KFFL confirms Bill shopping Losman
Tipster19 replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, I think that it's very possible that the Bills "leaked" that they may be shopping Losman. That sure makes that #8 pick a little more valuable now doesn't it? That's just like the Titans' owner Bud Adams saying the same crap. Another spin on making this annouced move could also turn the heat up on the earlier teams in the draft to either select a QB themselves, Tennessee, Jets and Raiders, or trade their pick to another team who is in need of a QB. This is a deluted attempt to get a player to slip to us, players like Ferguson or Williams. -

Oh my gosh, let me offer my apologies to the board members for being SO inaccurate! I'm working 16-17 hour days and a wife that has many serious medical issues. It makes for a LONG day. No excuse, just an explanation. My time is very limited and when I get home and see team(s) who REALLY want and need Moulds it really riles me up. My enthusiasm exceeded my brain and typing skills. Did I mention that I hunt and peck on the keyboard? But I do love my Bills and it's worth it! I miscalculated the rds with the selection numbers and for this I apologize for. I don't believe that Moulds is worth a 2nd rder but I do believe that he is worth an earlier to mid 3rd rder. I'm starting to get sick and tired of these Eagles and their low-balling ways. I see Houston starting up too. Although I was mistaken with Minnesota and their draft rds and selections I do still stand by that they make a GREAT trade partner for Moulds (especially) and/or in trading down in this year's draft. Moulds could even be involved in BOTH scenarios. I don't mean to make this longwinded but I did want to explain my TRUE position. Thanks for listening. PS- Brandon and The Real, thanks guys for your patience, kindness and understanding, it's greatly appreciated. Thank goodness that you two realized that I errored in my post but understood the basis of it. -
Wow, great post! That's pretty interesting about Marv and Leinart thing. Could this be Levy's kind of character guy? If Marv is unhappy with Losman and/or that impressed with Leinart, the Saints are primed to trade down. That would really blow this board apart.

Great concept but only if we swap 2nds. That's a difference of 100 points on the value chart which equates like the 4th pick in the 4th rd. We're getting closer. -

Oops! I made a mistake in the original title. It's two 2nd rders not 3rders. I have to amend Moulds' value. Maybe toss them back a late rder. In any event, there's still a deal there if they lose Burleson. -

Who is Houston trying to BS? They are trying to act hardnosed and say that they'll give a 5th rder just because they don't want anyone to be thinking about their 3rd rder. When it's all over and done with they'll reluctantly give up their 2nd pick in the 4th. I say screw 'em. Moulds is at least worth a mid 3rd rder, MINIMUM! If we can't get this then keep him, he's worth it. Don't let these jerks or the Eagles start their low balling ways. Now the Texans' GM Casserly says no more progress will be made towards this trade until Monday, April 3rd. That's too much time, don't be surprised if another team comes out of the woodwork in the meantime. If Minnesota doesn't match the offer by 11:00 pm tomorrow, then Burleson becomes a Seahawk. The Vikes have two 2nd rd. picks, #48 and #51. I would love the Bills and Vikes to strike a deal on Saturday, April Fools' Day. Now wouldn't that be sweet?! It would be TOO funny if the Texans lost out on Moulds after they couldn't close the deal with Givens. -
Could Minnesota be set to trade up for a QB? Hopefully Young slips to us. According to their coach they look to be prepared to select a QB. Kevin Seifert, of the Star-Tribune, reports whichever rookie quarterback Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress picks in the 2006 NFL Draft, he will not likely play before the 2007 season. Childress said, "I would say you wouldn't want that [newcomer] on the field the first year. Maybe he would play in the preseason. You would have to say this: If we got that guy and he has to play in the first year, then things [have gone wrong]. That means some guys have gone down in a hurry." Here's what I would like to see. #1 Houston- Reggie Bush #2 Raiders- They trade up and nab Matt Leinart. California boy, need, and Brooks is a bum. #3 Titans- Mario Williams. They love defense and DEs, best player on the board. #4 Jets- Good bye Fabini, hello Ferguson. #5 Green Bay- Michael Huff. Forget Hawk, they need help in the secondary. #6 San Fran- Vernon Davis. The O-Line is rapidly improving and spent alot of money for a QB last year. Time to utilize him. #7 New Orleans- Haloti Ngata. Who dat got, Willie Whitehead?!!! C'mon, they got a need here. #8 BLAMMO! Vince Young. Buffalo trades with Minnesota for their 1st rd (#17), 2nd rd (#48), 4th rd (#115) and next year's 3rd rder. #9 Detroit- A.J. Hawk. Best player on the board and I don't think that they draft a WR this time. #10 Arizona- Jay Cutler. They can't believe that he slipped to them and he would be the heir to Warner. With the #17 pick I'd like to see Buffalo select one of the following. OT Winston Justice, OLB Chad Greenway or S Darnell Bing.

