  1. https://247sports.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/Article/Bills-release-veteran-WR-Bobby-Shaw-104131922/ Note that Shaw had 56 catches (just like Jones did last year) in the previous season.
  2. In years 3-6 of his career (not including his rookie season, in which he didn't play), he threw 145 TDs (36 per season on average) to 56 INTs (14 on averge).
  3. I don't know as if this is the right take. I think some, including me, think Barkley *at this moment in time* is probably better able than Allen to run the offense as it is envisioned on an X and O board with crispness, speed, and the requisite field awareness. However, I also think the presumption is that Allen, who is bright, should be able to do it just as well as he gains more experience , and he therefore needs to be on the field to get better and better at it. Secondly, the X and O board plan often becomes meaningless in the heat of battle, and Allen is better at making a play when things break down (as they inevitably do from time to time). So I guess my point is that for just this upcoming game against TN, it's an open question as to who is more likely to generate a W. Barkley is the better game manager at this point, but has a slew of physical limitations that'll prevent him from making plays when things break down. On the other hand, Allen is struggling right now and is basically a turnover machine (he's leading the league in INTs and has fumbled it 5 times). That said, if both are healthy, Allen should definitely be starting. He needs that in order for him to continue to progress. It's just unclear to me who is more likely to help the Bills win the game taking place in five days.
  4. ??? — he has played an incredible number of snaps over nearly 19 seasons! Of course he’s going to have more sacks than most given that he may well up play more snaps at qb than any other qb in history when it’s all said and done. That’s irrelevant, though, to how frequently a qb is sacked (a far more indicative stat), and he gets sacked at a fairly low rate. Except for the first season he started in, he’s always been sacked at a low rate. The roughing rate is far more germane to the point you’re trying to make. As for the Bills, I did indeed find 10 QBs off the top of my head who were sacked at a higher rate. It’s all on www.pro-football-reference.com .
  5. ??? — Brady over the course of his career has been sacked at a rate of 4.8 percent per dropback. That ain’t even remotely close to 7th most. I can come up with 10 Bills qbs off the top of my head who have been sacked at a higher rate.
  6. St. Doug is tied for first place right now (and tied for last).
  7. Yep. I am sure Johnny Foxborough's presence loomed large in the film room today.
  8. Fair enough! You win. I'm good with that.
  9. Wtf, dude. I'm out.
  10. ??? I like Allen. He has issues that he has to clean up, however, and he had a very bad game yesterday. It happens. What the heck is your problem?
  11. What the hell are you even talking about?? I'm talking about Allen's manifest ball security issues. Sheesh.
  12. Ha! I thought the same!
  13. There is context to consider. He was clearly hurt after the dirty hit by Anderson in the second Jets game, and was never the same for the rest of the season. He was 67 percent after that kick and his kickoffs weren't reaching the end zone. He's a good kicker and he'll be fine this season, I think. He was 87 percent in his first season.
  14. It wasn't clear *at all* that fumbled after the whistle was blown. Saying that you know that is not based on actual evidence. But whatever. I'm talking about ball security, and I feel like I'm talking with Allen's technicality-obsessed lawyer.
  15. you do realize he missed a 58 yarder in game 3, right? Also, if you miss your first kick in the first game of the season, you're at 0 percent, right? The presumption is that he'll regress to his mean over a 16-game season.
  16. No, I'm focusing on his PLAY, not weird NFL rules or whether or not something should have been reversed or not. He fumbled the ball on that play, and it wasn't called. And he threw a terrible, amateurish pick that arguably should have been reversed (although it wasn't entirely clear from the replay) because of a very weird rule. Both were bad ball securities plays by him irrespective of refereeing.
  17. No, not really. He gets paid to make 85 percent of his kicks, and there's an expectation that he's going to miss somewhere between 10 and 20 percent, particularly in Buffalo. Stick with your cliches, however.
  18. He well deserved that INT for making a horrible decision and throwing it right to the DB in the midst of triple coverage. If you want to let him off on the most niggling of arcane NFL technicalities rather than judge him for what he actually did on the play, be my guest.
  19. I agree that our STs are a problem overall, but Hauschka is fine. He's not going to make every kick, and missing by a whisker from 49 and missing a prayer 58-yard attempt are his only misses all season. I can live with that.
  20. Actually, I watched a bit of him in Chicago and Philly, and a lot of him at USC. He does some things well, and that's one of them. He has clear physical limitations, though, which is why he dropped in the draft and why he's going to probably spend 12-15 years in the NFL as a backup. Not sure why you're so argumentative about this. His game is what it is, and it's pretty well known at this point. A 49 yard kick is never a gimme. It's 50-50 in the NFL.
  21. I think you actually have to contact someone for there to be interference. That's not evident on any of the replays they showed yesterday.
  22. Belichick is probably planning to figure out a way to steal Hyde from the Bills as I write this.
  23. Relevant to the discussion. https://www.pff.com/news/pro-nfl-week-4-pff-refocused-new-england-patriots-16-buffalo-bills-10 Levi Wallace would have enjoyed one of the best statistical performances of any corner this season if he wasn’t tripped up on an uncalled pick play. Although he didn’t make many plays on the ball and won’t show up on any post-game highlight reels, his consistently tight coverage forced Brady into a number of errant throws. He must have been targeted on close to double figures during the game and gave up only a single catch.
  24. 7 solo tackles, one pass defensed, 4 assists, and two tackles for a loss, and basically all over the field. A dominant, all-pro level performance yesterday.
