Draft Value Experts: What would we have to give to:
Tipster19 replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For any team to move up in the draft it's going to take more than just picks, there will be players involved. If anyone is looking for us to move up then you better decide which player(s) to throw into the deal. -
Yeah, that profile sounds encouraging but what's it 10 years old? Nothing to get excited about here, this would be for depth and doesn't solve the true need.

As much as Al Davis likes Russell he's got OC Greg Knapp harping in his ear about the time frame to develope a young QB. Look for Davis to take the safer bet and take Johnson and rid himself of a malcontent in Moss. The compensation coming from the Packers will probably come in the form of pick(s) out of the 2008 draft. Once this unfolds the question then would be who takes Russell? The logical choice would be Detroit but they are rumored to really trying to get out of their current pick at #2. Even if they can't trade down they would have quite a dilemma on their hands on what to do. Grabbing Russell wouldn't do anything for them this year and winning now is a must. They have an offense intact and taking OT Joe Thomas would make it go. He's another safe bet that should be a fixture on their O-line for years to come. Cleveland is another team that needs to start showing success now. They can't afford to throw another year away. In selecting Quinn they would be getting a QB with alot more starting experience, not to mention the Charlie Weiss influence and hometown boy appeal at the gate. I could go through the next three teams and justify why they would not need Russell and would be willing to pass but I think the obvious could be figured out. No, I think Russell would make it to the Vikings at #7 and that's where it would get interesting. Here's a team with that has plenty of needs and I can see them making a trade here. Childress has the Eagle connection and McNabb has seen better days. Say what you want about the Eagles but when they do want someone in the draft they do step up. The Eagles pick at #26 in the 1st rd and the only way to have a chance to jump up so far in the rd would be not only adding pick(s) but player(s) also. Fortunately for them Minnesota is a team that has multiple needs to fill. I theorize that the Eagles would trade their 1st (#26) and 2nd rd (#57) to the Vikings. In addition they add TE LJ Smith and LG Todd Herremans. This may be enough in compensation but if not they might have to add a 3rd or 4th rder out of the 2008 draft as well. I could go on and on but let's just end it by saying that the Vikings would love to be able to address two big needs (OG and TE), still pick in the 1st rd and obtain a quality O-lineman (Staley?) or WR (Meachem?) with the 26th pick and grab an extra pick in the 2nd rd. The Eagles usually prepare well in advance for their needs and this would be a wise choice in grabbing Russell now and let him develope behind McNabb.

I have to agree, the Browns take Quinn. The leadership was lost last year the way Edwards berated Frye last year. They got Jamal, even if it's only for a year and how many high draft picks did Cleveland use in the last few years for pass catchers? I didn't get to the point of Weiss filling Romeo's ear about Quinn. Keep in mind that it best serves Weiss to have one of his QBs to be drafted so high, it makes for better recruiting for future QBs. The Browns can't turn their backs on a franchise QB. To WVUFootball29. Staying put doesn't provide the replacements that we really need. Although Willis is great and we have a big need for LBs, Peterson is a bigger talent that addresses a bigger need for us. As long as he does get by Detroit and Cleveland expect us to trade up with Washington. We'll get a LB in the 3rd rd and at least another one or two on the second day of the draft. It's easier to play defense, and outside of a few LBs the rest of them are more comparable. Matter of fact the LB that I think Buffalo drafts in the 3rd rd isn't even a LB, he's a S. S Aaron Rouse is slipping a little bit and he'd be outstanding as a cover 2 LB ala Cato June. I purposely didn't mention the 2nd rd because I fully expect us to take a CB here.
-
If Peterson were to slip, I don't believe that he would ever get by Atlanta at the #8 pick. They also have two picks in the second at #39 and #44. They should be no threat in the Turner Derby but then again you never know. I think that they are more of a pain in the neck in the first two rds of the draft, they have an earlier pick than us in both rds and pick again right after us in the 2nd rd at #44. If nothing happens with Turner, then Atlanta has the advantage over us unless we're content with just taking a RB in the 3rd rd. They also have three 4th rd picks and if they haven't taken RB Tony Hunt by then, then I would expect them to have Michael Bush on their roster by the time this rd ends. Oops! I forgot to post a link. http://www.ajc.com/services/content/sports...=7&cxcat=21

I know that the scenario is a little confusing but three team trades usually are. The Redskins would be the ones who land up with DT Tim Anderson. They would also receive our second 3rd rd pick at #92 and the Bears' original 1st rd pick at #31. The Bears on the other hand would move to the #12 pick (from the Bills) and also receive the Redskins' LB Rocky McIntosh, who they have been coveting. The Bills give up their #12 pick, #92 (the second 3rd rder that we got from Baltimore) and DT Tim Anderson and receive Washington's original 1st rd pick at #6. At this point the Bills then select RB Adrian Peterson at #6. There, done!

