I actually thought it was fine to call it. Look: you need to convert 2 two-pt conversions no matter what, and why not try it when it still looks a little like garbage time to the Chiefs? The Bills clicked on that drive, and it seemed like the right time to do it, with the D possibly a little more lackadaisical. Regardless, the Chiefs could score at will and the Bills were not going to win that game. This is a pretty good take, by the way: https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/01/25/buffalo-bills-not-aggressive-in-loss-to-kansas-city-chiefs

Diggs after game watching KC ceremony....
dave mcbride replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ll say something. Brown effectively played in 8 games and had 458 yards and a 63.5 percent catch rate (very high for a deep threat receiver and the second best of his career). Prorated to 16 games, he would have had 66 catches for 916 yards, 6 TDs, and 13.9 ypc. For a #2, that is excellent. He played extremely well vs. Baltimore last week too, making tough catch after tough catch. But you didn’t mention that. He is also *clearly* not 100 percent. When he is healthy, though, he is very obviously a difference maker. Baltimore certainly didn’t cancel him last week. -
Agreed. But they knew it was likely to be called that way going in.
-
He basically played 8 games this season and had 458 yards, meaning he was on place again for close to 1000 yards. He played very well vs. Baltimore too. He was great last week!
-
They have to make a decision on him before the season given that he was a first rounder. My guess is that they’re going to bet on the physical upside and keep him. Talent can be coached, and he came into the league extremely young (20 years old). He is extremely talented physically. The Bills need more guys like that.

WRs are far more likely to drop passes in contested situations. Diggs dropped one earlier in a similar situation in the first quarter. In a situation with three guys around you, it’s harder to see and concentrate than you would if you were actually open. Brown has been great for the Bills and I’m not going to fault him for that one play. Anyway, it was a throw that shouldn’t have been made. If a receiver is basically triple covered, that means someone is gonna be open somewhere else, almost by definition.
-
They definintely had trouble, but on the pick, Brown was surrounded by three defenders. That’s all I’m saying.
-
Strong disagree on that one! Josh threw that ball into triple coverage. Bad decision by Josh, but to be fair it was desperation time and he was just trying to make a play.

I think people are overreacting. Simply put, the Chiefs are by far and away the worst matchup in the league for the Bills on both sides of the ball. The Bills play zone, and it often works very well. Against a zone shredder like Kelce—one of the best tight ends who has ever played—they are always going to look bad. Frankly, regardless of the score, the Chiefs totally dominated in Buffalo earlier this year. This game wasn’t really that much different. I think Edmunds is pretty good, and I think fans dumping on him for Kelce last night aren’t being fair. Edmunds has to guess every play in his zone, and because there is no real pressure on Mahomes, Kelce, who is the best TE in the league by far, gets to react and find the vacated spot every time. And to top it off, Kelce and Mahomes have one of those deep connections where they each seem to know what the other is thinking on every play. He is so good that when they put White on him later in the game, White couldn’t handle him, and White is a really good player. But back to Edmunds, playing zone against Mahomes and Kelce is gonna make a defender always look bad. I’m not saying man is the answer. The answer, I think, is getting a Joey Bosa or a Myles Garrett who can dominate an offensive tackle consistently. That’s what the Bills need.

Brown is good and was on pace for about 1000 yards if you prorate his season, which he missed half of.. He simply got hurt this year. He played great against Baltimore.
-
I think he played extremely well in the second half of the season. The whol D was bad in the first half, like most defenses in the NFL. Basically, it’s hard to play CB in the NFL if oyu’re not pressuring an elite QB like Mahomes. I’m not sure why people think this is Frazier’s defense. It’s McDermott’s through and through. Yes, Frazier calls the plays, but it’s a matchup zone D and not really the Tampa 2 that Frazier ran before Buffalo. The Bills need a Chris Jones and a Frank Clark. They are line wreckers, and the Bills don’t have those guys. Ed Oliver was supposed to be, but he’s not.

Actually, @ScottLaw is right about Allen tonight. He should have had three picks, and my god — the constant 15-20 yard sacks. That is *always* bad quarterbacking, and their frequency (especially in the postseason) makes this officially a problem. Having said this, aAllen is elite and a franchise qb. I look forward to watching him for a long time to come.
-
The Bills are getting their ass kicked by a better team that is the absolute worst matchup in the league for them. The Bills D works against a lot of teams — the ones that don’t have elite tight ends who shred zones. That’s not who they’re facing tonight, though. Also, Allen is great, but right now the KC qb is clearly better. Hate to say it, but it’s just true. i expected KC to win with relative ease, but at the same, what a great season for the Bills. They are almost there. On to the draft!

Detroit Interested in Ken Dorsey
dave mcbride replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember that he went to college in Miami and won a Heisman there. If he’s offered the job, he’d be absolutely crazy not to take it. They are a good, young team, and if he improves the offense, he’ll be in line for a HC job before you know it. -
Deshaun Watson prefers the Jets
dave mcbride replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watson had a pretty good game against KC, playing well enough to beat most teams. The defense, however, gave up 51 points. He accounted for 3 tds, didn’t turn the ball over, threw for 388 yards, and ran for another 37. They didn’t lose because of him. -

The Dolphins are allegedly very interested in Dorsey: https://phinphanatic.com/2021/01/23/are-the-miami-dolphins-waiting-on-ken-dorsey-for-oc/ -
People talk about the Rams-Saints NFC championship game as having the worst call in modern NFL postseason history, but the picking up of the flag (which if it hadn't been picked up would have ended the game) in that Dallas-Detroit game is arguably the worst call of this century. Clear INT, and then the refs pick up the flag. You're always the guy who says it shouldn't come down to one call, but the Lions had that game won. No ifs, ands, or buts.

With a name like "BITE ME," I have a hard taking you seriously. Just saying. -

This is literally a terrible take. Do some research into the games. QBs don’t have win-loss records that are reflective of reality. Watson was phenomenal in 2020, but the TEAM was absolutely terrible. Step up your analytical game. This is a great forum, and it’s weakened by hot takes like invocations of playoff won-loss records that necessarily occur in very small sample sizes. -

Orlando Brown Jr. literally ran a 5.85 at the combine. I'll say it again: 5.85. That is not a misprint. He is literally the slowest player in the league, and he wasn't going to catch him.
