  1. I beg to differ but you get the point. I don't care who we get with this pick but only if they want to play here. No more cancers please.
  2. Valid point but who is to say that if we recieved nothing for him that we were still going to release him. EVERYTHING is relative.
  3. Who knows how Marv is going to parlay this pick that we got for Moulds. People were worrying that we had to release him and get nothing. If Levy (what a great name) can transfer this pick to address a need AND eliminate a distraction, then we are HUGE winners. We got to have CHEMISTRY and if Moulds and anyone else doesn't want to be here then they need to go.
  4. I'm not thrilled that we apparently only got a second day pick but it's good that we resolved another issue. For all the people who speculated that Moulds was just going to be released, what happen? When Donahoe was running things there would always be resentment and animosity. Once again, I like the way Marv is handling these types of situations. Classy and quietly. I wasn't even in favor of hiring Marv at first but I'm sure am now. I think that we will have a team that we will be proud to be associated with. Character, people keep on underestimating it but it is one of the intangibles that help create special moments and accomplishments. I think Marv & Co. is ALL about character.
  5. Hindsight is always accurate but I was looking more for a semester grade. I wanted to see if our GPA is lacking or improving. Thanks.
  6. How about Jerome Bettis, he was a nice blend of character on and off the field. When I think what I want for players on my team and what kind of team I want, I think of "Remember The Titans". Character is lifelong, ability is temporary.
  7. Do consider the situation that he inherited and the team chemistry, it was volatile. He did bring a nice calming, quiet hand with him so far. That's where the + came in.
  8. At this time of year everyone is getting measured, weighed, timed and inspected. Some have improved their stock while others start to slide. With the grademark of C being the barometer of just average, what grade does Marv get at this point? Feel free to give multiple grades for different areas. I'm just going to give him an overall grade of B+. I like what he's been doing so far and I really look forward to how he's going to handle the draft. I think he handled the releases of some of our veteran players and the Moulds situation were handled in a very professional and dignified way. I do look forward to our future, I think we'll be OK.
  9. Reguardless of the round, would you rather have a straight out draft pick for Moulds or would moving up in a few rounds be of better value? Here's a proposal that would be fair and still have a great value. Houston /Buffalo /Value Chart 2nd rd-#33 /2nd rd-#42 /+ 100 pt. 3rd rd-#65 /3rd rd-#73 /+ 40 pt. 4th rd-#98 /4th rd-#105 /+ 24 pt. That's a difference of a 164 pts. which equates to about the 85th pick in the 3rd rd. Would this be a better value for Moulds to have us pick earlier in three different rounds?
  10. I do like that Houston is acting like they may be interested in Vince Young. It shows that they aren't only interested in Bush. This might be the nudge to get Tennessee going. I expect that all of a "sudden" Houston starts more and more bluffs with other players and teams. These next few weeks are going to be great!
  11. Mark Berman, of KRIV-TV, says Moulds arrived in Houston Monday, April 3, in anticipation of the Bills trading him to the Texans. Berman expects a deal to happen during the next 24 hours. I just want to know what the compensation is going to be. I'm hoping that it's one of Houston's 3rd rders and not their 4th rder. Truth be told, I really think Mould's value is around a mid 3rd rder, nothing more nothing less. We may be able to pull off one of Houston's 3rd rders only because they really want him and that they have 2 to start off the round. If that were to happen then we made out like bandits.
  12. There are two teams that will pick ahead of the Titans as it stands now. Can they really afford to take a chance on NOT selecting Leinart? The more that I think about it, the more I think that Houston and Tennessee may work out a trade of their draft picks. Even if the Titans are satisfied with Volek, they can't afford to pay McNair what he is owed. With Chow on the payroll and a great opportunity at a franchise QB, the Titans should eliminate ANY outside interference by securing the #1 pick. How much does Houston want Bush, that's the real key to this draft.
  13. Per KFFL. Updating previous reports, ESPN.com reports Tennessee Titans QB Steve McNair was told by a team trainer that he would not be allowed to work out until his contract status was resolved, according to his agent James Cook. Cook said there was no warning to the team's position and added, "Steve was told that until he got his contract straightened out, he wasn't welcome at the facility. Heck, he's got his contract already straightened out and now he's trying to fulfill it by reporting for the offseason." Titans sources said Titans owner Bud Adams made the decision out of fear any offseason injury would make him liable for McNair's current contract. Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said, "Things got blown out of proportion. ... We'll get it straightened out." McNair's cap hit is huge this year and he says he wants the money. I don't see McNair being on the Titans' roster come the start of the season. How is this going to affect the draft. Your guess is as good as mine. Stay tuned to this soap opera, it's a doozy!
