With MM in Miami, I wonder which Bills' players
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that it's imperative that we infuse new veterans on this team. Players with heart, players with character. We have been sold this bill of sales during the Donahoe era but now it truly has to be done. I posted earlier about possible Raven players who will be available but sadly there was no input. Say what you want about LB Ray Lewis but the guy has all the intensity for an old, injury prone veteran. With MM being familiar with our current personnel and have to play Miami twice a year, that provides an eighth of our shedule. We need to stay even with them, especially that they are a division foe. Don't celebrate this Mularkey hiring too prematurely, it may come back to haunt us if we don't make the proper personnel changes this off-season. -
Are the Ravens going to dismantle their team?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is no fantasy or sensationlism. This was all reported yesterday thru the Baltimore Sun. These players will be available in some fashion. In the case of Lewis and McCallister, it would be in some kind of trade scenario. Demps, he's just going to get the boot. Another note is it looks like Fassel is going to stay put as OC. Who knows, things in this league always take a 90 degree turn. We'll see what happens. If these players become available would we be in the market for them? I was just looking for some input on the desires of the fans. -
CB Chris McCallister in Buffalo blue? The Ravens may be looking to rid him and FS Will Demps. If we can't work anything out with Clements then McCallister could be a viable option. I'd like to see us add Demps to our secondary. He's a hell of alot younger than Vincent. The Ravens also sent out feelers about trading MLB Ray Lewis. Could we have any interest in him? Should we load with more ex University of Miami and AFC North players? It will be interesting to see what the new coaching regime reacts to influxing new players to our team. That is one aspect of Donahoe that was never boring, his willingness to wheel and deal.

Would you rather use our #8 pick overall...
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ouch! That's a pretty steep price to pay for a old timer. I'm out on that transaction. We need new, young blood. I'd rather just keep our pick if that was the case. -
I think with the new regime coming in I'd rather have more resources to work with. If this means trading out of a early 1st round pick to, say a later 1st round pick with compensation or for a player(s) and/or picks, then I say do it. We need much more than just a bluechip player. The growing curve can be accelerated with the proper selection of a coach(s) and utilizing a early 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. I for one is sick of waiting for a winning product to be employed. I wonder if SOPRANO 3695 could also shed some light on the direction of this team after the HC issue is resolved. What do you say SOPRANO, any word about the upcoming strategies? If not now then please keep us informed in the near future.

You can cross off Caldwell as HC...
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
James Lofton?!!! How valid is he really? I don't even think the Buffalo diehards believe or want him as our next coach. I think that I read somewhere on this board that he may be better suited for the OC position. Hey, I liked him alot as a player but after all the turmoil and unsettleness in Buffalo right now I wouldn't even want to take a chance with him at that position. As far as the Rooney Rule, I think that it would be pretty insulting that the only way that we complied with it was to bring in one our own ex-players who has limited experience. I think this organization needs more right now. -
...Buffalo is only going thru the motions for the minority candidate rule. As for OC...forget about it. Why in the world would he give up those indoor arsenals for the frigid tundra? Especially with Dungy still up in the air about his retirement. The Colts used him as a fill in during the Dungy tragedy. Wouldn't it make sense that if Dungy retired Caldwell would succeed him? Until that whole thing works out I wouldn't expect anything about Caldwell to come to fruitation. No, I think that this SOPRANO 3695 is right on the money. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Buffalo announced Sherman tomorrow sometime. A distant second would be Jauron. Me personally, I hope it's Sherman with Bates not far behind as DC. If it's not Bates that maniac Henderson would do just fine.

The longer that Buffalo waits to announce a coaching staff, the less they'll have to choose from. Hopefully we'll have an announcement BEFORE the week-end.

