This draft reminds me of being a kid in a candy shop...

I don't think that this kid is the thug that people make him out to be. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/dr...awn-lynch_N.htm -
I sure hope Marv doesn't over react with our positions of need at LB, RB and CB. I don't think that he will and I believe that there is alot of solutions still available for us to fulfill these needs. Players like Hartwell and Michael Bush will allow us to keep our draft intact without destroying it by overpaying with draft picks for RFAs. We have multiple needs and good draft pick positions. I don't think that we are that far from being a very competitive team. By filling areas of need with what's available to us in the draft, free agency and June 1st cuts should position us for the play-offs without mortgaging our future. http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5992 We should bring him in for a visit, it can't hurt our cause.

I think that he's going to go alot higher than what people expect. I wouldn't be against taking him with our first pick (#74) in the 3rd rd so we can forget about this Turner Derby. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patr...bush_visit.html

Deciphering what Marv said on 2/16/07.

How about Matt Gutierrez? I would think that a 6th or 7th rd pick would be worth the investment. -
Man, April 28th is going to be one hell of a day......

Happy birthday dude! Make sure that before you blow out the candles that you wish for a very successful draft. -

By the way, is Amobi any relation to Christian Okoye? No but he did claim it at one time for acceptance. -

I'm in total agreement with you on us still needing a runstuffer in the middle of our defense. Here's what I think would be ideal if it could happen. We swap our 1st rd pick with San Diego and maybe a future pick in compensation (the 2008 3rder that we got from Baltimore?) for Turner. Picking at #30 we take Tennessee's DT Justin Harrell. He's been talked about being selected as high as #23 by KC. I don't think this happens now because they just lost G Will Shields to retirement and they also re-signed DT James Reed, so an O-Lineman should take their first pick. The Saints are potential suitor for Harrell but if slides past these two teams then the Colts will be all over him at #32. Now with our 2nd and our two 3rd picks we address the the LB and CB positions. I'll take a guess at this point what names to put in these rds but I do think that the LB(s) that Marv is going to draft are going to surprise many people. People are looking for him to aquire the likes of Willis and Poz and I don't think this will be the case. I'm expecting names like Justin Durant, Buster Davis, Brandon Siler, Quincy Black and Tim Shaw to be on our roster when the 2nd and 3rd rds end. These players are well within our picks and I think that we will get two of them and still use one these three picks for a CB/S type DB back. To me this would a fantastic draft and our biggest needs would be addressed. -
I find it interesting that this player has slipped. He could not only be a steal but especially in an area of need for us.

He should be a second day draft pick and appears to have the makings to be a real nice sleeper. Would he make a good third string QB for us? http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/gutierrez_matt http://www.journalnet.com/articles/2006/01...ts/sports01.txt http://isubengals.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl.../011106aaa.html

Rumor has it that the Eagles are shopping RB Ryan Moats.
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wasn't my rumor, here's where it came from. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/nfl_exper...n?urn=nfl,29616 -
http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4622 Everything that Marv stated has either came to fruitation or looks like it will. In breaking down some of his statements I found Marv to being very upfront. The remarks about one or two RFAs leads me to believe that Turner was one of the two. If there is to be another one I wonder if that would be a LB. It doesn't look like there will be though due to free agency nearing an end. I found it interesting that the O-Line and the run defense weren't mentioned as draft options and so far that proved to be accurate with at least the O-Line. This appears to be fulfilled by free agency, which Marv also stated that off the top of his head we would probably be signing somewheres around 4 FAs. I think that we are up to 3 so far, right? Sounds like Marv expects the players that we got already to start performing on the run defense. Other than aquiring Walker, it doesn't appear that we'll be getting anymore D-Linemen. At the right spot WR will be addressed and that sounds to me to be like a second day decision, also a 3rd string QB too. Assuming that we do use our 4th rder for WR, what kind of QB could we get with a 6th or 7th rd pick? Yikes! So, I guess that this draft will be predominately geared towards LBs, a CB or two and a RB. It's not surprising, it's nothing that hasn't been hammered on this board for the last few months. One last note. What a difference between Marv and Donahoe in discussing what are needs are and what we'll be looking to address. Day and night, huh?

Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rumors?? What are you talking about? I asked for some input on a RB to see if he would be a good addition. I'm just trying to figure out, like everybody else, what we are going to do or add at the RB position. I thought at one time that we were going to get Chris Brown, hoped to get Turner and now it looks like it will be coming from the draft. I guess that when I said back to the drawing board it's in reference to trying to figure out who we will be drafting because that looks to be really the only valid solution at this point. -
Although it seems that we have plenty of DTs we are really not complete at this position. Converting this position from a weakness to a strength would compensate us in other areas of our defense. When you can crush a pocket and stuff the run it would allow us more of a cushion at the linebacker and secondary positions. I don't feel that we are weak at these other positions, it's just that we don't have depth. If we have a monster front D-Line then you'll see a big difference in this defense right away.

Ok, I can accept that. I didn't know much about him and was under the impression that he was expendable because he was too much like Westbrook and Buckhalter. Well, it's back to the drawing board. -
Nice article on Bills site about UB Football and the Bills

It's nice to see the community's team staffs looking out for each other. I like that we take care of our own. When one of our professional sport teams wins it all the rest of the nation is going to see what western New York and it's fans are all about. I have to say, when Syracuse won the national championship and Derrick Coleman was instantly on the phone with Boeheim trying to celebrate with him and for him, it gave me a deep gratification that our people/players are waiting, expecting and not forgetting what this region means to them. I can recall several memorable stories of past athletes of ours who are forever loyal and dedicated to our fans and our region. Darryl Talley's full page good-bye in the newspaper to Don Bebee thinking about how much he would like for the Bills and it's fans to experience the feeling of winning a Super Bowl right after he did it as a member of Green Bay. There is so many more stories to mention but I probably already said too much. We're coming up on another season and I just want to say, hang in there, our time will come and when it does it will be SWEET! Go Bills! Go Sabres! -
Marv came back to Buffalo as a GM to complete some
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. -
Yeah baby! I'm talking SUPER BOWL! That's right! He saw us going backwards with each administration and getting further and further away from ever restoring the pride and glory. Before his tenure is over I want to hear Marv ask one question and only in the way that he can ask it. Where else would you rather be than right here, right now! Go Bills!

Good point but you never know what might have changed since then. Who knows, maybe the Eagles see Lynch sliding to them. -
If we don't take a player at #12, then I would love to see us trade back a few slots, pick up aditional pick(s) and take Harrell with our first pick. He'd be a great addition with the rest of our DTs and DEs for years to come. Here's some links. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...tinharrell.html http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/harrell_justin http://cornfromajar.blogspot.com/2006/09/j...t-honey-he.html http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=17456 http://voluminous.blogspot.com/2007/03/jus...sses-torch.html http://www.rockytoptalk.com/story/2006/9/14/64010/3906 http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/team/player_draft.php?id=2971 Trading for extra picks will allow us more chances at LB. We can also take a RB in the 3rd rd if need be. I like this type of player and would like to have him on our team.

If we were to be interested, we should just offer them money and not draft picks, I hear that their accounting department isn't too swift. We could possibly land up getting him for peanuts. -
They were all standing on a somewhat of a curve but that being said Adrian Peterson looks like a beast! Akoye didn't look that big at first but he was standing sideways. Look again and you'll see that he's got some good sized arms and pretty thick chested. Lynch didn't look like a slouch either.

I don't know the guy and he might be a box of rocks but what he had to say made sense. I know that there is much more intelligent people on this message board than this old ex NFL brokendown talk show host. I just happen to agree with what he said this time. -

I understand. I really think that Harrell is a force and would make a difference in our defensive front seven. I'm tempted to scrap Lynch and move back in the rd and grab Harrell later in the first rd. LB position was addressed with Rouse being converted like Cato June. That would be one LB spot addressed and we could either take another one in the second day or pick one up after the June 1st cuts. We already were already attempting to add LB before the draft with Holdman. If character is not an issue with Lynch then he fits with the mindset of Marv apparently is looking to do at RB. I have not heard one negative word from his teammates, matter of fact they rave about how he tries to help the understudy with advice and instilling confidence in him. On the way to work, 10:00 am, Randy Cross from Sirius radio said that Buffalo is the surprise team in the AFC East. He said that 9 or 10 wins is not impossible and that he really likes them alot to be the team that nobody talks about. I agree with him and think our situation is not the dire straits that we think we are. -

I found this link after I signed off. It was worth signing back on. Do you think that they think highly of Harrell in Tennessee? It's too funny. http://cornfromajar.blogspot.com/2006/09/j...t-honey-he.html
