  1. In response to UnionAMG question, I moved out of the area quite awhile ago and I'm not sure if Buffalo does charge for any of their scrimmages. Maybe someone who is more aware of the local activities can answer this question. I still would be curious on who, if any, the Buffalo scouts are looking at to get released. Does anyone have any input or knowledge on this aspect of aquiring players?
  2. I should have read all the responses to BillsFanForever19 post before I posted this. There's a novel idea for a dollars for Donte campaign.
  3. It's the fans who always lands up paying anyways. At least we could get the benefit of having some of our best talent being in camp sooner rather than later.
  4. In reference to bluenews response. About not being able to name a offensive leader, I think that the staff is hoping or relying on someone like Price. This aspect might have as much to do with his signing than anything else. Apologies to Dawgg. I meant no disrespect or any undermining to your post in reguards to a QB choice. I believe Holcomb has to rely on other factors other than his ability to win a starting job whereas Losman will show that he can play this position. Now if Holcomb was the one to be hurt and not Nall, then I think that this thread would have taken a vastly different point of view.
  5. Here's a thought. Maybe Holcomb is trying to be buddy-buddy so he can solidify the starting position, while on the otherhand, Losman is confident in his abilities and doesn't feel like he has to campaigne to win a starting position. Hanging out with MaGaMee doesn't really impress me anyways. Hmmm, who would I rather have? An aging veteran who never really was a starting QB to speak of with a not-so-powerful arm? Or a exciting, young, mobile prospect (can I say veteran???) with a cannon for a arm? I might have to think about this one.
  6. I heard this today on Sirius radio and thought it was interesting to know. I wonder what players on Buffalo were scouted, if any were at all. Better yet, I wonder what players the Bills scouted. The analysts are reporting from the Steelers' camp and their opinions were that Pittsburgh is going to be cutting players that will be definitely be able to help other teams. They were actually referring to the Lions as a team that will be looking to upgrade their roster with other teams cuts. I think that we'll be able to expect another addition or two to our current team. Is their a DT that our braintrust is eyeing? I suspect that this is still a concern or need that still needs addressing.
  7. Eliis arrived in camp and had a brief chat with Tuna. The contents of the conversation were not revealed. Ellis is going to wait until today before saying anything further. This situation might be worth keeping an eye on it.
  8. It's looking like we might have an awesome secondary in the very near future. With fortified DEs and a good, solid LBing corp, it would help compensate the middle of our defense. If the new additions that we aquired at the DT position can be anywheres adequate, this could shape up to be a very dominate defense. Of course the better that our defense plays than the less pressure our offense will have. I would be all for adding a player of this caliber on our team. His veteran leadership would also be the perfect seasoning for our young, upcoming defensive linemen.
  9. I would like to mention a couple of points. First, Ellis in his first two years he started at LDE until he hurt his left leg and then in 2000 he started at RDE. In 2001 he went back to LDE for all 16 games. Secondly, everyone and everything has a value. Tuna would cough Ellis up for the right price. I'm not saying to overpay but I think that it wouldn't hurt to explore this avenue. Dallas in the last couple years has drafted ALOT of young defensive players. An aging, disgruntled player may be dispensible to them. Thirdly, there is plenty of creative ways to structure a player's contract, especially when a player is going to a more conducive scheme. He is stuck in a 3-4 scheme that DOESN'T play to his strength and would be going to a 4-3 that DOES play to his strength. I think that he might be a little receptive AND flexible in his demands. Of course, this is just my opinion and is based on nothing but speculation.
  10. Apparently he wants to play in a 4-3 defense so he can produce at a high level and Dallas plays a 3-4. The guy is a player and is also a great locker room leader with character. He sounds like a Marv type player who has even played all across the defensive line. Check out his bio on Dallas' website (NFL.com). This is the kind of player that I would love to see on Buffalo's roster. Here, I'll make it easy for you, just click on his name. http://www.dallascowboys.com/team_roster.cfm
  11. I think that I'm incorrect on the mother's family name scenario. Bottom line is that he did in deed change his last name. He is not going to change it on his jersey for the fact of name recognition.
  12. Apparently it's his grandfather's last name on his mother's side and there is nobody else to carry on the last name Baker.
  13. The more that time goes on the more I really like what Marv & Co. has done in the draft. This secondary and team are getting younger AND faster. We MIGHT have to take a lump or two this year but after that our defense and STs should be rocking! Wait a minute, our offense looks to be pretty youthful too. I like the way our future is starting to look. It feels good to have renewed hope and excitement again. Go Bills!
  14. It might be a nice change of pace of hearing a positive side of a football player. There has been way too much negative publicity on players getting arrested for DWIs, drug charges, spousal abuse and just flat out poor character and/or dumb decisions. I just recently saw on television a real heartwarming story on Kobe Bryant. He was genuinely bubbling over with joy and smiling from ear to ear as he was spending the whole day at the hospital with a 15 year old boy who suddenly was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I must admit, seeing him giving so sincerely really changed my opinion of him. It made me wonder how many times we just hear the negative and not the positive on people. It wasn't just this boy that he reached out and touched. He interacted with 70 or 80 different people who has one kind or another affliction. It would really be nice to hear some real heartwarming stories on these athletes who reached out and made an impact on someone's life who really needed some uplifting. Thanks.
