  1. Unless he convinces Jim Leonhard to come out of his retirement to be his starting safety, his defense will suck. Leonhard was a true unicorn - the only person smart enough to fully understand his Rube Goldberg-like scheme and be able direct other players on the field to their correct assignments on the fly. His defenses with and without Leonhard tell the tale.
  2. That analogy doesn't work because Evans was drafted before the Bills’ original pick. The whole premise of this thread is based on an incorrect memory of the original draft order.
  3. Correct — Evans went before the Bills’ original pick, which was #9.
  4. Josh Allen-led offenses vs Vic Fangio defenses: 2019: 20-3 win vs Denver; the Bills offense racked up 424 yards (244 rushing yards), and the last 11 minutes were garbage time. 2020: 48-19 win vs Denver; the Bills racked up 534 yards of offense 2023: 48-20 win vs Miami; the Bills racked up 414 yards and it was garbage time very early 2023: 21-14 win vs Miami; the Bills racked 473 yards of offense That's an average of 34.25 points and 461.25 yards per game. Not too scared of a Fangio defense with Allen as my QB.
  5. I.e., we have no actual idea. For all we know, his mom died three days ago. Wait until you actually know something before casting aspersions.
  6. Have you read either of the pieces, start to finish? If not, slagging him with a whole bunch of juvenile swear words seems off.
  7. Hyde is a perfectly fine returner.
  8. That is not an actual answer.
  9. Bruce Smith was the best player in the league in 1996 inclusive of all positions. He had 47 QB pressures in addition to his 14.5 sacks.
  10. Kelly wasn't starting to decline -- he was DONE. He could barely move and had lost his arm strength.
  11. Kelly was awful in 1996. Not really a great comp.
  12. Rex not only agrees, he thinks he has it in the bag! https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/rex-ryan-thinks-he-will-get-the-jets-head-coaching-job
  13. The thing about "coaching in January" is that you have to get to January. The years his defense performed in the regular season -- coincidentally, when they were most talented -- led to January runs, but in only 2 years out of 6. It was borderline criminal that Cincy didn't make the playoffs this year given how good their offense was.
  14. Defensive expected points contributed during Anuromo's full tenure at Cincy as DC (2019-2024): 2019 - Cincy's D was 26th in expected points contributed (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/opp.htm) - sort by last column 2020 - 22nd in expected contributed (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2020/opp.htm) 2021 - 12th in expected points contributed (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/opp.htm) 2022 - 9th in expected points contributed (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/opp.htm) 2023 - 26th (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/opp.htm) 2024 - 26th (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2024/opp.htm)
  15. "Today is proof NFL teams rig games.. its worse than deflating balls, worse than spying.. worse than taping up players on other teams. NFL should take Buffalo #1 pick." https://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/threads/2024-game-day-thread-the-final-stinker-bills-pats.1165152/page-85
  16. No, that's not true. From Rule 8, Article 1 in the official NCAA rule book: “A field goal shall be scored if a scrimmage kick, which may be a drop kick or place kick, passes over the crossbar between the uprights of the receiving team’s goal before it touches a player of the kicking team or the ground.” It cannot hit the ground and count as a FG.
  17. No, not AP writers. Many talking heads and ex players too. Here are the voters from last year: https://apnews.com/article/ap-nfl-awards-panel-e71a6a4641246b75abcca6a553bc0dab
  18. He is significantly better than singletary and moss, so I fully expect that the Bills will pay him.
  19. OJ also has the yards from scrimmage record for a single season - 2,243 over 14 games in 1975 (actually his best season). Over 16 games, that's 2,563 yards. The 16-game season record holder is (surprisingly to me) Chris Johnson with 2,509. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/yds_from_scrimmage_single_season.htm
  20. Would you play him at all this week given the lack of snaps or try and avoid the risk of injury?
  21. Barnwell has both Dawkins and Brown on his third team:
  22. Barnwell isn't an all-pro voter, or at least wasn't last year: https://apnews.com/article/ap-nfl-awards-panel-e71a6a4641246b75abcca6a553bc0dab.
  23. If the Steelers have to play in Baltimore next weekend, I'd bet a fair sum of money that they'll be utterly blown out. I think the Ravens win that game by at least 17 points. The Steelers really need to go all out vs the Bengals. After four straight opening round playoff exits, ensuring the best situation to avoid that outcome -- i.e., playing a reeling Houston team -- should be the paramount task. They can beat Houston. In no way, shape, or form do I think they can compete with the Ravens right now regardless of past history.
  24. Brady played the whole first half (Jimmy G played the second) and with the win the Bills got to 9-7, their first winning record in a decade: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201412280nwe.htm. The other interesting thing about that game is that Jerry Hughes had a full sack but the stat keeper only gave him a half-sack, leaving him at 9.5 -- short of the 10 he needed for a bonus to kick in. He and the Bills appealed afterward, and the league changed it to a full sack. He got his bonus.
  25. Yeah, Cook has been better this season than Mixon, although the latter has been pretty solid too (58 more total yards than Cook; 12 TDs to Cook's 15). I think Cook should have gotten it, although the case can be made that Mixon has the harder road given the Texans passing game struggles. Still, pro bowl voting is always going to have a popularity contest element to it. Cook averages 2.6 yards before contact and Mixon 2.2. Cook has 14 broken tackles and Mixon 19.
