on or off the field more than Jim Kelly. Here is to his health and may any of his issues, whatever they may be, be resolved in the most positive way. As for the "comedians" on this board who think that they are funny, you should be ashamed of yourselves as human beings, making insensitive cracks about him. I have to wonder why anyone would do that. If you're a Bills' fan then why would you joked about Jim Kelly's health??! And if you're not a Bills' fan then why would you come on a Bills' message board and take callous shots at one of our best representatives??! Mods, I'm all for Freedom of Speech but c'mon, this is a Bills' forum, can't one of you monitor this kind of trash??! For all of the Bills' fans who love this franchise/organization, we shouldn't be subjected to this kind of bs, dumping on one of the greatest Bills' icons of all time. It's actually harassment when you come to think about it. -

How cool and thanks for sharing, I love hearing anything about our Bills! Go Bills! -
I'm glad now that we didn't sign Darrius Heyward-Bey
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So many great responses! I agree wholeheartedly about having so much young WRs vs signing veterans, I think that we'll be much better off choosing and developing young players while employing our own specific scheme(s). Not only will we be able to get more years out of the younger players but also doing it at a much more reasonable pay rate. I was one of the ones who was hopeful that we would be able to sign the likes of Heyward-Bey, Meachum and any other veteran that I thought would improve our roster but I must admit that I unexpectedly find myself being intrigued with the fresh, bright direction that this franchise appears to be moving towards. Here's to us hopefully starting to lay the groundwork to turning the corner this year. I can't prove or validate that we are going to be good because I do understand that we have been promised so many times for so many years now that we are going to be different but I find myself gaining confidence under this new regime. I'm starting to Billieve again and it feels good! Hopefully this time I'm not wrong and the Bills will provide us with different results. Go Bills! -
Or any other veterans that were capable to "take the top off of a defense". Nothing personal against him, I don't even know much about him really other than him getting cracked by the Steelers' Ryan Mundy. It's understandable that he could be apprehensive after that monster hit but I like what the Bills are trying to accomplish, going after tough minded fast guys like Marquise Goodwin and others like Da'rick Rogers. I for one is hoping that this is going to be a cultural change difference for us for years to come. Also I'd like to take this time to congratulate Doug Whaley on his new promotion. Could this be the beginning of exciting times to be a Bills' fan?! I sure hope so! Go Bills!

The real scoop is he had Buffalo' play book downloaded in his phone and his girl was going to sell the rights to DC comics and Corey was pissed off that he wasn't going to get any of the royalties. I guess it was going to be made into a blockbuster movie this summer titled "Joker". It's about an evil force that takes a whole city hostage and just tortures the citizens until they can't take no more.
-
If that story is even remotely accurate than I would consider it an unfortunate change of events. Hopefully it is and there isn't more to the story. I will say that woman do things that other guys wouldn't even attempt due to the consequences.

Hear Doug Whaley talk about our top 5 draft picks
Tipster19 replied to BEAST MODE BABY!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks Beast Mode for posting these videos, they were informative on the direction of our draft. -
Man, what a strange difference it is to see a major piece of our team is being thrilled that he's playing in Buffalo. Of all of the great things that are coming to light with EJ I find this aspect being the best, that our guy is wanting and enjoying that he's a Buffalo Bill. I thought that I'd mention it and see if anyone else felt this refreshing feeling. Go Bills!

EJ Manuel's first few hours as a Buffalo Bill

Wow, what a great video, thanks for posting that!!! I can't wait for him to take his first snap! Go Bills! -
Not rosy enough??? I will say that it's quite a first post, wouldn't you say? Anyways keep up the passion, it's entertaining!

Btw I love this line. Aaaahh, nothing like a good rant! Let me add to it, accurate or inaccurate it doesn't make a difference to me, it purges the frustrations that have been suffered through all these years of ineptness. What has irked me more than just about anything else is the way that we use top draft picks on a position (CB) that is suppose to be critical to a defense's success and then just let them walk after their contracts are up. How many times have we repeated this principle??! I'm surprised that we kept McKelvin, maybe we are finally turning the corner with this type of thinking. The only other position that we seem to just "experiment" with is the RB position. Look at some of the RBs that we tried and failed with. It starts with Travis Henry then rolls right to Willis McGahee and then jumps right into the fire with Marshawn Lynch. We don't have a problem with evaluating the talent at this position, we just suck at matching up the personalities with our environment. I don't even have to say anything about Henry, his rap sheet speaks for itself but looking at McGahee and Lynch our "braintrusts" should have been a little smarter with these selections. McGahee came from a big time program in sunny Florida and Lynch, well he came straight from the hood of Oakland. Wasn't there a predraft report where he was shot at in a case of "mistaken identity"?! I don't know about you but I would have to call that a red flag. For the most part through the last decade or so the bulk of our rosters were made up of second tier caliber players and drafted star hoods. The first part of that equation is a bunch of players who are just thankful to be on an NFL roster playing and the second part were selected, they had no choice BUT to play here. Look, the only way that a team is to overcome personality/moral deficiencies is by having a strong locker room presence. We haven't had that in quite some time so why are we trying to fit square pegs into round holes??! The Steelers this year made it a priority to not only interview their draft prospects extensively but also to make a thorough examination of their backgrounds AND their families. Is this a practice that we should incorporate, especially that we are a small market franchise in a multi-million (billion?) dollar business that is making college kids instantly wealthy??! Ya think??! I don't know if this Marrone guy is the answer but until we start building a locker room which in turn will start resembling a team then no more of these "star" players please. One thing that I'll say about them stinking Patriots, you don't hear too many individuals' names being called out, they just play like a team. Until we realize what it takes to becoming one then we are always going to be changing administrators, players and philosophies. That's just my 2 cents.

Buddy on the John Murphy show
Tipster19 replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I think that is what I'm looking forward to the most. Buddy said something to the effect of adding toughness to the defense and I think we did that by adding a lunatic like Kiko to it! I can't wait to see him go monkey on someone! -
And I would like to thank the Vikings for passing on Vince Wolfork in the 2004 draft and taking Kenechi Udezel instead.

The other "franchise" QB's in the draft...
Tipster19 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, Nix stated on the John Murphy show that he liked Manuel, Nassib and Landry Jones so I would venture a guess that these were the 2 or 3 franchise type QBs.
