Screw Rotoworld's Buffalo Bashing
Tipster19 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like Kyle said, a lot of players cried when they came here and a lot of them cried when it was time to leave. I’m in sales and man how I wish that I was in the publicity part of recruiting players. It would be so easy to put a spin on coming here. It would be the old half glass empty vs the half glass full. To the majority of players the money comes first but the ego usually comes second. I would put a spin on about their legacy, that they could clod something that would be historic and that would be that they could be the difference in turning this franchise around. It’s not like this team is trash, the defense is right up there and that we have the most important piece on offense is already in place and that is a YOUNG big arm QB. Show Brown the video of Josh leaping over defenders and displaying a strong will to win throughout the season. The secondary that is probably second to none and how the fans embrace their star players like Kyle and his farewell game. It’s been said, by Gruden I believe, that Brown is the hardest working player. Well, that’s what this whole team is about! Hasn’t Josh been compared to Rothelisberger on top of it minus the ego?? We need Shady to get involved and be an ambassador for us. -
I had to take my wife to the emergency room earlier today and they kept her overnight. My son woke me up to the news and I’m just leaving to go home for the night. As I was exiting I passed 2 young guys and they wished me a good night. As I passed through the double doors I stopped and turned around. I took a few steps back and asked them if they watch football. They both said yes and as I was standing there in my Abuffali sweat jacket I informed them that the Bills just traded for AB. It was great seeing their faces drop as I pointed to the emblem on my jacket I gave them a great “Go Bills” salute! Hahaha, it’s a great time to be a Bills’ fan! Go Bills!

Question. What is the opinion on G Wyatt Teller?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey, thanks everyone, all of you seem to agree for the most part and have painted a very good picture of what to expect out of Teller. The thing that stuck out to me the most about him from last year was although he stuck up for Josh in that Miami game when Kiko was taking a cheap shot against him it was disappointing to me to hear Teller say that Kiko didn’t do anything wrong or something to that affect. -
Is he the answer at the G position and we only need 1 other G to solidify our starters at this positio?. I admit that I didn’t get to see him enough last year. Between my job and not having Direct TV last year I didn’t get to see enough of him to draw a conclusive opinion of him. Seeing that this is such a knowledgible message board I’ll trust in all of your responses. Thanks in advance.

Jordan Phillips is trying to recruit players.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I noticed that too. What I drew from that was his role is still undefined. I don’t think that he’s gonna be the 3 technique DT, I believe that that position is still fluid (enter Ed Oliver?). -
DeVante Parker, Duke Williams, Robert Foster, Zay mostly and some to the TEs Dwayne Allen and Jesse James. I never did add another RB, Shady’s replacement down the road but I’m sure the front office will do a fine job in figuring that out.

Add in Dwayne Allen and Jesse James and this roster would be complete!

Jordan Phillips is trying to recruit players.

Neither one would be a full time starter but it would make one heck of a rotation though, especially if we draft Oliver with the #9 pick. -
No, I’m sorry, that’s on me but now I fixed it. I was talking about working out a trade with Houston for Jadeveon Clowney but I forgot to put his name in there. My bad.

This is by far my favorite part of the year, the eve of FA and just before the draft. This is where all the hopes and dreams are envisioned right before reality actually sets in. Year after year it still doesns’t deter me though because I’m a Bills’ fan and as we all know we never give up and we never give in. With that being said I concocted to what I consider a dream team. I would love to see us be ultra active in FA and I believe that we will to some great degree. Here’s what an would love. Jordan Phillips has enough salesmanship to woo DeVante Parker and Ndamukong Suh to come here. In addition the Bills work out with Houston’s front office a trade for Clowney where we can keep our 1st rd pick this year (maybe trade them this year’s 2nd rder and maybe next year’s 1st OR 2nd rder). The Carolina connection comes back into play and we pick up RT Daryl Williams and for depth LB Thomas Davis. C Mitch Morse finds a new address for 2019 and it’s at One Bills Drive. I’m getting a good night’s sleep and the dream continues. It’s no secret that we need more on the OL, the G position in particular seeing that we just fortified the C and RT position. Rams G Roger Saffold cashes out one last big contract and heads east. Seeing that we still have our pick at #9 overall Ed Oliver finishes off the greatest off season in the Buffalo Bills’ history. Oh *****, the alarm just went off, the dream is over! Oh well, here’s to the 2019 season. Go Bills!

I would love for us to get DeVante Parker, that would be great news! I’ve been advocating for him for the longest time. I posted about D’Neal Harry a couple of days ago because he kind of reminds me of a cross between a bigger Anquan Bolden and a DeVante Parker. Obviously McBeane thought enough of Bolden to sign him at one point, maybe DeVante could be in play for us. Lord knows we need a big time WR and Parker could potentially fill that bill! -
All 3 have been tagged and all 3 seem to be available for trade for lesser value than what the tag requires. 2 questions here, first should the Bills’ be players for any one of them and secondly if so which one? I would think Clowney if the price is right but I truly don’t have a good take on any of them.

Well the good news is that we have plenty of money to spend so that is not going to be a factor. -
On the Bills’ app Phillips is being interviewed by John Murphy and Tasker under the title “We’re trying to build something great here”. At the 7:10 mark he states that he’s trying to recruit players to come to Buffal but refused to reveal who when asked. Later in the interview, at the 9:10 mark, he says that he has played in the shadows of some great players and mentions Ndamukong Suh in particular. Seeing that Suh is a FA I’m wondering if Phillips has tried to persuade him to come to Buffalo. Also with the expected release of a couple of other ex teammates , Dolphins’ DEs Robert Quinn and Andre Branch, it wouldn’t surprise me too much if any or a combination of 2 of these 3 show up in Buffalo.