  14. Is Lienart a "character" type player? I think so and could be a guy that the old Marv & Jauron Show would really consider making a move for. This won't happen but would Moulds, Losman, our #8 and the #70 (Titans' 3rd rder that they traded to us) be fair compensation to put us in position to draft Leinart with the #3 pick overall with the Titans? The salary cost would actually favor us. The cap savings with Moulds would more than offset the cap loss of Losman and not having to pay a early 3rd rder would be even more of a savings that we could use towards signing such a high profile prospect. Of course this whole scenario is complete BS but I do just like to make myself think. Here's how the recap would look. We move up 5 picks to be in position to draft a high profile prospect, we eliminate a malcontent at a great cap savings, take a good size hit on a QB prospect whose abilities are still yet to be determined and wasn't drafted by the organization's current administration, return a early 3rd rd draft pick to the original team, and last but not least, regain the direction of a team/organization that has seemed to have lost it's way. There chew on that for awhile and blast me later.
  15. ...I sure would try and create interest in the #1 pick. The Titans would be a perfect trade partner for them but as of now, why should Tennessee trade with them? Everyone is assuming that Houston is taking Bush and the Saints select either Super Mario or Ferguson or trade down. This would allow Leinart to fall right into the lap of Norman Chow and the Titans. Houston should fuel the fire a little then maybe they could be the recipient of the same type of scenario but only with it being Bush. Who says that they really want Bush? They do have a very adequate RB in Dominick Davis. Even if the Texans did trade with the Titans and weren't able to get Bush they still have alot of other needs. The #3 pick would still net them a very big bluechipper, have to pay less money for a #3 pick vs a #1, and have more picks from the trade down to use for other areas of need. With New Orleans being the only team that wouldn't have to compensate more to trade up, the cost for the other 29 teams just gets more and more expensive the further that they are away from the #1 pick. Example; If the Raiders were to want Leinart, how much more would they have to compensate the Texans than Tennessee? It would be considerably more and thus might be too costly. The best thing that Houston could do is to get the Jets on the phone and gauge their interest, and if they are, then let it "leak" out. The Raiders, Vikings, and Denver also could have interest and the capability to make a decent trade partner. With Denver and Minnesota, Houston would have to cut them a deal. Both teams have 2 first round picks. This would be the bulk or strength of the trade. If Tennessee were to start believing that Houston would seriously consider the multiple 1st rders plus other compensation, like veteran player(s) and/or other draft picks in this year's draft and next year's, then this should get Tennessee motivated. Unless Houston really wants Bush, I think I really like Tennessee's positioning in this draft. It might be in the Texans best interest to not to make it so comfortable for the Titans.
  16. Is this ALL you have to say? I hope that you are only having a bad day and that your input makes you feel better, that way something good came out of your response.
  17. In all fairness the website, which I'll provide, is critical of just about every player. I cross reference and watch each player that appears like a valid candidate for us to draft. It's too bad that the responses only focused on the weaknesses of the above player and nothing mentioned of his strengthes and notes. Anyways, here's the website. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/
  18. I predicted him in the 2nd rd but I don't think that he will last, he seems to be moving up rapidly, some mock drafts have Dallas taking him with their 18th pick overall. I hope that you enjoy. Texas OT Jonathan Scott 6'6 3/8" | 316 | 40 time: 5.31 Strengths: Has excellent size with long arms and the frame to add even more weight...Lithe and very athletic with good quickness...Has tremendous feet...Moves extremely well and gets to the second level...Smart player with top intangibles...Has a lot of experience and has been very durable...Helped pave the way for one of the most productive offenses in the nation throughout his career...Still has a lot of upside. Weaknesses: Suffers from bouts of inconsistency...An underachiever who doesn't always play up to his talent level...Needs to work on a refining his technique as he will overextend and get sloppy with his footwork at times...Needs to hit the weights and get stronger...Not very physical...Doesn't always finish & may not be nasty. Notes: Father Ray enjoyed a short stint with the New York Jets...In terms of measurables and physical tools this guy is the total package and the majority of his faults are correctable...Has the potential and ability to be a top left tackle in the NFL.
  19. Forget about Clements being involved in any trade to move up in the draft. IF we were to trade Clements it would be for a 1st rd pick ONlY. More realistically would be to stay OR move back in the 1st rd. I, personally, would like and believe that we trade down and accumalate more picks. Looking at what is about to transpire, with Moulds being traded for Houston's 4th rd pick (#98), we would have MONSTER picks. Here's how it would look. 1st rd-#8 2nd rd-#42 3rd rd-#70 and #73 4th rd-#98 and #105 This is without trading Clements or trading down in the 1st rd. I don't think, nor want, us to trade Clements. Eliminating Moulds from our salary cap, I would like to see us sign Clements to a long term contract. This last week, especially, teams have been re-signing their own FAs a priority instead of overpaying the FAs. We need to do the same and I think we will. I do want us to trade down in the 1st rd, hopefully with Minnesota. If we were to trade in the vicinity of Minnesota's pick, then I would like us to select either OT Jonathan Scott or LB Chad Greenway. With our 2nd rd pick I would like to see us select S Darnell Bing. Either 3rd rder should and could fetch us DT Barry Cofield. Cleveland WILL take him in the 3rd rd, he's a local boy, and there is quite a buzz about him in the state of Ohio. Why comprise this many draft picks when we have SO many needs? I don't know Losman's cap hits after this year but they have to be better than this year's. We have adequate QBs on the roster and many prime draft picks at our disposal. No one EXPECTS too much success this year with our current roster, but if we have to take more of our lumps, let us incorporate younger blood.
