  1. He does get the TFL (an underrated stat!).
  2. Laughing at injuries is objectively bad and stupid (and just mean-spirited), so save me your snark.
  3. But Pitch Perfect 2 and PP 3 are the ones with Josh's girlfriend in it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_Perfect_2; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_Perfect_3 (They made more money than 1 as well!)
  4. Brees was fantastic in his fourth year in San Diego - comeback player of the year and fifth in offensive player of the year voting (and a 104.8 qb rating). Point is, he was already good when he got to NO. Darnold's grandfather was quite literally the Marlboro Man and named Dick Hammer!
  5. The thing is, facemasks are always clear and obvious.
  6. I can’t believe that wasn’t called. Literally, effing outrageous. The twisting facemask is literally the most dangerous play in the league (broken neck possibility). That absolutely has to be called.
  7. And Jerry thought his salary was high because he COMPLETELY misjudged where the WR market was going within the next year/two years. I don’t think that’s right — cooper’s insanely quick and precise foot movement and stop-start ability out of violent breaks are his forte, and while I wouldn’t say he’s unique in that regard, he is top five elite in that category. Fitzgerald was a contested catch monster and the prototype for deandre hopkins et al. Different elite skill sets. I’d also add that for many years, Fitzgerald was a top 3 receiver.
  8. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/10/22/mike-mcdaniel-offense-dolphins/ The Dolphins (2-4) have produced three fewer offensive touchdowns than any other team this season with just six; the league average is 15. They scored 20 points — with Tagovailoa — against what has proved to be an awful Jacksonville defense in Week 1 and since then they have mustered 10, three, 12, 15 and 10 points. They are averaging a staggeringly poor 1.01 points per drive, last in the league. (The average is 1.98.) They are scoring touchdowns on just 8.7 percent of their drives, also last in the league. (The average is 21.3 percent.) The next-worst team, Cleveland, is at 11.1 percent — a different area code. They still employ superior wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, explosive backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, some highly paid offensive linemen and supposedly one of the true running game innovators in the NFL. And they have the worst red-zone offense in the league. “The owner can’t be very happy about this,” said one general manager, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he is not permitted to comment on personnel employed by other teams. “How can they be this bad with the talent they have there? I know they lost their quarterback, but come on. Look at [Browns Coach Kevin] Stefanski — he got to the playoffs last year with a bunch of backup quarterbacks. “If [McDaniel is] an offensive guru, then why doesn’t anyone look good in his offense? Where’s Tyreek Hill? He’s not getting anything out of his backs or receivers. He can’t scheme anybody open? … If you want to blame the [backup quarterbacks], who do you think picked them? [GM Chris] Grier? That offense is [McDaniel’s] baby. It’s all on him.” Through six games, not a single Dolphins player has even 500 scrimmage yards. Hill, somehow, has just 330, and Waddle has yet to break 300. The Dolphins have faced their share of awful defenses, including a fairly broken Colts defense this past Sunday. And yet they again ran out of ideas and winning plays on third down (6 for 15) and in the red zone (1 for 3). “When you are this deep into a season, with that much talent, that’s on the coach,” said one longtime NFL scout and evaluator under similar restrictions about speaking publicly. “You have to find ways to move the football. You think Andy Reid would put this s--- on film if he lost [Patrick] Mahomes? Get the hell out of here.”
  9. 5 solo tackles, 1 pass defensed, and 1 QB hit last week vs. the Bills.
  10. Disagree with the bolded. The NFL is a game that causes countless small muscle tears for virtually all players constantly, and HGH accelerates the healing of muscle tears dramatically. It's why the NFL doesn't really police HGH closely -- if they did and suspended violators, they'd have rosters of 35 players vs 35 players on many Sundays.
  11. The Bills have to pay Cooper only $1 million or so, and even if the Chiefs get TN to eat some of the salary, they're still going to have pay a portion of the remaining $8 million that will be larger than what the Bills are paying Cooper (significantly so, probably).
  12. Again, he had a good season last year. I think he's been on the trading block the last couple of weeks and that the Titans were protecting their asset.
  13. He had a legit good season as recently as last year!
  14. Huh? He played all 17 games last year and had 1,057 yards / 7 TDs / 14.1 ypr. He remains a very good player still but has been stuck in a terrible offense in TN. It always wows me when Bills fans rip on a manifestly productive player who gets traded to a team they don't like. If he had been traded to the Bills instead of KC, the hosannas here would be loud. He was on a trading-block snap count this past Sunday.
  15. I wasn't countering anything - just saying that Rivera had a down year (for him). Why even introduce that given that I was clearly not making a comp? Should I bring up David Cone's 4-14 record and 6.91 ERA on 155 innings? Also, it was the worst winning percentage EVER - and by a lot - for Yankees WS team in a non-strike season. And it was an even worse winning percentage than the 59-48 strike season team. Lots of teams have down years in historic runs. They don't get mulligans because the team was better the year before and the year after. Yeah, I get that they were definitely worse in the second half of the season, but they still had not only the best record in the AL but tied the Dodgers for the best Pythagorean record in baseball (96-66). So I guess I don't quite get the argument outside of frustration-based recency bias that comes with watching a reprise of the 2022 regular season stretch run?
  16. Worse than the 2000 Yankees, a team that lost 15 of their last 18 games (mostly in humiliating, blowout fashion - 8 losses by 8+ runs and 2 by 4 runs) and ended up going 87-74 with an 85-76 Pythagorean record? They almost blew the division that year despite a huge lead in early September. Even Rivera had a down year (for him) -- 2.85 ERA that season.
  17. Dan Morgan didn't trade a boatload of picks for the opportunity to draft Bryce Young. He walked into the worst roster situation in the league this season (his first as GM). What's he supposed to do?
  18. Re Martin, he's had to kick in two high wind games (AZ and TN) and had punts of 27 yards and 34 yards into the wind. No other punter has to regularly deal with the windiest stadium in the league. That should be factored in. In Houston - a controlled environment - he punted 8 times and averaged 50.1 yards per kick.
  19. D-line is kinda never a bad investment, IMHO. Obviously, the players have to be good for it to work.
  20. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2024/passing.htm#passing::pass_rating QBs drafted in the first round in 2018 are currently 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th in QB rating this season. Pretty remarkable.
  21. Good, but I'd add Reid and Mahomes, both of whom are stone-cold HOF locks. Reid also had McNabb, who had a very good career overall.
  22. There are a lot worse than Jones out there. Mind you, I don't think he's "good," but rather -- to quote Bill Walsh -- "good enough to get you fired." Jones is basically the platonic ideal of that aphorism (although it was originally applied to Steve DeBerg).
  23. Yeah, but the pickings in 2023 at slot #24 just weren’t good. It’s easy to say “draft a blue chip qb,” but there weren’t any that were realistic.
  24. They failed because I'm pretty certain those throws to Keon afterward was basically Josh saying, I'm going to get you some yards here.