There is NO WAY Losman gets dumped. The QBs that we have now are the QBs that we are going to go with. Even if Losman was to be terrible in camp then all that would happen would be Nall and Holcomb ( I believe that Nall would start) battling for the starter position while the other backs him. Losman is then delegated to being the 3rd stringer until he could get his head out of his @$$. If by the end of the year Losman hasn't made significate strides THEN he may be disposed of. Expect a trade down with our first pick this year unless by some miracle Ferguson were to slip to us. I'd be mildly surprised if we were to take Huff, Hawk or Davis with this pick but, then again, you never know.

This has to hurt both Modrak and Guy's credibility
Tipster19 replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right you are buftex. I like reading your comments, you're a good poster. I think that the more time that goes by and I see the strategies develope with Marv and Jauron, the more I like it. We just might actually have a pretty good and STABLE tandem going on here. As in Losman, I'm willing to give Jauron ALOT more time before I form an opinion on his abilities. -
I too like Huff very much here but he's a close 2nd to Hawk. I'd be happy with either choice, they both make sense.
-
You may have to look at the RFAs to be able to find anyone of substance. There is KC's T Jordan Black. He's tendered at a 5th rd pick. Of course they can match an offer for him but here is some food for thought. Trade them Moulds and our 4th rd pick (#105) for Black and their 3rd rd pick (#85). That's a difference of 81 points on the value chart. It equates right in between #106 (82 pts) and #107 (80 pts) selection in the 4th rd. They fill a big time need at the WR position and move themselves out of the 3rd rd and into the 4th, where they don't have a selection. We, on the other hand, get a good, young talent that helps strengthen a weakness, move into another first day selection in the draft and end this Moulds debaticle and reduce our salary cap hit.
-
I named players who were of interest, need and of desire. I was eliminating all the candidates that met this criteria. This left just a few players left at the #8 slot. Did I really have to re-explain this?
-
If we stay at the #8 pick then I think that A.J. would give us the best value. Even with Spikes healthy Hawk could still be in the mix. Posey isn't a spring chicken and if Spikes doesn't make a complete recovery then he would fill in quite nicely.
-
...then we will not be in the position to draft Williams and Ferguson. Ngata doesn't fit our system and apparently we don't need A.J. Hawk. I'm just wondering, who has proof that Spikes will make a complete recovery? IF we stay at #8 then the players who could fill a need/desire and constitute the pick would be Huff and Preston. The holes that we have and the thriftiness of the Ralph and Marv show, it would make more sense to trade down and accumalate more picks. We could find value at the DB and TE position later in the first rd and in the second if we so wish. What would really help our cause would be if Young were to slip to the #8 slot or Ngata. These two players could really up the ante for us with some other teams. Arizona and Minnesota could stand to groom Young and Baltimore and Philly should be interested in Ngata. Of course I only listed a couple of obvious teams for each of these players but one could probably state a case for a few other teams for these players also. The #8 pick is a good one but unfortunately not good enough for the player (Ferguson) we need. I'd rather see us cash in this slot than just to use it on a player that doesn't fill a huge need. Does all this seem accurate? If so, would this be our most effective game plan not only for the draft but to rebuild this team?
-