  20. Dan, I'm not sure who you are advocating for with the #8 pick. Ferguson? If he were to slip to us then I would agree 100% but that's wishful thinking. While it's best that you don't draft for need I think that you can throw that out the window when you have so high of a pick. Playmakers and playmakers with speed are ALWAYS a welcomed addition. Who knows what Marv is really going to do with this pick. All I'm saying is if we stay with our pick and the top prospects are drafted like they have been projected, then I wouldn't be upset if we took Huff.
  21. With Clements still not being completely resolved, Vincent being ancient and having chopped our starting SS and leaving a gaping hole there, I don't see why Huff wouldn't be our guy. His speed would give us great versatility. If you notice on the link entire NFL Community, as of lately, the DBs are being drafted early. What does that indicate? Latest trend? Here's an interesting article I read today and also ran into a quote from Marv. http://greenbaypressgazette.packersnews.co..._25411480.shtml A little Marvism. Bills coach Marv Levy on making long-term decisions that are best for the organization: "When you say you're building for the future, you're building for the future coach and general manager."
  22. Age to our LBers and potential health issue to Spikes. The big names that I'm referring to are Bush, Leinart, Williams and Ferguson. These names will be gone by the time we select. Young, Cutler and Davis are not are as big of a need for us like a S and maybe a LB would be.
  23. Based on us having the #8 pick overall in this year's draft, expect us to draft S Michael Huff. He fills one of our biggest needs and constitutes the value. A.J. Hawk is a very close second. The administration that we have now is not the flambouyant administration that we have had the past several years. Marv and Jauron will be looking to not only fulfill obvious and immediate needs but also to display their competency and abilities on establishing a solid framework for building a team. Some of the big names that we desire will be gone by the time we pick and the other ones we don't neccesary need as much as other positions of weakness. If this scenario holds true then expect us to draft a OT in the 2nd rd. The DT that we select will be in the 3rd rd. Outside of Huff, these other two positions/needs are great values. Although the OT and DT that we selected in these rounds would not be the top player at their positions they still would be, at least, in the top 5 of their positions. That would serve a greater value to a team that has numerous holes and weaknesses to fill. Our second 3rd rder just may very well be invested in the O-Line again, possibly guard. The 4th rd is where we would be looking to solidify other areas of the team. Would anybody be unhappy or in disagreement if the Bills were to execute a draft like this or would this be a good approach to rebuilding our team?
  24. One last note. There's one other team that wouldn't surprise me to enter the Moulds sweepstakes and that would be KC. Herm is more than familiar with Moulds and the wide reciever coach is Charlie Joiner. Although Moulds is getting up there in age, as in the rest of the KC team, he's a really good downfield blocker. This would most certainly help RB Larry Johnson and the run game. I don't think kennison, Morton or any of the other past or current KC WRs were much of a blocker. They also just lost WR Marc Boerigter. Moulds enjoyed alot of success under Joiner when he was the Bills' WR coach. KC has the 85th pick (3rd rder) in the draft. What could be even more effective would be just to trade him straight up for T Jordan Black. He backs up both T positions behind Willie Roaf and John Welborn. Black is a RFA who is tendered at a 5th rd pick but I wouldn't limit a player's ability with a label. He has NFL experience and went to Notre Dame, maybe he could be a McNally type guy. The only drawback with a draft pick is you never know how long it will take for them to get acclimated with the NFL and it's gamespeed. Here's a link on Joiner. You tell me if he could be an advocate for Moulds. http://www.kcchiefs.com/coach/charlie_joiner/
  25. Per KFFL Packers | Teams calling about the No. 5 draft pick Fri, 31 Mar 2006 18:03:50 -0800 Tom Silverstein, writing for the Sporting News, reports Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson has fielded inquiries from teams who are interested in obtaining the club's No. 5 draft pick and will probably consider options for moving back. He doesn't want to move too far and fall out of reach of the elite players, but he could drop two or three spots and still have a shot at Maryland TE Vernon Davis, a potential candidate for the Packers. The part about dropping back 2 or 3 spots has me interested.