Aye, I was never was a player for Bledsoe in the pre Buffalo stint, then got caught up in the moment when we signed and flew him into Buffalo. I got real hopeful and then bought in when he had that big season. When the whole Bledsoe Experiment crashed and burned I got totally deflated. The icing on the cake though was when the game was on the line against the Raiders and he threw the ball away on 4th and whatever thinking that it was 3rd down.
-
It seems like the Bears don't really want to be in the top ten and they really would like to get McIntosh in their trade with the Redskins. They are also starting to realize that this Briggs may really hold true to his word and sit out 10 games. Meanwhile the Redskins are regretting not having the draft picks that they foolishly pissed away and are in a position to be alittle more flexible than normal for compensation. They also could stand to use some more interior line help for their defense. Here's where the Bills may find an opportunity by using a little creativity. They are in need of a RB and it appears that this Turner is going to cost more than what we are looking to pay, so here's what I think can be a palatable solution for all three teams involved. Washington trades their by splitting their 1st rd pick (#6) to the Bills and McIntosh to the Bears for their 1st rd pick (#31). The Bills in return sends their 1st rd pick (#12) to the Bears and DT Tim Anderson and our second 3rd rd pick (#92) that we got from Baltimore to the Redskins. When it's all over and done with the Bears land up with the #12 pick and McIntosh, the Redskins land up with the 31st pick, LB Lance Briggs, DT Tim Anderson and a 3rd rd pick at #92 and the Bills get to move up to the #6 spot minus Tim Anderson and the #92 pick.

Pacman getting suspended can only help Buffalo's
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I might want to retract my statement about Green Bay. They had alot of cap room but now with the resigning of LB Nick Barnett they are about $14 million under the cap. While this is comparable to Buffalo's, I find it strange that if they were to become interested in Turner that they would burn up so much of their cap room. In other news the Titans may be getting over $5 million in cap relief because of the Pacman suspension. Ah, it's never ending is it? It looks like we'll be tortured right up to the draft with this Turner situation. -

Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aw, that hurts Dino! I just thought the new developement of Jones getting suspended changes the complexion on the Turner scenario. Of course it always comes back to the compensation that AJ is looking for, reguardless of what teams are in the race. -
With another need on their team it'll be difficult for the Titans to mortgage their future. Losing their starting RB, WR and now their CB should make the Titans look more to FAs, June 1st cuts and the draft to fill out their roster. I'm still expecting Green Bay to enter into this scenario but having Tennessee taking a step back can't hurt.

Did anyone else want to barf watching Sanders whitewashing his "homie" with those softball questions? Now hearing him after the fact getting offended with the punishment handed down on Jones is the icing on the cake. I live in Sanders' hometown in Fort myers, Fl. He refuses to comprehend the responsibility that Pacman is accountable for his actions. The commissioner is too severe in his severity. Give me a break! I'm so sick and tired of this guy sticking his big ass nose in anything that is self promoting or rebelling against society. He has the mentality of a Spike Lee. Here is someone that gets arrested in his hometown because he wouldn't conform to rules. As stupid as it sounds this guy gets arrested by the Port Authority for fishing on a lake owned by the Southwest Florida International Airport. this after he was already warned not to do it. Two years early he ignores a policeman's warning after a baseball game at Riverfront Stadium and drives his motorcycle thru a restricted gate, dragging the guy for about 15 or 20 feet. Here's a guy that acts like he's righteous and then he stiffs my buddy's father, who is white, that helped coach at one of his youth baseball camps. It wasn't the money that galls me, it's that all the other coaches who were black got paid. Now he's going to get up on his soapbox and preach that the young brother who has bling and wears dreadlocks is being punished too harshly?! Another class act by this azz-ole. There's a local kid by the name of Noel Devine. He just finished high school and this kid is a RB who is unbelievable. Check him out on you tube, you'll be wanting Buffalo to draft him in a few years but forget it, he's a rockhead. Sanders, the knight in shining armor' comes swooping down and takes this kid under his wing and is going to show him the way. Old neon Deion starts the process of interviewing potential colleges for the kid. When he talks to his old alma mater, FSU, he steers the kid clear of them. No big deal but now the alumni can't stand his ass and won't even give him tickets to their games. Ha! Now before anyone starts jumping my sh-- about this, thinking how admirable of him, hold that thought. This jerk is only involved and concerned now is because he is looking to become this kid's agent. Look, I can go on and on about this militant big mouth but I won't. I'm just giving you some insight, not only on this jerk but also how we the public get played by the media and it's spokespeople. Shame on the NFL Access for giving this shameless clown the airtime. This is a voice of opinion that I'm going to believe and listen to? I don't think so! If Pacman Jones was white, you either wouldn't hear a peep out of Deion or he'd be one of the first ones to burn him at the stake. I just wanted to share a little insight on someone that the media and other sources put in front of us. It's really insulting to watch someone so disgusting spouting his BS. Here's a couple of links on this wonderful evangelist. Tell me how remorseful he looks in his mugshot. Ah yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/deionmugshot1.html http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75BC0A962958260 http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...75BC0A96F948260

