You're absolutely right Ed_Roch. If you read my response to this post then you'll see that it's accurate in value for us.

Bills To Bring In Another WR?

The Jokeman, that's a very astute observation. I'm not so sure about Rogers, due to being injury prone and questionable character but Johnson could be a great addition. Nice scouting. -

Great SDS. It makes you really scratch your head when you think how Donahoe spent high draft picks for skilled positions but couldn't nor wouldn't solve the O-Line. -

Well fellas, I stated my points and I don't think that we can fill all our needs in this draft, nor should we. I truly believe that people are mistaken if they believe that this team is completely in the gutter. With the right management and some key additions, I think that we can be a mild threat to some decent teams this year. Don't expect much more than this. We can add some big pieces this year and then finish the product next year with early, high valued draft picks. It's just some food for thought. PS- I'm editing and adding one more thought to this response. I think that we should try and bump up our second 5th, 6th, and the two 7th rd picks for next year's draft. Example; trade our second 5th rd pick for a possible round, round and a half earlier for next year. This would make it a late 3rd or to a early 4th rd pick. The 6th and two 7th rders to a round earlier in next year's draft. These picks are late ones, and at this point, they are more of a crapshoot. So in addition to our standard picks we would then be adding another possible 3rd to 4th rder, another 5th and hopefully two more 6ths. This is when you package picks to move up in a draft. That second 5th and one of the extra 6ths might be able to move us into a late 3rd/early 4th rd pick in next year's draft. -
No, I would rather have a later 1st rd pick AND a 2nd rd pick in THIS year's draft. Under this scenario a mid to late rd pick in next year's draft would have to be added at the very least. The future draft pick value would have to be based on how early or late of a 1st rder we traded down to.

I have POURED over the past drafts of the Eagles and Patriots. It's hard to argue with success. The early rd (the 1sts, 2nds and3rds) are the value picks. I don't want quanity, I want quality. -

I thought when I mentioned mid round picks that the value wasn't as great of a loss. You have to give to get. -

How many of you expect us to have a great year? How many of you hope that we have a good year? How many of you would be grateful if we just had a so-so year? I don't even have the nerve to ask how many of you think we will be garbage this year. The point is this, if we were to trade down in the 1st rd we would accumalate more 1st day picks. We already have a decent amount of draft picks and, in addition, they have great value. Based on our current status, not much should be accomblished this year. Say what you like about Saban and the Dolphins but I knew that he wasn't going to go crazy and clean out the whole house. He made some moves and then made evaluations on his players that were left. He then made some key additions and sold his remaining players on a plan. This was a good way to determine what the true needs were. Sound familiar so far? We purged the senior veterans who were nearing the end of their careers and/or who weren't cost efficient. We added some good solid players and still have good picks in the draft to compliment them. Give this administration and team the time to see where they truly stand. Now the following year you go about addressing your issues with higher valued draft picks. To make intelligent decisions it should be based on knowledge, not panic or fear. Now that we have even more picks for the upcoming draft, we can fill our obvious needs with our 1st(s), 2nd(s) and our 3rd rd picks. These are quality picks and are less of a gamble or risk. I suggest that we take some of our mid rd picks and parlay them into better future picks for our organization. This is the time to do it. It's best to deal from a position of strength and this is one of our strengths, if not the only one. This is what made the Eagles and Patriots so successful. They just didn't think for today but planned on future drafts. We can blow our whole wad all at once but for what? A decent to maybe a good season? That's if all these picks are productive. No, I'd rather give up one of our 5th rd picks for a future 3rd or 4th rder and so on and so on. Do you get the picture? With the shedule that we have, we are going to have SOME kind of short term success this season but I'm talking about LONG TERM success. Who knows, a successful long term plan may even help this organization stabilize itself financially enough to where it doesn't even have to worry about relocating. -
Divorces are usually messy and this is turning out to be no different. I'm a big Moulds fan and I'm disappointed that he's gone, but make no mistake about it, it was time for him to go. I wish him success and when he's career is over we will all kiss and make-up. He will retire as a Buffalo Bill. I do wish that there could have been better feelings on his departure from BOTH sides. He gave us great memories as in we did for him. It may be too early for this game but I am curious about the sentiment when we play against Houston this year. For both parties I hope that it is amicable.

Bills Sign 4 " Street " Free Agents....
Tipster19 replied to SouthTownBills51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that there may be some good substance to this Gibson signing. I believe that this could very well be another testiment to a player wanting to play for his former coach. Obviously Jauron likes Gibson and believes that he can still play and Gibson respects Jauron. I believe that with the class of Marv and Jauron there will be some feel good stories this year with some players AND this team. -
The draft compensation, I believe, is still undetermined but we did get cap savings with this trade. The money should be used on our own young quality veteran CB Nate Clements. This would most definitely help take the sting out of losing one of our long term players. Teams have been re-signing there own players instead of overpaying for some FA. This is a practice that we need to employ. Our team is getting younger and we still have some young seasoned players at the same time. The complexion of this team is looking good, let's keep it going.

