Bills vow Doug Marrone will make them winners
Tipster19 replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is this article a bull ****? How sad if it is but evened sadder that anything positive with this franchise has to be investigated by it's fans. Who's the world super sleuth that took it upon themselves to expose such fraudulent propaganda??! Hey, thanks Sherlock, another case solved! I haven't been around much lately and I can't say that I have missed this forum too much. As pathetic as this franchise has been the last dozen or so years, a portion of the fanbase is just as equal in their support of it. That portion seems to migrate here. Fans here can't seem to express their opinions without getting attacked more times than not. When did it all get so miserable? Are we that much in need to have this franchise gain some modest success for us not to turn on one another? Where are the days of the unbridled enthusiasm that used to flow so freely here??! I'm sorry but this forum turned into a toilet. There's no need for me to read these "publicity" pieces on the organization anymore, never did much anyways, I trust more in what I see. It's kind of like the same reason why I don't vote, it's all media bulkshit, manufactured images packaged for mass popularity. Now with that being said I also don't to come and watch the daily backbiting and cynical garbage that seems to have festered here! How sad and pathetic it has all became being associated with this organization in so facets. The season can't start soon enough! -

Other teams Training Camp injuries
Tipster19 replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure of the extent of the injury but it seems that while the Broncos are one of the favorites to be in the Super Bowl this year they are renting Rodgers-Cromartie this year for their run. Having a shaky secondary I bet that they would make a good trade partner for Byrd. We might be able to get a king's ransome for him. I would think that at the very worse next year's first round draft pick would be a lock, especially that it's expected that the Broncos would be picking late in the round. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/31/rodgers-cromartie-hauled-off-practice-field/ -
I haven't paid too much attention to either case, maybe a bit more to OJ's because he was a ex-Bill but not to any great depth. As far as Zimmerman goes the only thing that I caught was the fact that when he called in to the police they told him not to tail Martin anymore. Regardless if he was guilty or not I found this to be very poor judgement on Zimmerman's part and does make him accountable to some degree at this point. Ironically I dealt with an attorney shortly after OJ went on trial and he just left the law firm a few months before they took on the case. When I told him that I was a big Buffalo fan and that I couldn't believe that this was happening to OJ he just looked at me with this knowingly look on his face. It gave me this weirdest feeling and it compelled me to ask the obvious. He slowly nodded his head up and down and said beyond a shadow of a doubt that OJ did it. He further compounded the fact that the whole case was built on racism and prejudice. He also said that Johnny Cochran was brilliant to have OJ struggle to put the glove on and make it look like that it was too small and that it was impossible to fit his hand. I must say that I got the sickest feeling in my stomach at that point, to fully realize that this man gave me sense that OJ was unequivocally guilty and that he was going to walk scot free out of this horrendous crime, especially when I used to go to a ton of games when OJ was with NBC and would show up at the games and we would all go nuts, cheering this piece of garbage when he would walk by. This was the same guy that inspired me when I was a teenager in the early '70's to be a diehard (poor choice of word there) Bills' fan. I'm ashamed of him and even more ashamed of myself for being proud that he was "our guy". I don't know, I'm nowheres near the political type or anything like that with world events but I just happen to catch the announcement of the verdict last night on TV and found myself with some unexpected emotions that I didn't know how to deal with, especially because I knew so little about the details of a young man losing his life, regardless of his color. Then to hear these idiots express their anger publicly, motivated because the boy was an African-American but because it was more to do with race than anything else just makes this whole thing even uglier. As far as this country has come in the last 150+ years it's situations like these 2 that shows that we are still far from getting this whole thing right. Anyways the main point of this post is that I find the way that some of these football players weighing in on the verdict very disappointing. Calling out a man's life like the way Cruz did and other people's lives like Roddy White did very inexcusable. The clout that these players have, especially with what Cruz said, makes him almost accountable if something does happen to Zimmerman. In my opinion it is borderline criminal to be calling out someone's execution. To impact the outrage of these players' cries is the silence that was displayed when OJ was found innocent in Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman's murder. Matter of fact even when the majority of the black community felt that OJ was accountable in these deaths there still was a sense of relief when he was found innocent. Well now it's my turn to be outraged. When a African-American male was found innocent of murdering a white female it was ok but when a non African-American male kills a African-American male it is a criminal act to the fullest and African-American celebrity(s) are advocating the execution of the perpatraitor then that is downright disgusting. It's not about justice anymore, it's about revenge, prejudice and racism. I would like to remind Victor Cruz and others that when you seek revenge then you better dig 2 graves.