Here's a link to his status. I wonder if he could be worked into our line-up and if so, what capacity. Would he be a good addition? My guess is that this guy becomes a June 1st casualty. I'm making this post more so to have people keep in mind that June 1st will provide some unique opportunities and we don't have to live and die by the draft. http://blog.mlive.com/lionsinsider/2007/04..._in_detroi.html

The Lions really want Patrick Willis and may try to
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow Pyrite Gal, that was really a great insight. Although I agree that we can't expect nor should we rely on Willis to be the integral part of our defense. If he is still available when we draft, I do believe that we should and will draft him. Some of the players, I forget which, stated that it takes two years to really grasp our defense and three to really devour it. Having someone with Willis' speed and ability will be a huge dividend come next year. -

I just had a thought occur to me. Doesn't the Lions resemble the Redskins is some ways, especially during the draft? They both manage to mangle themselves, even with having great draft slots. This seems to go on year after year. -

The two problems with that is the money that it takes for a #2 pick and we do need to come away from this draft with at least one LB. The only other way to accomplish that would be by trade or a June 1st cut pick-up. -

Sorry, I didn't bother to read the whole blog. I first saw this snippet on KFFL and when I saw that it came from Mlive I just read the first part of the story. I now see that it was mentioned again later in his blog. -
Why not Michael Bush? The guy has played QB, LB, DB, WR, DE and now RB since high school. He has the ideal size to play HB and would eliminate our need at RB. Could you imagine him and A-Train lined up in the backfield?! Or better yet, put Bush at the line of scrimmage. Jauron would have alot of versatility with a player like Bush. http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/bush_michael

Ok it's draft day and Buffalo is on the clock but Willis has already been selected. Now what? The needs talked about the most for Buffalo has been LB, RB and CB. If Willis is gone then either we can take Poz or Lynch. The problem with taking Lynch is it knocks us out of taking one of the premiere LBs. Taking Poz at #12 can happen but why not try to slide back a bit and get more compensation and then select Poz? Tennessee would make a good trade partner but like us they have plenty of needs and too few draft picks. I've been kicking around the concept of trading our 1st rd picks with them. Obviously we would need additional compensation from them and that's where it would have to get creative. If they swapped their 2nd rd pick (#50) for our 3rd rd pick (#92) from Baltimore it would get closer but still not enough. I know that right now it looks like we have more than enough DTs but none of them strike me as a run stuffer and that's where RFA DT Randy Starks comes into play. He would make not only a good insurance policy but also strengthen our rotation with McCargo. This allows Tennessee to move ahead of Green Bay and be able to draft Lynch without giving up one of their few valuable draft picks but still give valid value for us. Now picking at #19 we would still be able to draft Poz, shore up our D-Line even more and for the long term and increase our draft pick value from a late 3rd rder to a mid 2nd rder. We would then have two 2nd rd picks and an early 3rd rd pick still. Our first pick in the 2nd rd (#43) we select CB Marcus McCauley and the second 2nd rder (#50) we take RB Brandon Jackson. Now with just our original 3rd rd pick (#74) being the only first day pick left for us we take the best available player or even take another LB like Tim Shaw or Justin Durant. I think that our defense would be set for years to come. Before this type of scenario gets shot down, consider the other benefits and ramifications that result with a small trade back in the 1st rd. The money gets smaller for the players and in the second and third rds there's abundant of talent in that range this year. And since second-round wages top out around $1.25 million per year for four years and quickly get below $1 million a year as you get deeper in the round. That's the kind of price-control the Bills need with this cash to cap situation. This will allow us to have a cushion for any potential future trades or June 1st pick ups.

If you could interview DL Anthony Hargrove, what