I'm still having reservations on what we recieved from Houston as far as compensation goes. Here is a couple of links who are still sketchy if you ask me. http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/HOU/9358042 http://www.pfcritics.com/news101/EricMould...dedtoTexans.php Here are some quotes that peak my interest. Moulds, who had the Bills' permission to seek a trade, agreed to a four-year contract. It's not clear what the Texans traded to Buffalo, but it's believed to be a fourth- or fifth-round pick in this month's draft. The Texans declined to confirm the deal. The Buffalo Bills traded wide receiver Eric Moulds to the Houston Texans in exchange for draft picks. -
This is Donahoe and Mularkey's fault!
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey Simon, nice to have a response from you. No mob. Most of my posts are positive but this time I got pissed. Truth be told, there's facts BOTH ways. If anybody wants to debate the effectiveness of Donahoe, then at least make better points than the decision to keep Moulds over a wannabe rap star or what a great selection Evans was. Ya think that the Evans selection was alittle bit of a no brainer? I will say that the Peerless Price to MaGahee was a masterful stroke. Bottomline is this. Donahoe was quite bold in his decisions. Some were incredibly thrilling and others were miserably maddening. You win some and you lose some. The contract that was in placed for Moulds this year is from none other than Mr. Tom Donahoe. The way that it's structured ($$$) makes no sense for NO GM. I don't care if you're Lee Iaccocca. No, Donahoe had no intention of re-signing Moulds, he was going to give him the boot and THAT'S what pisses me off. Now Simon, call off your mob. -
I don't want to burst anybody's bubble but I surfed Houston's messageboard and some of these idiots are saying that one of their local newsman on channel 13 is reporting that it's a 6th rd pick that they traded for Moulds. I definitely don't believe that and there are conflicting reports as well on their messageboard as in what they traded. Furthermore, they can't trade Bradford, he's a Detroit Lion.

Could there somehow be a three way trade or something to that effect with Houston, Buffalo and New Orleans? The ingredients could be Moulds, Losman and a slew of current/future draft picks? Speculation has had the Saints looking to trade down a bit and Houston would still lock up Bush if they wanted. If not the Saints, could another team be involved and that's why the compensation(s) haven't been revealed? We might still have a silver fox in the war room afterall. -

There is NO way that Moulds' value is ONLY a 5th rder, or even a 4th for that matter. I won't believe it until I see it in print. There is still plenty of time to upgrade this deal. Why take so little now? There has to be more to this deal. Even if we just upgraded one of our picks we could still get a better value than a 5th rder. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. -

Wouldn't that be a scream. Who is to say that there wasn't other factors or variables in this trade. Moulds advisor did say that it was a win-win-win situation for everybody. I don't doubt that the trade went down, just that there may be more specifics. Supposedly Marv wanted a 4th rder from jumpstreet and the Texans came out of the gate with a 5th rder. That was BEFORE the weekend. Now it's the beginning of the next week and it's a 5th rder? That doesn't make sense. This could have been handled just like that LAST week. I don't believe that Marv would just fold anyways. I mean look, Moulds is a great WR and a mainstay in Buffalo. Do you think that Marv asks for a 4th rder and the Texans said no and then Marv said OK we'll take the 5th rder. No, he worked them for something extra, that's why it took more time and possibly the secrecy. -
The Texans declined to confirm the report on the Moulds' trade. The Bills spokesman Scott Berchtold said, "There is nothing official to report." Why the secrecy? Could there be more to this trade than meets the eye? I can't recall any other trades that were so unknown. I'm starting to think that there is more than just a second day pick involved. Maybe there is some kind of contingency that has to be cleared with the league and/or with the draft order. I don't know, I just think that this is pretty weird. Has anybody ever remember a trade so hush-hushed?

Just like so many other players that he ran out of here. Signing him to a big, unrealistic contract, you know that he was banking on that idiot Mularkey and his bag of gadgets. Drafting Roscoe with our 2nd rd pick and all the while letting the O-Line go in the toilet. Then paying the premium for Losman and then playing musical QBs. I knew when Mularkey cried to get Moulds suspended that it was really going to burn Moulds' butt. I think that was probably the last straw. We should of suspended Mularkey. When you look back on it, this Donahoe ran out alot of our faithful players. Oh yea, all in the name of getting us out of "salary cap jail". He should go to jail for impersonating our best interests. I got sick when I read an article today on Rueben Brown and what a community leader he is. I think he was the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. Larry Centers, who doesn't say sh!% even with a mouthful, had nothing but bad feelings when he left here. That's even after he was with Arizona and that whole crappy organization and it's cheapskate owner Bidwell. Don't get me wrong, there's a time to replace players but it's how he did it that leaves a sour taste in the players' mouth. I haven't heard any mudslinging from Adams, Milloy, Campbell or Williams. That Donahoe even looks like a anemic gnome. Dan Rooney and Cowher thinks he's a joke. What's that tell ya? I guess it was time for Moulds to go but I wish it was a little more amicable. The guy took a heck of alot less to play elsewhere. He didn't even want to try and negoiate. Enough was enough. I don't envy Marv, he sure was handed a mess. Moulds never figured in Donahoe's plans for this year. The ironic part is that he never figured that he wouldn't be in Buffalo's plans. Poetic justice.

Yeah, word has it that Casserly gave Marv a fifth and he drank it. Then he traded him Moulds.

http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3693 Somehow this administration and their procedures sure seem different from the last administration. The image of this organization was in serious trouble. I do believe that this is one of many big steps in the right direction. Look at the dissension and turmoil that we endured last year. You don't think that Marv and his staff aren't having a big effect on this organization? I do believe that the ramifications are immeasurable and the best is yet to come. Here's another link on someone I wonder if Marv would have liked to have hanged onto. http://chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=14845

"I have 46 years of my life invested in this franchise and in Western New York. There are those who don't care about us, our passionate fans or our hard-working taxpayers. Well, I do! I am not going to sugar coat this and I am not going down without a fight. The people who have supported us for these 46 years deserve more than that." Is this the same guy that got flamed from some of our "fans"? Mr. Wilson's resolve is the faceplate of like so many of the blue collar, hardworking, LOYAL fans of this community. I'm proud to be a Buffalo Bill fan and to have our team owned by someone like Mr. Wilson.
