Looks like the Jets may sign Runyan.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think not getting Runyan will make or break our season, or least I hope not. Are we THAT fragile? IF we do land up in the basement then the good news is that we can't get any worse, we can only get better. -
They offered him a contract. The two sides are expected to continue negotiations Thursday, March 23.
-
If he is ready to start the season then how about offering him a contract based on two big clauses? The first one would be based on his behavior. The second clause would be based on his playing time and health. The guy is huge and has alot of potential but only if he can stay on the field. He would probably be dirt cheap and one would think that he's at a crossroad on his career. Either this guy is done with football or he is ready to try and salvage the rest of his career. I would at least interview him and see where his head is at. He could land up being a steal for the right price and the right team. It also wouldn't hurt to stick it in the Fish's face with their own UFA. Wouldn't that be poetic justice!

A total of 79 restricted free agents received qualifying offers from their old clubs and are subject to the first refusal/compensation system of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The old club has a right of first refusal to all players listed below. Compensation is as listed in the column on the right. If the old club simply has a right of first refusal but is not entitled to any compensation, the designation "ROFR” (right of first refusal) appears in the column. In order to submit an offer sheet, a new club must have available the required choice or choices, defined as its own or better choices in the applicable rounds, in the 2006 NFL Draft. Offer sheets may be submitted to players in this category no later than 11:59 p.m., New York time, on April 21. That explains Chicago's DE Israel Idonije. There is another interesting possibility. Atlanta's DT Antwan Lake. He may be worth an invitation for a visit. Here's a link. http://www.atlantafalcons.com/team/playerBio.jsp?id=1638

With TO going to Dallas & Keyshawn to the Giants..

No way! We'd just be giving him away. Moulds has GREAT value to certain teams, especially the Eagles. Here's a trade. Moulds to the Eagles for DT Hollis Thomas and their 3rd rder (#78). See if they'll squawk. We got PLENTY of time. Check out the link, Hollis is getting long in the tooth for a DT. http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/team/tea...ails.jsp?id=538 -
I think that Marv is not done with looking at RFAs. There is still plenty of time left for him to take some more stabs at other teams' rosters. The one RFA that I would love for us to invite for a visit would be KC's T Jordan Black. He's a 4 year player from Notre Dame. He's got size, youth , experience and brains. He also backs up both tackles Willie Roaf and John Welborn. Better yet, he'll only cost a 5th rder. If he's as valid as I hope he is then that he would be a good value.

That is a great idea about pumping up their fans. The Eagles HAVE made trades in the draft when they really wanted someone. Hopefully their administration feels like their fans. -
We should trade EM now while he still has value.

It's inevitably. Revel in it and embrace it. This is a GREAT turn of events for us. Moulds, and everybody else is not around forever. Enjoy the memories and look towards the future. Hopefully, and I think he will, Marv & Co. make the right moves with the compensation that we get from trading Moulds. -
Moulds given permission to seek trade
Tipster19 replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Philly wants him, and I'm sure they do, then I wouldn't trade Moulds unless it was for their 1st rd pick (#14) and then them either one of our 3rd rd picks or our 4th rder. That's it. They have a big need at this position. Make them pay, especially after that jerk around for Travis Henry last year. Otherwise, we'll find another partner. This is actually the best thing that has happen for us this off season, as far as player personnel goes. We get to trade an aging great reciever for some desperately needed great potential youth. This should be a happy day in this organization. -
Too many high profile recievers in this division. The Giants now have Keyshawn (if the early reports are accurate), Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer. Down in Dallas they'll have TO and Terry Glenn, who in my opinion will be the most dangerous of the bunch, with our favorite QB throwing to them. They also have Copper who has alot of potential. How in the world could they not be in the Eric Moulds sweepstakes? They NEED a high caliber WR, even if it's only for a year or two. Traditionally they have always lacked in this dept. Here's where we get a trade partner, either draft pick(s) and/or a caliber player of need. There is so much more that I could add to this post but I think that I made my main point. Please think about the ramifications of the Eagles NOT having a big time reciever. PS. I forgot to mention Washington with their new additions. They already have Moss and HB Chris Cooley and now they added Randel-El, Brandon Lloyd and Christian Fauria. Oh, they'll be passing in this division.