KC could be the right trade partner for us with Moulds. They're pretty weak at WR and with a O-Line that's aging, one would think that they'll need to make it a little easier for Larry Johnson. Herm is well aware of Moulds and GM hasn't been afraid to use draft picks to improve his team and coaching staff. Here's my proposal. Trade Moulds and our second 3rd rd pick (#73) 225 points for KC's 2nd rd pick (#54) 360 points. On the value chart that's a difference of 135 points which equates to a later 3rd rd pick, approximately #91. Actually the 91st pick is 136 points, which is close enough. With these picks select the following. 1st rd #8 Ohio St. LB A.J. Hawk 6'1" | 248 | 40 time: 4.59 Strengths: Incredibly instinctive with top football intelligence...Always around the ball...Makes plays sideline-to-sideline and has good range...Has more than enough speed and closes fast...Is a sure tackler...Very solid in coverage against backs and TEs...Does an excellent job of shedding blockers and working his way through traffic...Extremely productive...Team leader and captain...Works as hard as anyone...Intense, competitive and tough player with off the chart intangibles. Weaknesses: Might not be quite as athletic as his computer numbers would lead you to believe...Is on the short side...Does not change direction real well...Has some trouble taking on massive blockers, especially in the run game...Can improve as a blitzer...Missed a good portion of his senior year of high school due to injury. Notes: Simply the best defensive player in college football as a senior...May have been first linebacker selected in the 2005 NFL Draft had he come out early...Has the makings of an impact playmaking linebacker at the pro level...Top prospect. *I don't believe that Ngata will be available when we pick and if A.J. is gone than TE Vernon Davis would be the pick. 2nd rd #42 Southern Cal S Darnell Bing 6'2" | 227 | 40 time: 4.59 Strengths: Has excellent size...An explosive natural athlete...Has outstanding instincts...Does a great job of supporting the run...Tough, strong and physical...Can really lay the lumber...A playmaker who has a knack for being around the ball and making the big play...Productive and experienced having started three years for the Trojans. Weaknesses: Does not have great timed speed...Is not very natural in coverage...Goes for the big hit rather than the secure tackle too often...Can be too aggressive and will overpursue at times...Durability is a concern as he has a history of minor injuries. Notes: Was a part of the famed 2002 Long Beach Poly high school class that also included Winston Justice (USC), Marcedes Lewis (U.C.L.A.), Hershel Dennis (USC) and Manuel Wright (Miami Dolphins)...Did not qualify to play out of high school and spent 2002 at Long Beach (California) City College...When all is said and done this guy is the type who always seems to come through with the game changing play. 2nd rd #54 (from KC) Texas OT Jonathan Scott 6'6 3/8" | 316 | 40 time: 5.31 Strengths: Has excellent size with long arms and the frame to add even more weight...Lithe and very athletic with good quickness...Has tremendous feet...Moves extremely well and gets to the second level...Smart player with top intangibles...Has a lot of experience and has been very durable...Helped pave the way for one of the most productive offenses in the nation throughout his career...Still has a lot of upside. Weaknesses: Suffers from bouts of inconsistency...An underachiever who doesn't always play up to his talent level...Needs to work on a refining his technique as he will overextend and get sloppy with his footwork at times...Needs to hit the weights and get stronger...Not very physical...Doesn't always finish & may not be nasty. Notes: Father Ray enjoyed a short stint with the New York Jets...In terms of measurables and physical tools this guy is the total package and the majority of his faults are correctable...Has the potential and ability to be a top left tackle in the NFL. 3rd rd #70 Northwestern DT Barry Cofield 6'4" | 304 | 40 time: 4.94 Strengths: Has good size and a big frame...Athletic with good speed and quickness...Very strong and powerful...Plays with good leverage and gets a push...Does a superb job of locating the ball...Stout at the point and defends the run very well...Smart with good intangibles...Has a lot of experience and proved to be very durable. Weaknesses: Is not a great pass rusher or sack artist...Tends to wear down and needs to increase his stamina...Lacks a nasty demeanor on the field and can be more aggressive...Never focused on one position...Might be a DE / DT 'tweener. Notes: Played defensive tackle as a freshman and senior and then Defensive end in between...Could play in the middle of a 4-3 or even shift outside to defensive end in a 3-4 scheme...The type who does everything well but nothing great...Definitely has some intriguing physical tools and the success Luis Castillo had should help. Well, there you have it. I'll never do this again, way too much typing for me but I hope that you enjoy it.

