What irks me is the way people are trying to justify this whole thing. That woman doesn't deserve to get plowed over, regardless of what time in the morning it was and that driver doesn't have the right to smack her and take off. Does the possibility of it being a star player from someone's favorite football team make it alright? That woman is somebody's mother, daughter or sister and if she was one of my relatives, I'd be looking for justice.

This board makes me laugh. If this hit and run incident that is involving Lynch's vehicle would have happened with any other player from another team this board would be ready to tar and feather him. Why the tolerance? I don't know if Lynch was in the vehicle or not but he is accountable to a certain degree at the very least. It was his vehicle and he most certainly knows who was driving it. Evading the authorities and hiding behind his attorney is BS. Stand up and be a man because whoever was driving that vehicle is certainly not. I have no problem with someone making a mistake but I do take issue with someone being indifferent to a human life. I never realized how many gumshoe detectives and Clarence Darrows we have visiting this board. I could only imagine if this was a Patriot that was involved. Talk about hypocrites! I don't give a sh-- if it's a Bills' player or not, a woman was hit and left for dead. Whoever was driving that vehicle should get his @$$ rung up period. Stop all this legal ramification BS because most of you don't know what the hell you're talking about anyways.

I noticed that the Patrtiots protected themselves in the Nick Kaczur situation by picking up OL Oliver Ross. Regardless of who the FA RB is it still wouldn't hurt to have insurance in the event that this Lynch incident takes a nasty turn for the worse. The only other solution is if the Bills feel that they already have the right RBs on the current roster.

In light of the Marshawn Lynch situation it might not be a bad idea to take a harder look at signing FA RB Shaun Alexander. There's benefits that could be appealing for a team like the Bills. Here's a RB with a distinguished career that is winding down but has a sterling character. I'm all for winning and even making concessions on the character vs production scenario but having some questionable situations with some of our star players (Lynch, Hardy etc.) this off season is giving me a very uneasy feeling so far. I'm not convicting Lynch, I think that he's a good guy and hopefully he wasn't even in the vehicle but this latest incident is just another example on how vulnerable this team could be. On a lesser value I haven't forgotten the Anthony Hargrove suspension last year. He wasn't as valuable as Lynch is to this team but his suspension couldn't have come at a worse time either. Alexander could/would be a great compliment to Fred Jackson on and off the field in the event that this Lynch thing gets out of hand. What would be another benefit with Alexander is that he has played plenty of games in inclement weather. I was happy to see the Bills get the ball rolling by trying to re-sign Lee Evans and hopefully this doesn't become a distraction for him and the team and gets resolves sooner rather than later. The direction of the team is very important at this time and it concerns me to see some our latest additions having some difficulty adjusting to the bright lights while others like Evans, Edwards, Jackson, and Losman just come in and want to play football. It's our offense and the players on it that will make the difference for our success or failure this season. I'm not running up the flag or pulling a chicken little but having some solid additional insurance going into the season might not be a bad idea.

Ok, I'm going on record now and putting this out there.

