  1. Disagree; he likes McDermott and has said so multiple times. He has a lot of respect for how he and Beane have built this team.
  2. Maybe putting his name in for the potential DC opening if Frazier leaves? More seriously, it's pretty clear that BB is a big fan of McDermott and absolutely loves Josh Allen as a player.
  3. I wouldn't say the Browns because their QB was hurt so badly that it had a truly negative impact on his play almost the entire season. True disappointments should be teams who didn't have bad luck with injuries. The Vikings are certainly one of those teams. I'd put the Chargers at the top too.
  4. They lost that game because of penalties -- 14 of them. And every one was a legit call. That's coaching. They are an extremely talented team. McCarthy is terrible. He just happened to get lucky with Favre and Rodgers. The Cowboys would be better off if they canned him and made Quinn HC.
  5. Well, they traded Garrapolo even though it was clear he was pretty good player.
  6. In recent times, there has been no worse move by the Pats franchise than bringing on Newton as the unquestioned starter. While he could still run, he was embarrassingly bad overall. He couldn't throw, and everyone knew that beforehand. He also took way too many sacks. It was kind of pathetic to watch. Their offense was 27th in points, 27th in yards, and 31st in TD passes. I mean, they had NO plan for the post-Brady period even with a top-shelf defense going into 2020. As for the record, they could easily have goon 5-11 too; they barely beat a horrible Jets team on the game's final play and beat AZ 20-17. They lost 9 games because they didn't have a credible QB. He failed repeatedly late in close games (Buffalo, Seattle, Houston, Denver).
  7. From a close friend of mine who is a lifetime Pats fan and very knowledgeable: "It comes down to what I have been saying for years. NE won because they had an exceptional QB in Brady. That is all that matters. If you have one you can attract players and keep players very often at bargain prices. The Bills were able to re-sign just about everyone when everyone was convinced they would lose Milano and members of the offensive and defensive lines. Who the hell wouldn't want to play with Allen? It started when he jumped over the guy in the Vikings game. That's when everyone saw the kid was a gamer. Poyer and Hyde summed it up after the loss to the Titans when a reporter asked about Allen's play and they replied "we ride with 17". The Pats were able to bring in Welker, Moss, Amendola, Rodney Harrison, Gilmore, Fred Taylor, and an endless list of DL. They could fill any need they wanted. KC was able to rebuild their OL through trades and free agency because who the hell wouldn't want to play with Mahomes?.Brady goes to Tampa and brings Gronk and other players that immediately improve the team. The worst thing Billy B ever did to the franchise was allow Cam Newton to play QB for the season. It was a joke. It was fascinating to watch. He was so bad and he just kept playing him and then brought him back for training camp. So they go out and get players and many of them were veterans probably surprised at the money they threw at them. They weren't going there to win with Cam Newton or Mac Jones. They were cashing in. The Pats do not have a single player on offense that teams have to worry about. Edelman and Gronk were unstoppable and opened up plays for everyone on that offense. A NE reporter showed the stat about how bad their offense has been throwing the ball against the Bills since McDermott became coach. A total of 4 TD passes and 7 interceptions. Now 6 and 9 since McDermott took over. "
  8. If that is in fact the case, check out the 2019 draft and it's pretty clear that Mayock did alright: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/rai/draft.htm. In 2019, the Raiders took Clelin Ferrell, Josh Jacobs, Jonathan Abraham, and Trayvon Mullen in rounds 1-2. Jacobs is pretty good but not worth that pick, and the rest have been disappointments. However, Crosby (round 4) is phenomenal and Hunter Renfro (round 6) is very good value for that slot.
  9. Did he make that pick or did Gruden?
  10. Disagree - Kelce is a lot more shifty than Gronk at this point.
  11. My concern is that the Bills not-particularly-athletic CBs will be exposed in a big way. In the first game, they had White man-to-man on Kelce for most of the game and doubled Hill. Neither had a 20-yard catch and while their numbers were OK, they were mostly contained. Neither Kelce nor Hill averaged 10 ypc. I simply don't think Jackson can handle Kelce. It'll be interesting to see what scheme Frazier comes up with because the Chiefs offense presents a real challenge to them with White gone. There hasn't been a drop-off from White because outside of TB they Bills haven't really played a good passing attack. KC will be the best passing attack they've faced by far in the past 5 games.

  13. The Eagles basically have a Tyrod Taylor situation. Hurts can get you to 8-10 wins (max) and the occasional wild card appearance because he’s a good runner and leader. But his passing game is far too limited to ever get you beyond that. But because he can get you to 9-8 and coaches are terrified of running a young new qb out there and going 5-12 (with said coach possibly getting fired), I expect the Eagles to continue to ride him for a couple of seasons more. Also:
  14. They need a QB fast because otherwise they will be fired. Overpaying and stripping assets to get Jimmy G (for instance) is still a better move than sticking with Wentz. What's the gist of this?
  15. Maybe get a PhD in computational science first? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball-Reference.com (Baseball Reference is PFR's sister site and regarded by pretty much everyone as the gold standard for baseball stats.)
  16. This is pretty amazing - Allen finished second (meaning least) after Brady in sack percentage. That is remarkable given the Bills line and the length of time he tends to hold the ball. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/passing.htm#passing::pass_sacked_perc
  17. If you're going to have a second team, you have to give that team a running back. It's just common sense.
  18. Poyer first team, Hyde second team: https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/national/story/2022-01-14/2021-nfl-all-pro-team-roster What I find hilarious - there is no second team running back because they only have one RB and Taylor got all of the votes! They need to fix that. Seriously, either Chubb or Mixon should be a second teamer.

  20. It totally makes sense. The Bills have an upper echelon offense and he's almost the entire offense. Literally everything revolves around him.
  21. Basically the entire Eagles offense ran through him. He led the team in rushing and had 10 rushing TDs.
  22. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/leaders.htm AV is their version of their sister site Baseball Reference's WAR (wins above replacement) and NBA Reference's VORP (value over replacement player). Allen is first at 19 this year.
  23. That's not accurate. He was actually a head coach in college for six years at Cal and William and Mary, and immediately prior to being hired by the Chiefs as HC coach in 1978, he had served as the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes throughout the mid-1970s, where he won 3 Grey Cups. He was ST coach under George Allen for about 3 years in the early 1970s.