Packers and Boerigter agree to contract.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Either that or they are going to keep Walker and make him eat the contract that he signed. Maybe we should think along these lines with Moulds until we find the right trade. The first one who blinks usually caves in first. Moulds and Co. are scrambling pretty hard to find a way out of Buffalo. I think Marv is doing a find job. -
I doubt it. C'mon Houston! The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Packers agreed to terms Sunday on a one-year deal with free-agent WR Marc Boerigter, giving them another big target for the pure West Coast style of offense new HC Mike McCarthy intends to play. Boerigter's agent, Craig Domann said his client would sign the contract today.

Moulds is not going to be replaced for another big
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For a position of need you could be right PTR, but rest assure that it won't be for another WR. -
I think that if this were an acurrate report coming out of Green Bay, then it just took a turn for the worse. Apparently Green Bay just agreed to terms with WR Marc Boerigter. I don't think that this favors the Moulds situation. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.
-
The benefits of eliminating Moulds and his contract is to rid the team of several negatives. Why would they replace Moulds and his contract with another unhappy player who will command another big dollar contract? This team has too many needs and holes to fill. IF another player is involved with the trade of Moulds, then you can rest assure that it will be another role/depth player. Why jump right back into the fire so to speak. Another aspect is to replace a malcontent with someone who will fit into our future philosophy. Don't overlook that Marv is striving for chemistry. The compensation for Moulds, whether it's a player or draft pick(s) will be for a team concept or team oriented. The good news is that there is ALOT of buzz going on for Moulds services right now. Buffalo and Moulds will have a satisfactory resolution. We will get what we want and so will he.

Atlanta Falcons general manager Rich McKay, co-chairman of the league's competition committee, said Wednesday there is a proposal to allow defensive players to wear radio helmets, similar to the coach-to-quarterback helmets used by offenses. The proposal likely will come to a vote sometime about the middle of the week, and there seems to be strong support for the move. McKay said the proposal started because of concerns about teams stealing hand signals. If the proposal is approved, a defensive coach would be able to talk to one defensive player through the radio. Teams would have to designate before each game which player would wear the radio helmet. He would be the only one who can wear the helmet. If the designated player is injured, his team would have to go back to using hand signals. Who would you want to wear the helmet? I would think Fletcher would be logical.
-
I have to agree with you buftex. Moulds needs to be resolved by draft day, not a day later.

Here's a quote that shows that EM has GREAT value.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that it's apparent that Moulds does have value, it's just a matter of how much. He won't be just a salary cap casualty and this we should all rejoice in. The compensation that we will recieve for him WILL improve our team. When you hear purported rumors involving the likes of a Javon Walker this early on then there should be a level of value. There is still plenty of time to work out a trade that will benefit us. Look how long it dragged out with Travis Henry. Donahoe stuck to his guns and got a fair market value for him. Marv, and us, needs to keep the same mentality. -
It was great watching him when he was performing. It does seem that the better WRs are tempermental and selfish. I can't really think of one in recent memory that just appear to be a congenial, team oriented type player. Maybe Donald Driver. Production. That's first and foremost what people want to see and hear about. It's difficult to comment on somebody's personal life. It is disheartening when in this day and age people get mega compensation because of physical ability and talent. Society does help to contribute and look the other way to players' images. It's a caste system. It always has been, always will be. Not much difference since the gladiators. People pay and people cheer for performance. When the performance stops, so does the paying and the cheering.