I'll start off by saying that the Patriots have more questions about their team than we do. Their secondary has been decimated, the LBs are ancient, their OL was exposed in the Super Bowl and looked to be wearing down and now they will be monitored more closely now so they shouldn't be having their extra advantage this year when they play opposing teams. Us on the other hand have an OL that was jelling more as the season wore on until Peters was hurt, our young players like Edwards and Lynch have some experience now and Lee Evans won't be smothered like he was in the past. I haven't even addressed our defense yet but just having a load of players returning from injury and adding some key veterans will make a huge difference in what we'll be able to accomplish against other teams' offenses. I haven't forgotten the 15-1 streak against us but do you really think that we can never overcome them? Look at what is happening and not dwell in the past. Teams do improve and others decline. It's our time against them and I'm confident that we split the series with them and even beat them soundly in the season finale. We'll be hungry and they'll be content. Our time is now and payback is a B word. -
I'm thinking that in our home game this year we are going to throttle the Patriots. We have the nucleus to do so. This of course is barring any major injury to our key players. We have a veteran DL sprinkled with fresh, young players who are ready to break out, a secondary who will greatly benefit from them and hunry LBs who play from snap to whistle. Between Stroud, Whitner and Poz/Crowell/Mitchell we will have great leadership in all areas of defense. We have our Vince Woolfork type player only he has speed in DE Chris Ellis. Our OL is huge and will dominate most opposing DLs. The Patriots do have a great one but we have a PLETHORA of weapons on offense. A big key for us is keeping Edwards healthy but in the event that if he does go down I believe that not only will Losman will be ready but he'll also be able to do an admirable job as a back up. Our RBs have a very important year of playing time under their belts and our WRs all have a role that they will be able to fulfill. Evans will have a monster year, especially when Edwards is able to hit him in stride on intermediate passes, Hardy will be alot more than just a red zone threat and Parrish/Reed will be a dangerous in the slot for us. I can't wait to see when we use our four WR sets! I also expect our TEs to be the surprise position for us on offense. We are loaded with explosive return men on STs and one of the league's best punter who will provide our defense with great field position. I don't ever recall too much talk about Lindell but I think that he'll be more lights out than ever before. What a fabulous way to end our regular season before we get ready for our first post season in the last several years. As much as we loathe the Patriots and the way that they have slapped us around in numerous games, don't think that the core of our players who have had to endure it has forgotten that either. We have young players who have grown up and we added valuable veterans who will be bringing a much needed attitude with them. The Patriots aren't going to be so well aware of our defensive signals like in years past and we are also changing up on things that we have done in the past. Our secondary for instance is going to be much more interchangable than ever before, our LBs are bigger and stronger and I truly believe that we are going to have a pretty nasty DL. We won't be able to shut down Brady & Co completely but when we are able to to attack their suspect secondary and put plenty of points on the board then this will most definitely make their offense much more one dimensional and we'll have the players who will be able to take advantage of this. Christmas is coming three days late this year boys but it'll be worth it.

Donte Witner 97 Rock interview
Tipster19 replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for a great post. I'm so glad that Whitner is on our team. I suddenly feel very optimistic about Hardy because of having a teammate like Whitner. I truly believe that he will have an impact on James and help bring the best out of this young man. I also love the sense of the team comrodity that is forming between our veterans and the young additions. It wasn't mentioned but I get the sense that Stroud is involved and is also helping in showing our young guys about having the attitude and mentality that it takes to be winners. I think that we are all in for a very pleasant surprise with our team this year. -
colin, you are the !@#$knk man!

What a unsung player Hull was from the glory years. I remember how he used to marvel watching Thurman play. I love this quip the most from the article. "This absolutely is the greatest honor I've ever received. Coming to Buffalo after spending three years in New Jersey, I was shell-shocked. But Buffalo was so much like where I live right now in Mississippi with the exception of the snow, That is my home! To think that my name will be on that stadium - I know that's my home now and it feels great. It means a great deal to me to know that the people in Buffalo are what made the Buffalo Bills in those glory days. I promise you, without those fans, we would never had made the accomplishments we had. I can look back five years from now and say, 'You know? I'm still in Buffalo because I'm on that wall!'" http://buffalobills.com/news/AlumniSpotlightKentHull.jsp Click on some of the links under each name for some more interesting tidbits. http://www.billszone.com/mtlog/archives/20...ffalo_bills.php

Wow! What a thread! Look, I don't have the time nor patience to read a 21 page thread but let me say this. I'm not defending Hardy one bit, truth be told I think that this kid has ALOT of issues but until ALL the facts are revealed I'm going to with hold an opinion and even then who's to say how accurate it really is. I think between his childhood, cultural background and the state of our society we are in for some real sticky times with this kid. It doesn't help that he is forever linked to a harden criminal for a father. I believe that Buffalo took a great risk in taking this kid who apparently has alot of baggage. Having said that I also believe that he is still capable of turning himself, his situation and lifestyle around under the right circumstances. Take solace in the fact that players like PacMan Jones, Michael Vick and others have had numerous transgressions before the hammer came down on them. What the Bills/teammates should concentrate on is influencing Hardy in a positive way and surrounding him with the proper people. I think that Hardy's potential downfall is and can be his family. I was thinking about how Trent Edwards has had his sister helping him make the adjustment easier for him but I don't think that this is an option for Hardy unfortunately. I think that the little I know about Marshawn Lynch is that this might be the consumate teammate for Hardy. Lynch's greatest contribution to this team just might be that he can identify and communicate with Hardy in a way that will be welcomed and received. If not or if no one else can reach out and touch this kid then forget about the Bills, this young man just might self destruct all together.
-
Here's what I see. It's Mother's day for a kid who really grew up without parents. This could be more of an emotional day for some than others. The incident involved his father, a guy who served 9 YEARS IN PRISON. No one was injured, especially his father which indicates to me that the display of a firearm might have been used more as a deterent than for anything else. Hardy is going to give a bunch of us gray hairs before his career concludes in Buffalo. Hopefully someone like cousin/surrogate father figure steps in and reasons with Hardy that he needs to be isolated from some of his immediate family members for awhile. Advise him to allow himself to at least get his career started before he derails it and his life beyond unrepairable damage. I'll wait to hear more of the details before I decide to jump off a bridge.