The guy was a high school RB and even started his college career as one. He is a good blocker and it's a position that hasn't been solidified. I like the idea of dual roles for players and he can still be a WR at times when he doesn't spell MaGahee. Maximize our players' talents and abilities. New England does and it seems not only are they successful but I think what helps to contribute to that is that it helps chemistry and team work. I really have a hard time accepting as just our reciever. Adding more to his job description might make it easier to swallow having him on the team. If Jason Peters can convert from a TE to a LT than this should be somewhat realistic.

Here's a couple of scenarios that wouldn't upset me. Trade Moulds and our 5th or 6th rd pick to the Eagles for SS Michael Lewis. In addition I would then trade our #8 pick, this year's 2nd rder and next year's 2nd rder to the Saints so we can select Ferguson. With our two 3rd rders should be able to net us a quality LB and another good O-Lineman or a decent DT. Draft picks aren't a lock, I rather obtain a proven young veteran and a blue chip OT. If this were accomplished then I would feel that we established a successful off season. These crap shoot draft picks and garbage FAs just ain't cutting it anymore. -

I bet that Green Bay and the Eagles would be interested trade partners for Moulds. Matter of fact, the Eagles have the #46 (2nd rd) and #78 (3rd rd) picks. I would be pretty sure that they wouldn't have any qualms with coughing up that #46 for Moulds. If my scenario could be accurate then Ferguson basicly just cost us Moulds and Henry, two disgruntled players. One who can't stay healthy and one who is on the wrong side of the hill. Yeah, I would do that for Ferguson in a heartbeat. -

Once again, I love Moulds but he's starting to be too close to the end of his career. If we were to get a 2nd or 3rd rd pick for him then I say that maybe we could package that with our #8 pick to move up so we could get Ferguson. Moulds situation is different than Nate Clements. Nate is young and still has a good many years left. It's time to grab value for the long term, not just to think about the upcoming year. I think the Saints are the one we need to target. Gandy is long in the tooth and they may want to use their pick for his replacement. If we got a 2nd or 3rd rd pick for Moulds then I would gladly give our #8 pick, the 2nd or 3rd rder that we got for Moulds and MAYBE the latter of one of our 3rd rder for the #2 pick overall for Ferguson. The Saints would make that deal. We would still have our original draft picks and I would use the first day picks (a 2nd and 3rd rder) on replenishing our defense. -

Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you use Moulds as a bargaining chip to move up in the draft? Either that or use a combination of picks to move up. We got an extra 3rd rder from the Travis Henry trade or we could use a pick from next year's draft. This Ferguson would definitely be someone to anchor our O-Line. A great ball control offense could help soften the blow of losing someone like Moulds. Just a thought. Here's a website, check him out. http://greenbaypressgazette.packersnews.co..._25214200.shtml -

No the idea was to get some input from people who were involved in aspects like scouting talent, filmrooms, player and coach associations and just some general knowledge on how organized operations would operate. I realize that there are many players who really don't know or even care what is going on around them, that it's just a business for them. People would be shocked to know that there is more players than you would think that don't even have a clue on past greats who have played the game less than 20 years ago. Some of these current players are just great athletes, nothing more and they don't care to be. If they are satisfied with that then that's great. I don't see anything wrong with that. I just wanted to hear from anyone who might of had or has some inside insights, opinions and input who has/had the interest and passion of the intricacy of this sport and league. -
Look, this is a business. How old is Moulds? 32 soon to be 33? I am a big Moulds fan but it doesn't make too much sense keeping him. Not too much success is expected for the upcoming year. This team has too many holes to address at this point. To make matters worse, Moulds wants out badly, very badly. By the time that this team is any kind of serious post season threat, Moulds will be ancient. We have plenty of WRs but none of Moulds' caliber but our QB position and it's ability is still an unknown factor. The draft is our future and unfortunately, Moulds is quickly becoming our past. This may seem off the wall but it's meant just for anology. In the wildlife when the sick, weak and the old, and that's where Moulds is starting to approach, they get cut from the herd. Why wait when there is no value left? Let Moulds replace himself with a draft pick. The Eagles have a knack of parlaying their aging players BEFORE they have nothing left in their tanks. All I'm saying is that we're going to take our lumps this year to some degree. Why not minimize our growing pains for the future. With the right draft picks and selections we can load up our O-Line, strengthen our defense and utilize our adequate offensive weapons that we already posess. Make this a more defensive team with a ball control offense and eliminate the pressure on the QB position. With trading Moulds, I'm sure that we could get a possible 2nd or 3rd rd pick with possibly a second tier player for depth for him. With more cap money and draft pick(s), we will be able to reload with potentially good young talent for the near future. In addition to more cap money, we may even be able to afford and/or obtain a quality starter in free agency for another area of need. I don't mean to beat this subject to death or to sound disloyal but I just think that alot of good could come out of this type of scenario, and not just for us but for Eric also.