I have to agree with you. To me Thurman was special, very special. I always felt that he caught balls as good, if not better, than most WRs. Not that Spiller can't be an elite RB but Thurman is already in the HOF and Spiller is not. 'Nuff said.
-
As far as the conditioning goes, wasn't the guy touching the ball just 8-12 times in most games? He was snapping off huge runs (45-55 yds) more times than not. No, don't think that it was the conditioning, I think that the guy was gaining a shitload of yards in a short period of time.
-
Now that you pointed that out I noticed that Chandler was in on a few plays himself and was showing some great hustle. Nice to see! Go Bills
-
Way to step up and own it. While others may not have agreed with you back then I think that they would have to respect you now for not hedging on your belief(s), I know I do. Look, we can ALL enjoy Spiller now and the best part is the guy seems to be a real team player. I don't remember the guy ever crying when that idiot Gaily was stifling him at every turn. It's time for some more Spillericious moments in this upcoming season! Go Bills!
-
He just might be a watered down version of Jimmy Graham in Marrone's offense. The physical measurable seems to be fairly comparable except that Graham is significantly faster. I wouldn't be too surprised if our offense favored a Parcells' type of game plan, play some safe power football, taking some calculated shots down the field, having one to two game changing plays and not going into a game with a heavy play book. Playing error free football is more important than having a complex strategy (Chan Gaily). Marrone/Hackett has clearly stated that our offense will be uptempo and simplistic. I suspect that Marrone is hammering fundamental football to our players on both sides of the ball.
-
It's easy to dwell on all the negatives with this franchise but it's important for to also not to lose sight of us having a true superstar on our team. I realize that there is a lot of unknowns for us going into the season but fact is Spiller is an elite talent and I just hope that we don't screw him up. With that being said I'm in total agreement with mrags that Spiller should threaten for the rushing title barring injury and Marrone & Co being idiots. Furthermore I believe that Spiller should also be considered as one of the favorites for the most combined yards from scrimmage this year. There, I said it and I didn't even cringe! Lol! In my best Tim Russert voice, Go Bills!

Speaking of the TE position, I'm curious if this position becomes more of a priority in future drafts/Free Agency to this administration than it has in years past. It would be nice if we could finally see us utilize ALL positions to their full capabilities. -

Excellent commentary! While none of us really knows what is about to unfold with this season and with this staff but I am hopeful (once again! Lol!) that this time there really is a difference. I totally agree with what you said about Brandon, I think that you're spot on. When it is all over and done with I'm glad that we have Brandon, especially in the capacity that he is currently in, he's much more suited for it and I truly believe that he has nothing but the best interest in his heart for this franchise and community. -

Well said. No, I read every response that you wrote and I'm accurate in my responses. I was the one who said about spitting in a DB's face and I also concurred with another poster about Moulds looking for a flag more than the ball towards the end of his career, so maybe you better proofread the responses before making accusations. I'm not taking offense, just getting a little annoyed with the way that you just keep on hammering your point about Moulds. I kept an open mind the first COUPLE of times but it's kind of like when a wife keeps on harping on something that she may even be right about but after awhile it just gets irritating and you don't want to hear it anymore. Anyways Moulds' character was never the point of this thread but you took it upon yourself to make that one of the main issues on this thread. Give up the crusade, this was just about his sentiment with Buffalo and his playing ability and yes he was a great WR, you said so yourself, even if it was only for one year. I don't understand how someone can be great and not be great all at the same time.??? Stop making this ugly and let the fans enjoy some of the good things and players that have happened to this franchise. Lord knows we need SOMETHING to feel good about, we all have suffered long enough. For your second paragraph, I agree totally on your opinion on that. I have never been the one that believes in kidding one's self and minimizing the reality of our record(s). Good point. This was really just my intention when I started this thread but I'm wondering if it was even worth starting it. That's too bad, too many times things/issues/topics turns ugly on this board. I don't know about other teams' fanbase and/or their message boards but there is too much of a percentage of Bills' fans that are negative, cynical and just downright miserable at times on this board. Whatever happen to just being happy, hopeful and proud to being your favorite team's fan??? -

For someone who wants to discredit "would of and could of" your response is loaded with them and maybes. The difference between being a great WR and a good WR is a little blurred by your own estimations. If I'm understanding you right you're stating that Moulds was a great WR for one year and just a good WR for most of his career (5 years of good play?), right??. It seems to me that the vast majority of the responses on this thread feel that Moulds was not just a good WR but instead a great WR but that is because we're Buffalo fans and we're partial and we're overlooking his actual abilities, right? Do I got all this correct? -