Check out the 1st rd in the 2005 draft..., you know,
Tipster19 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, now I really want to throw up. In the trade up for Losman in the 2004 draft we traded our 2nd rd pick (#43) and 5th rd pick (#144) plus our 2005 1st rder (#11). What was available was S Bob Sanders (#44) and either RB Michael Turner (#154) or WR DJ Hackett (#157) in the 5th rd. DeMarcus WAS taken with our original 1st rd pick in the 2005 draft at #11. Shawn Merriman was the next pick in that draft at #12. I point all this out because when you draft wrong or have a bad draft the ramifications have rippling effects not just in those years but also in the years that follow. Levy followed Indianpolis' blueprint in taking S Donte Whitner 2 years later at the #8 pick when LB Ernie Sims (#9) and DT Haloti Ngata (#12) were still available. Grabbing RB Michael Turner in the 5th rd would have had an impact on last year's draft as well. We probably wouldn't have taken Marshawn Lynch with our 1st rd pick, although I am happy that he is a part of our team. I also think that if we had Sanders then there would be no Whitner thus allowing us possibly taking Sims which would equate to no Poz. When people wonder how good Donahoe and Levy were as GMs I think that this is just one example of the ineptness of Donahoe. I realize that the above possibilities are just that, possibilities, and that Marv wouldn't neccessarily have executed them but looking back on how Levy did draft since Donahoe then I do believe that it could be very realistic that some of these players would have been on our team. Thank GOD that Ralph got rid of Donahoe, that's all I got to say. -
....revenge is best served cold. While they enjoyed pounding us unmerciless the last several years it's time for things to change and I do believe that this is the year that we start turning the corner. Once we begin to start to beat them then I do feel that the next few we will be kicking their @$$e$. All we need to do is to split with them this year and then the rest will follow. It's easy to doubt but it's time to start BILLieving. Go Bills!

I'm looking forward more to Hardy's presence on the field than his stats. Having him being an effective redzone threat and catching passes for 1st downs to move the chains would be a successful season not only for him but also for our team. If opposing defenses try to double up and shut down Lee Evans and only provide single coverage with a smaller DB on Hardy then James' physical build will make it a total mismatch. Having Hardy only catching redzone TDs and short gainers for 1st downs will be the least that we can expect and that will be good enough to make this offense go but if Hardy were to add any kind of significant RAC then Buffalo will shred defenses and THAT'S when it's going to be real exciting for our offense. Once defenses realize that they have to pay more attention to Hardy then that's when Evans will blow up in a big way. Having Josh Reed in the slot will be another dimension for us also. He isn't effective as a #2 WR but he is definitely a very dangerous slot receiver. He really impressed me last year with alot of important catches, especially for 1st downs. THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE BUFFALO! Go Bills!

I thought that I might better show the 2nd rd from the 2004 draft as well so the whole scope of the trade up could be evaluated more accurately. Once again it looks like that there wasn't alot of blue chip players taken in that rd except for one big time player and that is S Bob Sanders who was taken one pick after our slotted pick. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft...d=round1#round2 -

I guess in hindsight if we were to torch a draft this was the one to do it. If Losman is called to duty because of injury to Edwards and does an admirable job then that would take some of the sting out of this pick. -

Signed, sealed and delivered. I'm sorry about your loss and the pain your family has to endure. There's no words for me to say that will ease your pain but I am thinking about your boy and he is in my prayers. -
Thanks for the videos. I love watchings clips like that and never get tired of it. I'd like to add one thing, that Rick Reilly is one ignorant SOB.

I hope we land up with a TE like this.

Oops! I thought that this was Bavaro's myspace and that he would like to meet Scott Norwood. I'm embarrassed, I was totally naive about this.
