  1. The buoye play was absolutely 100 percent textbook PI. Why why why do Bills fans need to make conplaints like this? It really makes them sound stupid.
  2. Wow, Jax is such a hard team to like. Relentless trash talking paired with lots of cheap shots all season. Awesome talent on D, however.
  3. No doubt about the timing and anticipation aspect; it's the deep outs and other longer throws that need to be on a rope that I worry about. He has never impressed me with those pass types.
  4. I did say he was more competent than Ponder. Regardless, his arm is decidedly unimpressive and I would never take a chance on that knee.
  5. I have watched, 26. He is not good. In terms of his play style, it always struck me as a moderately more competent version of Christian Ponder. His arm is definitely not strong enough for a place like Buffalo either. Just my opinion, of course.
  6. Late arriving to this. The stats are the stats (and they aren't impressive), but has anyone WATCHED Bridgewater play over multiple games? He is NOT good. Not a great arm, not great in the pocket, and not that accurate. Plus he didn't have a bad injury; he had a *horrible* injury that leaves most people who suffer it permanently debilitated. No thanks.
  7. QBs don't have win/loss records; teams do. Look at the losses he's been involved in: an OT loss to the Giants, a final-play loss to the Steelers (failed 2P conversion), the ridiculous loss to TN, for which he was not at fault; a 27-20 loss in NE against a superior team; and a 45-44 loss to Indy in which the RB dropped a *perfect* throw on a deep wheel route late in the game that would have sealed it. Look behind the W-L record.
  8. If they redrafted the 2008 class now, Flacco would be a stone-cold lock at #2 overall after Ryan. He has had a good career and has been a great playoff qb over 15 games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_NFL_Draft
  9. Walter Football has us going CB first too. These mocks are all premised on no trades, which is kinda what you have to do give the craziness that putting in trades introduces. They are also pre-free agency, which makes them real shots in the dark. Where Kirk Cousins ends up will drive a lot of the mocks eventually. I can't condemn Kiper for doing his job. I don't think Jackson is a first round pick either, but we shall see. I'm always a little suspicious of QBs who rush for 1600 yards (two years in a row!). It makes the passing game a lot easier for them, and he wasn't even that great a passer this year despite the absolutely ridiculous rushing numbers (6.9 ypa and 18 rushing TDs). Needless to say, he won't be able to do that in the NFL. I don't see him as an ideal pro passer.
  10. Flacco had a very good year in 2014.
  11. I question his situational skills, but I honestly think most people don't understand how difficult it is to unite 53 players game after game, especially when half of them are violent sociopaths. Consistently leading players and getting buy-in are not easy things to do, and he's good at that part of it. A lot of coaches aren't good at it. I always go back to Joe Torre. Was he the greatest late-game manager? No. But he was a great manager of people, and was able to keep a team of superstar millionaires (many of them inherently selfish) united and team-oriented for a long time. See above. He has definite weaknesses, but too many don't look at the strengths he possesses because all they see are the games. A lot more goes into it.
  12. I think Brown is a really great player, but I don't even think he's the best receiver in the game *right now*. I'd take Julio Jones over him and wouldn't think twice about it. EDIT: If you look at the stats of each player and factor in that Brown has played one more season, Brown's and Jones's stats are close to identical.
  13. He's a biology major at Stanford and his main sport growing up through HS was track. He is good at football, but may not actually like it. He is also smart and may have his sights on the rest of his life after football. One can always go back to school, but in the sciences, it's not that easy. One tends to forget stuff over the years; he'd have to start over in a few areas, most likely. I would never knock a person for staying at Stanford to complete a strong major. ... Or he may want to complete his degree in biology. Bryce Love isn't anything remotely like McGahee, a certified moron.
  14. The Eagles are where they are because of an elite QB who got them to an 11-2 start. Philly does not go 13-3 without him, and they don't win that game on the road. Foles was alright in Saturday's game, but 15 points is 15 points.
  15. i didn't hate the trade, but man was a good last night except for that one blown tackle. Bear in mind that he's facing off against the best wr in the league with an elite qb throwing to him. There are always gonna be some completions.
  16. Absolutely - his sacks are mostly of the vulture variety.
  17. All good points but: SF vs NO in the playoffs in the 2011 season. Excellent stuff, thanks. My one rejoinder is that I think we're seeing an era of elite qb play happening or guys in their mid-30s. He really has gotten better over his whole career.
  18. I hesitate to say this, but by the numbers for Smith over the past seven seasons are really good -- elite, in fact. Since 2011, his teams have gone 69-31-1 with him at the helm. He is not the reason they lost to TN either. He played well in that game and was REALLY let down by the backup TE and the kicker, who pretty much cost them the game on offense. He led the league in passer rating this year and the Chiefs ended up 6th in yards and 5th in points. Honestly, I'd take him, and I'd be happy to get him.
  19. Yeah, but a lot of it is just getting to third down. Teams like No and NE just don't get to third down that much, relatively speaking, and it may be the case that teams like that have a greater percentage of third downs deep in opponents' territory because of the compressed (and therefore easier to defend) field. I don't have the numbers, but the Bills seemed pretty terrible on third down in the red zone. Recall that they failed twice against Jax and were saved once by an offside on the FG kick. Another knock on Dennison's scheme: the Bills were 2-14 on 4th down this season. That is AWFUL.
  20. The annual firing of coordinators in Buffalo reminds me of the "airing of the grievances" phase of Festivus.
  21. Yup - not factoring in the difference between the Jax and SD secondaries is a dereliction of duty on John C's part. Seriously, Peterman would have been absolutely embarrassed if he had started that game. He is simply not ready for prime time, and Jax definitely has a prime time D.
  22. Re Bevell: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/BeveDa0.htm He had decent success in 2008 with Gus Frerotte, and Brett Favre had arguably his best statistical year ever in 2009, when Bevell was OC.
  23. The Cowboys are far, far higher on my sh*t list than all of the others. The Redskins are a distant second. That's just me, however.
