  1. This team desperately needs offense, and Lawson is an average-to-above-average NFL player at this point. If you want to compare, I'd say he's probably comparable to Robert Woods with regard to how fans viewed him going into his year 4 season. They shouldn't be drafting for a replacement when they already have a decent player there and when the extension isn't that expensive given their cap situation. I'm not opposed to drafting DE if the guy is elite, mind you, but they simply have to fix the desperate offensive talent situation. They'll never go better than 9-7 without truly committing to a serious upgrade on that side of the ball.
  2. I think this is a terrible hire, but in fairness Ernie Accorsi was a sports reporter (newspapers) before becoming an NFL exec. The era in which he started was very different and far less complicated, though.
  3. I don’t think trade downs should always happen; sometimes it’s best to go for the lower-rated but still very good player if you feel like you’re that one position away from having an elite team (not the norm, to be sure). It’s just that the Bills have so many needs on offense, and the more picks you have, the better the chances that more will pan out. https://www.nber.org/papers/w11270
  4. Um ... the Pats are the most analytics- heavy franchise in the league. Ernie Adams is all I have to say. https://www.google.com/amp/s/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/02/01/eagles-patriots-both-relied-on-analytics-to-help-them-reach-the-super-bowl/amp/ and http://onlinedsa.merrimack.edu/new-england-patriots-data-analytics/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/11/19/patriots-use-analytics-but-belichick-dismisses-analytics-websites/amp/
  5. Jeezus H. Christ. The Raiders are the NFL equivalent of the Trump administration -- hiring folks because the boss hears them talking on TV. What a clusterf**k.
  6. That's way too extrem of an example. In real life and not including qbs, it's more like the 5th rated player vs the 14th rated player. That's why trade downs happen. And trade downs are what the bills should be focusing on anyway. They need a many picks as possible.
  7. Williams is a central valley, CA guy just like Allen. There may be some bonding potential.
  8. The difference between 14 days and 13 days is meaningless, but more importantly, the Pats will one day less of rest going into the conference championship game than their opponent (7 as opposed to 8). Nothing to see here.
  9. I want her to do well - i want more women announcers - but “fracas” with a short “a”??!
  10. Why wasn’t hauschka placed on IR so we could be fielding an uninjured kicker?
  11. Looks like McDermott implemented the Nick O’Leary plan.
  12. ?? Enunwa was hurt almost the entire season this year. He has been literally limping through games. He demonstrated last year that he’s quite good when healthy. He’s a good player and the contract is very reasonable given that the Jets have ~$100 million in cap room next season. He has been playing on a bad leg most of this season. He is ten times the player Jones is. It’s not even really debatable who is better or who has more upside, actually.
  13. When he's healthy, he's definitely better than a scrub. Not sure why you would say that. He's been nicked up this season. With contracts, the thing to remember is that you're not paying for past production, you're paying for projected future production.
  14. He doesn't need the money. He's very, very rich.
  15. McDermott was SERIOUSLY outcoached last Sunday. It was as bad as I've ever seen for him. A low point.
  16. Yes, the article is actually quite positive! I have no idea what the OP's point is.
  17. Ted Washington was better than all of these players. Granted, he only spent 6 years on the Bills, but in all of those years the Bills' D ranged from above average to elite.
  18. I love the idea of Bell (he is significantly better than Conner, in my opinion), but IIRC the Jets have more cap space than us and allegedly want him a lot. He'll choose NY over Buffalo for the obvious reasons if it comes to that.
  19. It'll be Miami because of Gase's shaky position there and because of Kyle Williams. The Bills will be playing harder; of that you can be almost certain.
  20. Good post, but it's also the case that you don't really know what you have until the real bullets start flying. With regard to more complex running plays, you have to run them to get better at them. McDermott clearly wants a run-heavy team, but if you want to be able to compare with the NEs, Baltimores, and old Harbaugh 49ers on that front, you have to work at it. Running a super-simplified scheme simply doesn't work in today's NFL, and you're never going to be better than below-average if you settle for really basic schemes. Plus there was the ridiculous QB situation and the now-readily apparent decline of their bell cow, McCoy, who has been flat-out terrible this year (it pains me to say this; I've defended McCoy for a long time). Plus the receiving corps, of which nothing needs to be said. On that front, give Daboll credit for making Foster their main guy and scheming to get him open.
  21. True, but I think the Dolphins will probably be running a little faster to the bus than the Bills. Just a hunch.
  22. This is not good for our eventual draft position, I reckon!