Is this where I'm supposed to crawl into a fetal position and cover up because I was honest and it didn't measure up to your intelligence? I asked for intelligent and competent opinions and inputs. Thanks for sharing yours. -

Any chance of you elaborating more on Perry Fewell? You stated that the defense sucked. How much was Fewell responsible for? Based on what you know of him, do you think that he will be more of a plus or a minus for us? I'm hoping that P-FUNK doesn't equate into the Bills being a B-FUNK. Another underacheiving season would be devastating. Thanks for your input. -

Well, I've been to every home play-off games in the early 90's, and several regular season games, EXCEPT the greatest come back game(aargh)! The only reason I didn't go to that game was my buddy is a diehard Houston fan and he was so sure that they were going to win. I must admit, I thought we were going to lose too. I live(d) in Rochester, born and bred, and my buddy was even willing to pay for the tickets and drive both ways. I didn't have the stomach to put up with his mouth up and back AND during the whole game. Needless to say when I turned on the radio to hear the game, oh I almost forgot about the misery of the game being blacked out, I just about had a stroke! So you see, I am the prototypical Bill fan. My fortune has always mirrored the team's. Since then I moved to SW Florida and I have attended several games at Miami and Tampa. Most have been with the Bills involved, some have not. Matter of fact, I was in the endzone at this last Miami/Buffalo game, and much to my horror, got to see us lose in the last minute right in front of my face. The only good thing, other than Evans having a monster game, was I was sitting right next to a very drunk Miami idiot who was screaming in my ear the WHOLE game. I really thought that we were going to land up into a brawl but the good news was that he got so discouraged by mid 4th quarter that he moved to another section. These are some of my miseries and mistakes that I have made with being loyal to the Bills. I know that I am only one of many who have had their heart broken with this organization but I still love 'em and support 'em just like so many of us. I'd be interested in other fans heartbreak stories with this team. We may not like or agree with each other on this board but we ALL do belong to the same fraternity and cause and that is we are BUFFALO BILLS' FANS to the bitter end! -

You sure did! Thanks, that's EXACTLY the kind of insight I was looking for when I started this post. You may have created alot of relief for some good, hard working, loyal fans who this team means the world to them. Keep up the good work TKOSpiked. -
Just my opinion and based on nothing factual but I would think that the Raiders might make a push to move up and grab Lienart at the #2 pick. He' is a California boy and would be great at the gate. The Saints then still could get Mario and if not Ferguson. Could be Preston, Hawk or Huff be a more realistic pick for us?

LOL! These were GREAT responses. Some of you are hilarious. I think it's safe to say that the majority of us are HUGE Bills' fans and that all we want is a competitive product on the field week in, week out and at the end of the season, to be left with some hope, pride and a sense of accomplishment. I don't think that's too much to ask for, I think we deserve it. As far as constructive critizism, opinions and disagreements go that's what also makes this an interesting place to visit. The moves, or in some cases the lack of, I think the speculation can be sometimes too pessimistic. If somebody like TKOSpiked could be kind enough to share some helpful insights, like what coaches see on game film versus what national tv broadcasts, I think that that could do alot of us some good. By the way, congratulations and the best of fortune for you in your education and future endeavors. PS. Chalkie Gerzowski and apuszczalowski, how in the world did Ralph missed putting you two on the coaching staff and as a administrator is beyond me! He MUST be a senile old man. Your two responses were hysterical! Thanks. I have one last question (plea!) for /dev/null. Can you ask your cousin at the airport just what the hell is wrong with this team?!!! Thanks again. Peace. -
