  1. Darnold is the obvious choice for me. But i realize opinions differ. Despite the noise we're hearing now, this is a freaking great qb class.
  2. My hunch is that the Giants are the partner (Gettleman and Beane worked together for years), and that the Bills now have the ammo to do it: 21, 22, 53, and 65. That is a HAUL, and yet it still leaves the Bills with a pick in every round. I think Darnold is the target, and I also think the Browns are taking Barkley at one. The trade for Taylor also suggests for me that they're taking a qb is going to sit for a year, and Josh Allen is the likely candidate there. He is clearly the most physically talented qb to come along in some time. I am guessing he is there at 4.
  3. I like Tyrod a LOT even though he was not the long term answer. I hope he gets the Browns to the playoffs too.
  4. They are absolutely trading up, and thank freaking god.
  5. The pass I suspect you're thinking of was thrown by EJ Manuel. There isn't a player in the league who wouldn't have been injured on that play given the ball placement and the angle of the defender making the hit.
  6. I don't mean to start an argument, but the draft is about PROJECTION, with past performance being just one factor. Darnold is TWENTY years old. He has it all - size, arm, instincts, etc. Has he made mistakes? Yes. But again, he is TWENTY years old. Moreover, he was objectively good the past two seasons. There is a reason he will go number one overall and why the Bills reportedly think he's the top qb prospect (like most other teams).
  7. That was my immediate thought too.
  8. Carter was injured. Not really a bust. I suspect he would have been great if not for the chronic knee issue.
  9. Whaley was Taylor's biggest in-house enemy when he was here. Not sure of your point.
  10. They only overpaid him if the payment creates cap issues. As far as I can tell, the Patriots have zero cap issues.
  11. You are wrong. He was not only #7 in the NFL, he was absolutely lights out in the postseason - the games that matter most. https://www.profootballfocus.com/nfl/players/stephon-gilmore/7016 If you're not factoring in post season performance, you're not analyzing well.
  12. Gilmore was better than decent by pretty much every measure.
  13. Assuming you're referring the DH as a "pitcher" (I could be wrong), I'll say that I like watching a pitcher bat even less than a DH. The pitcher Ab is a non-athletic play and shouldn't be in the game. Ironically, I don't like the DH rule much either, and the obvious solution is to field 8 batters. However, that'll never happen because of the havoc it'll wreak on baseball's record books. If I had to choose between a DH rule I don't like and one ninth of all at-bats being non-athletic events, I'll take the former. Again, I don't like the DH, but the alternative is worse given the unwillingness to adjust lineup size. As for the HR increase, it's not the ball, it's the launch angle revolution more than anything: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/home-runs-are-back-in-baseball-why-were-going-to-see-more-homers-and-strikeouts/ .
  14. To be fair, the Bills scored 24 against the Jets in 2016, not 31. There was a defensive TD, plus 7 of those 24 were in absolute garbage time. That Steelers game wasn't remotely close. More garbage time points - a td with one minute to go.
  15. "Tyrod, he's the most underrated guy in free agency, in my opinion," Thomas said. "I like him better than all those other sort of second-tier guys." Tyrod ain't a free agent!!
  16. Whoops! In 2015, Louisville had the 31st ranked recruiting class, and Wyoming was 103rd. In 2016, Louisville was 39th, and Wyoming was 117th. In 2017, Louisville was 35th, and Wyoming was 110th. https://247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/TeamRankings
  17. Yes, flat out. Wyoming gets no one. http://gocards.com/news/2015/9/24/BB_0924154924.aspx
  18. I agree with Buffalo Rush here. I don't think he's good, but he's OK/middling. He's lasted quite a while, which tells you that the network doesn't regard him as garbage. .
  19. Bledsoe was terrible! Why does the myth persist? After his first 8 games (i.e., over the next 40), he was one of the worst qbs in franchise history.
  20. My gut sense is that McDermott and Beane like Taylor more than a lot of people think they do. I don't think they think he's a great qb, but I suspect they view him as a tough-minded gamer who has the total respect of his teammates (which is very likely the case). He can also game-manage the team to victories more often than not. Assuming you're going to draft a qb in the first, getting rid of him for an unknown doesn't seem like a wise move on the face of it.
  21. Well, the second quote referred to Jackson, who had a lot better talent than Allen around him.
  22. Good stuff; thanks. The first Josh Allen quote was awesome. Nah, that was 10 years ago. They're good now.