  15. I think Marv has made it obvious the direction that this team will take. Do you agree with his philosophy or would you rather just have talent and individualism? Here's an article that might indicate the kind of player/teammate that the Bills are accumalating. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3828 I have a question. If team unity and chemistry is going to be this organization's concept, does a player like Willis MaGahee fit in this framework for the long term?
  16. With all the negative karma and misfortune this organization has endured thru the years, this accident would have broken our back and morale this year. All the naysayers and critics would be lined up bashing the Bills. Although I was frustrated seeing all the success Big Ben has been enjoying and watching us steadily spiraling downward, I do feel horrible about hearing such a terrible thing happening to such a great kid. I wish him the best and a complete recovery, but man I'm glad that we didn't draft him now!
  17. I saw that scenario too Ramius. All of these situations seem reasonable, new coaches, disgruntled players. I think it's safe to say that Lelie won't be playing in Denver this year and the Broncos will be compensated for him. As far as you questioning the validity of these rumors Nanker, I suggest that you do a little surfing on some websites. It may sound like he said/she said but there is speculation around the league on all of these players. Lelie is in the mix on all of these scenarios. Down in New Orleans you see Payton has already gotten rid of a couple of players. He's not fooling around. It's funny how both players he traded went to the AFC East. Hmm, are the Dolphins and Jets next?
  18. He sounds like a Saban special. They need a DT and they seem to like all the cast-offs. He's been a huge disappointment and a underacheiver so far but he does have some interesting talents. Does a new enviroment make a difference with this slacker? If somebody could motivate this guy he could be a very good player. It's tempting to sit down and interview this guy. The Packers do have a new coach and this could be an example of having very little tolerance for this type of player and molding the team in his fashion. One of the attributes to this guy is his age. He's young with a ton of potential. It would be great to see Kollar getting into this player's face and firing him up. The Packers did keep him this long and got rid of Grady Jackson a heck of a lot earlier. Tripplett and a motivated Washington would make a great tandem in the middle of our defense. I wonder what Jauron thinks about this guy. Here's a couple of links on this guy. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?act=Post&CODE=00&f=1 http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?act=Post&CODE=00&f=1
  19. I just did a little quick surfing and here's a scenario with another team that would make sense. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AjoP...=yhoo&type=lgns The Titans could stand to use a pass catching TE and Denver loves RBs. If San Fran gets Lelie, Tennessee gets Johnson and Denver gets Brown then this would seem like a pretty fair and useful trade for all parties involved.
  20. If there is any truth to this proposed rumor then I would think that Denver trades Lelie to San Fran who in return trades TE Eric Johnson to team X who then compensates Denver with a player and/or draft pick(s). The New England/Daniel Graham scenario seems logical but I was thinking that Buffalo could be a possible suitor. I'm not too impressed with Vincent, especially after him not attending any of the OTAs. He is up there in age and we did draft alot of speed in the secondary this year that could possibly replace him, even if it's not Whitner. I wouldn't even mind if we sweeten the pot with a future draft pick if we could get Johnson.
  21. Both have been rumored in a 3 team trade. I don't know if it they would be 2 of the 3 teams in this trade but it would make sense if they were. San Fran could stand to have a big WR and they did just draft TE Vernon Davis. Buffalo could figure to use a big time pass catching TE. This is why I'm wondering if the Bills could be in this mix. I'm trying to figure out what Denver could stand to use. Could secondary help be a need for them? If so, maybe FS Troy Vincent is expendable. Of course this would be based on the emergence of our newly acquired #1 draft pick Donte Whitner. I wouldn't be shocked if something of this nature were to unfold. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
  22. He's got good size and he's supposed to be a ST animal. This is a little bit of a surprise, seeing that it didn't happen right on June 1st. I wonder if there is going to other late releases.
  23. I think that time determines character best. While I wouldn't be too thrilled to have any of my draft choices making public headlines, I do understand that these young players are barely adults. I also understand that a person's perception is their reality. That is why labels or reputations are so hard to reverse. I'm disappointed to see such a young player like Pacman Jones already being used as a low character guy. Here's a quote and a link to this so called "low life". May 27 Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports the day Tennessee Titans CB Adam Jones signed his multi-million contract last August, he pledged his support to the 100 Club, which provides financial relief to families of police, firefighters and emergency workers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Of the $78,000 raised by the 100 Club, $50,000 was donated by Jones. http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cf...s&news_id=49988 I'm not trying to be a player advocate but I think that the media does make or break people's images. I'm using Pacman as an example because somebody already did in a negative way. I don't think that a low character guy is too concerned with doing something like he did. I think that he may be immature and has used poor judgement in the past but he should also be recognized for the good that he has done too. No, I think I'll wait until someone is about to finish his career rather than before he has barely even got to start it to get a more accurate bead on what his character is like. The players who are in or around their 30's and are still doing the same garbage are the ones who don't impress me as high character guys.
  24. The last team he played for was the Rams, so Kollar & Co. would know best if he has anything left in the tank. He's only 27 and should be had for cheap. I would think that he should be good for at least some depth. For economic reasons I wouldn't be too surprised if some team signed him just before the June 1st cuts. He's got good size at 6'3" and 255 lbs. He also had surgery to repair a two-year-old knee condition doctors had missed and is in excellent shape.
  25. To be more accurate, how about the biggest surprise impact?