Look, this thread was started on 3 major points. 1. That it Moulds' sentiments on playing in Buffalo was greatly appreciated. 2. That he was a great WR for us and was a big time Miami killer. 3. That his stats would have been a lot better if there were more continuity and stability at the QB position while he played for us. Is any of this inaccurate or exaggerated? I don't know how this got all so debated and twisted. Does anyone really disagree with those 3 major points of this thread? Does anymore think that we would have been better off without him or that he wasn't worthy of our 1st rd pick? I'm just asking because I really don't know why he is getting so hotly debated. As far as character goes he is not a good role model but I don't know why that is coming into play. There are a ton of great players, some are in the HOF and some are not, that I wouldn't give a hoot about off the field but Moulds did play for us and I believe that we were a much better offense because of him. Furthermore he has always spoke highly of playing for us, has always been proud of being a Buffalo Bill and also being associated with this community. -

This is almost comical. What is it that you want or looking for out of a WR??! Moulds was a beast on the field PERIOD. I've read your argument about Moulds being overrated over and over, and to be honest with you, it's tiresome. When I posted this thread it was all about his sentiment about him being a Buffalo Bill and how much it was appreciated. I must have made a mistake in saying that the guy was a great player because you can't harp enough about how much he is overrated. Are you for real??! Numbers and stats don't lie, you act like 14+ yds per catch is average for a season. Furthermore I don't care what numbers and stats show, I watch him play, the guy was a baller! If you wanted to say that at the end of his career as a Bill the guy was looking for a flag more than the ball I could give you that and that spitting in a DB's face and slapping women around wasn't very cool or classy I could understand that but that was not what this thread was about. Instead you just want to continuously go on and on about discrediting his ability as a player, like you think that you're really going to win over the masses of Bills' fans into thinking this guy couldn't play the game of football. Boy, we sure must of really blown a 1st rd pick on this guy! Get real! I don't know what this guy has done as a player to really piss you off like this but your arguments are getting weaker with each response that you post. Start another post about his poor character and I might even join you in this opinion but as far as a player it might be time to give up this crusade. -

Wow, what a great video, thanks for bringing me back to a happier time! Seeing that we're posting videos here's one that I think that the Buffalo Faithful will enjoy. TD Moulds! I never got tired of hearing that! Yeah, Moulds was a beast and anyone who thinks different must of got refused his autograph or something because as a Buffalo fan how could you not be proud of him being a Buffal Bill and not think that he wasn't one of our all time great WR??!!! Btw, wasn't Ty Law the top CB at the time? It was great to see the names of some of our great past players, players like Andre Reed, Reuben Brown, John Fina, Jay Riemersma, Doug Flutie and others! Man, we had some great teams/players! Here's to the Bills being resurrected and getting back to the top of our division. Go Bills! -

Oops, I meant to say Torry Holt, not Torry Smith! My bad! -
I turned it on during him, Ben Utecht, Torry Smith and I believe with some other former players. I listened for a minute or two but they asked Moulds a couple of questions and one of them was does Buffalo have the best fans in the NFL. Without a moment of heisitation Eric stated absolutely! He then went on to say that no matter what the weather was like or our record Buffalo would ALWAYS sell out. I appreciate his sentiment and I have always felt that #80 got robbed in his career. If there were any kind of continuity or stability during his career here his numbers would even be nastier. The guy was a baller and was a big time Miami killer. I still got a dark blue jersey of his in my closet that is way oversized for me so I ended up giving it to one of my sons. I remember one time that Terrell Owens was asked during the height of his career that if he were to assemble a team what players would be choose and Moulds was the first WR of choice for him. At the time that was a pretty big compliment coming from T.O. #80 will always be one of my all time Bills.

Deacon Jones versus Bruce Smith
Tipster19 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I'm not mistaken, I'm going by memory here, he was fighting out of Akron, possibly Cleveland, during the time he was fighting the likes of Ali, Ron Lyle etc etc. I think that he was actually a part time bouncer in between his bouts. I just googled Shavers and none of what I stated can be validated, like I said this is just by memory but I could be way off base. Bottom line is that Shavers was the hardest hitting boxer that I have ever witnessed and that includes Tyson. During the '70's/early '80's I've watched more than my fair share of boxing. After this time the boxing game seemed to suffer and fade more and more, especially with the emergence of kick boxing and then the arrival of the MMA fighters. -

Tipster19 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget, someone mentioned him earlier, Ernie Shavers. The guy was a devastating puncher. Of course Joe Frazier but there were others like Kenny Norton and even Ron Lyle, that all were hard punchers but also could actually box. I would be shocked if anyone who was old enough to actually have witnessed this era of boxers and also saw Tyson's career/fights didn't think that Ali would absolutely dominate Tyson.