Grabbing double TEs in FA could help offset the OL.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like everything you said here, well thought out. -
In most cases a blocking TE is considered a 6th, 7th or an 8th OL. Seeing how OL is an area of concern for the Bills I’m wondering if securing a couple of TEs in FA would help in several different ways. 1. We need TEs period. 2. Help fortify the OL. 3. Provide more leniency for the Bills in the draft. Meaning not only they really won’t have to address the TE in the draft. 4. It also allows the Bills not to be forced to take an OL early, especially at the RT position. If they did take an OL with the 9th overall pick then I hope they take Jawaan Taylor, I like his demeanor. This will also allow the Bills to take a top defensive player with their first pick, hopefully an edge rusher. Now for the 2 that I would like for the Bills to secure in FA is first Jesse James and then the Ravens Nick Boyle. Both are excellent blockers and James has better than average pass catching ability. If like redemption type players then I would like the Bills to consider Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Good player, great story, put him on a 1 year prove it deal with incentives and the Bills just might find themselves a real sleeper. Btw, I want to give a shout out to Jason Crooms, I think that he’s a very good young player that is going to play an integral part for the Bills for years to come. I like the concept of this, adding some good blocking TEs to help out on the OL, affording the luxury for the Bills to address other bigger areas of need.

ASU WR K’Neal Harry is projected as a 2nd rd prospect.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Forget about all the intangibles. When was the last Bill who had great hands. That’s what I think that I like the most about Harry, I feel like he won’t juggle or drop too many passes. -

Good analogy, I can see that about Moulds. I don’t know, it seemed like he had to come back or had to hold up and wait for the ball. His QB threw the ball flat footed too many times for my liking. Needless to say that wouldn’t be an issue for Josh. -
He reminds me of a bigger Anquan Bolden and the agility of a DeVante Parker. He’s projected to be anywheres from a late 1st rd pick and as deep as a 3rd rder. Personally I can’t imagine him going past the first 40 picks and really sooner than that. I would love to see him be a Bill, pairing up with Robert Foster. I’m not so sure about Zay, I’m really not a big advocate for him but I’ll be the first to admit that I could be wrong about Jones. Check out Harry’s highlights, he’s pretty impressive.

Great post! I do feel that we need to get in front of them whenever and wherever we can.

The basic rundown is that there are 32 compensatory picks awarded each year. The compensatory picks are selected starting in the 3rd rd and continues all the way through to the end of the draft. There is 7 compensatory picks in the 3rd rd. That delutes the rds a bit especially when each rd after is adding more compensatory picks to the draft. Not all teams receive them and this year it was divided up amongst just 15 teams and yes New England was heavily compensated with 4. That is the most a team can be awarded each year and the Patriots are 1 of 3 teams to accomplish that, the other teams being Arizona and Washington. It gets worse. The Patriots are also just 1 of 2 teams to have multiple 3rd rd compensatory picks (#97 & #101) in addition to their original pick (#73), the other team being the Rams. The rich keep on getting richer. In comparison Buffalo has no compensatory picks this year as we all well know. Between their original picks and 3 from trades, 4th rder (#131) via KC for Reggie Ragland, a 5th rder (#158) via Oakland for AJ McCarron and a 7th rder (#228) via Carolina for Kevon Seymour. All this boils down to is that the Patriots have found a way again to to put themselves in a winning position. They have 12 total draft picks which half, 50%, comes in the first 2 days of the draft while on the other hand Buffalo has a total of 10 picks with only 3, 30%, comes in the first 2 days of the draft. This has to change if we hope to be competitive, especially in our own division. Here is what I would like to see. I don’t care about the quantity of picks that we have but rather see us have a better quality of picks. I propose the idea of the Bills packaging up their original picks (#112 & #147) in the 4th and 5th rd and trade up into the 3rd rd in front of the compensatory picks that start with Washington at #96. That would give the Bills 4 out of their 9 picks (44.4%) in the first 2 days of the draft. The Bills need to even up the numbers and percentages a far bit more if they ever hope to compete, especially in our own division.

Is it inconceivable for the Bills to trade for OBJ?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IF OBJ gets traded then I have to question why they gave him such a big contract last year. They were satisfied enough to re-sign but now they’re not??? Something strange would have to be up with that. To me it would indicate that his character, on and off the field, aren’t enough of an issue. I would have to think that it is more to doing with retooling/rebuilding that roster. Basically they are sacrificing one of their bigger assets for the better of the team and it’s future. Give up 1 stud for possibly a couple of good players and/or a better financial structure (contracts, salary cap etc etc). -
Is it inconceivable for the Bills to trade for OBJ?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2 more aspects I would like to emphasize. First OBJ is an elite talent, talent like him comes around once in a great while. The second benefit to him is that if he were to ever come here that statement alone would smash the stigma of FAs wanting to play here. I realize that it would be a trade that got him here but it would still represent if a superstar like him ended up coming here, producing and not being miserable it would blow the top off of this being a place where careers either died or never gotten off the ground. McCoy, although it came later in his career, came here and then OBJ and loved it here, the spin offs could be endless.