Dolphins to interview mularkey
Tipster19 replied to MartyBall4Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems like a good fit. Saban likes to hire/reemploy quitters. At least Ricky has a reasonable excuse, he's on drugs. -
I just heard it on Entertainment Tonight. Seems that old Ralph Wilson is tired of all of these poor actors impersonating a coach that he wanted at least get a Oscar winning performance (Training Day) for the upcoming season. Denzel gave such a riveting performance as coach Herman Boone in "Remember The Titans" that it mesmerized Mr. Wilson. And if this turns out with a happy ending like all the other Disney productions, then there will be incentives at year's end. If this hiring happens I hope we sign Joe Pesci for DC. Not only is he the best supporting actor out there but he can also show our defense how to make a hit.

There's alot of talk about HCs and DCs...
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mid season big blowup between these two "buddies". Billick isn't going anywheres, Fassel could like the unsettleness for HC in Buffalo. Either way, he's not a poor choice for OC. We could do worse. -
If that's the case I wouldn't want him for a HC but I'd think that Jim Fassel would make as good a OC as any that's available right now. I just think that at this time Buffalo can't fool around with any inexperienced HCs, DCs and OCs. You can bet that a former HC will land the job of leading this organization. I think the same will hold true with the DC and OC positions too. Any other suggestions for a OC?

Why isn't Dick LeBeau being mentioned for HC?
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cincy was a mess long before he got there. That last whole coaching regime was the final straw with that cheapskate Mike Brown. After that the league was ready to step in and force him to relinquish some of his authority. They were tired of him keeping the franchise a laughingstock. That was more the icing on the cake for Marvin Lewis' hiring than anything else. -
Isn't he a founding figure with the blitz? His teams are always in the better half of the defensive stats. With plenty of experience, I'm surprised that he hasn't been considered. Could this be the next Weiss/Crennel overlook? The league really needs to change their policy on the postseason hirings. The best best canidates are getting iced for being deep in the play-offs.
-
There's your minority canidate. Now we'll see who gets hired. This should happen rather quickly now.

The way things have been going word has it that city hall was closed. Now what?

LeBeau as HC, Bates as DC & Saunders as OC
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is wrong with any of this trio for the proposed positions? Talk about stability, I think these three could provide that and much more. Haslett, April and Sherman just don't give me confidence. -
First move in the post MM era....
Tipster19 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too late, he's on his way to a possible SuperBowl. Thanks Donahoe. -
I would really like to hear Rudy's take on this whole mess.

LeBeau as HC, Bates as DC & Saunders as OC
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That makes it more disturbing. He blew out after a year. He must have had no confidence in what he was seeing. This would be a good coaching staff. They all have plenty of experience and connections to other assistant coaches and players. Any opinions on this? -
Are Ralph's Ears Getting Bigger?
Tipster19 replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about his ears getting bigger but I do believe that his brain is getting smaller. -
LeBeau as HC, Bates as DC & Saunders as OC
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, but look at what and who he had to work with. Ownership was difficult until Marvin Lewis was hired. Also the second time around you're better acclimated, learning from your past mistakes. When LeBleau blew out of here for Pittsburgh that should have been another indication that things weren't right in Buffaloland. Too many past players and coaches came and went during the Donahoe era. He talked a good game to get them here but they all whistled a different tune on their way out. Too many were disgruntled. Hey hindsight is 20/20 and I was a big believer in him also. I'm just observing, like many others, at just what a mess this organization is right now. It's in shambles and it's going to be a long time before it can regain a winning form. How sad. -
OK, I'm ready. LeBeau has already been a HC and he's defense oriented. Bates is hardnosed and that's exactly what these candyasses need. I'm sure he is done in Green Bay also. Saunders is offense oriented and he could maximize the talent that is intact. Now that Mularkey is gone I don't think that you can count on Wyche anymore. Just a thought and I didn't want to miss out on all the speculation that is going on. It's one way to get some cheap kicks out of what's been a miserable season.

Where would you find this type of information? I would like to see if Roscoe is activated and whose spot he would be taking. Thanks and enjoy the game.
