Howard Stern Exposes Obama Supporters 2012
John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not so much anymore. Howard's been around so long that most people get it. Point? Howard Stern is not running a polling agency. Or trying to bore people. He's running a comedy show. Of course he's playing the worst clips. -
What evidence is that?

That's not cutting off contact. Kegtapr had the most correct observation a few ago. Remind yourself of that before writing/calling/texting back. "Your vagina is growing." When you delete, this thread, your cycle of shame will have made a turn we will all applaud.
-
Maybe he believes there was a man named JC, who was a historically significant person, but not divine. I started the thread because it's an interesting find. That's all. No one is changing their beliefs based on it. If you have faith, some early document isn't going to shake it. That's not how faith works.

Blue states are rich, red states are poor. What of it?

The same thing happened here. Cantor and Kyl were little bitches about refusing any tax increase, and wanted 90% of the deficit reduction to come from Dem sacred cows. And though I agree with that in principle, we (the good ole USA) desperately need this deal done, so I'd have hoped they'd cave on tax increases in order to accomplish the bigger goal. But no. Then Obama and Boehner got going and took the Biden/Cantor work and made a 2 person deal without talking to their camps, which was all well and good over cigarettes and beers, but complete stupidity since the rank and file in politics never falls into rank, even when it's an issue as crucial as this. Biden and Cantor could have gotten it done, even though Cantor walked out on the process over taxes. They had laid out 2T in cuts and at some point, Cantor could have swallowed some new taxes that he could spin in his favor. But Boehner and Obama were destined to fail. They both meant well but they were off cutting their own deal without confirming at least some of the details with their leadership. It was asinine, especially 2 years from election time.

Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama

Thank you Tin Foil hat contingent. Romney did not have an easy primary. -
Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama

Cool statistical breakdown B-Man. Let's hop eit's true. God knows Romney is used to being in 2nd and fighting back. That was the neverending story of the primary. -
It's absolutely the case. And Obama's complete inability to sit in a contentious room and hammer out a deal (or even have a conversation) with people he disagrees is a huge liability in this. The Congresscritters, whose job it is to hammer out deals, come across much better than Obama. Granted the Pres does not have to be as Monty Hall as the Congressmen, but still, what is clear is Obama has ZERO ability to do biz. He just speechifies. Anyways, for all Biden's "crazy Uncle Joe" stuff, he was doing the important work on that debt deal. Biden (and Cantor) almost made it happen until Obama and Boehner a$$-fu$%ed it over party politics.
-
You know who comes across really good in this book? Biden. The truth behind the almost-deal and Simpson Bowles is that both sides had to gore their sacred cows. The Dems needed to slash their pet programs--even SS and Medicare. The Reps needed to cut defense and allow taxes to be raised. Biden (and Cantor) did a good job at getting there. It was not always smooth but they worked the other side until they had deals they could live with. Boehner and Obama look worse--for appointing their general to get a deal done then undermining them. Still not done with the book but I'm surprised at how sympathetic it is to Biden and how much good work Biden was doing to cut spending and address the budget woes. Pelosi and Kyl look like complete partisan asses.

Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama
John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
If we could get people to commit to each prediction, I'd be all for it. I might even predict a Romney win to guarantee my departure. -
Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama
John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
To all the "Polls are oversampling, Romney will win in a landslide" posters. I'll make any of the regular posters a wager: If Romney loses, you stop posting at PPP under all surnames. And if Romney wins, I will quit the board, including any of my aliases. Who's in? It's a win-win for me. If you've quit before, like Chef, you don't count. -
Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama
John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Neophyte. Obama can easily lose Florida and still win. Obama has several paths to victory in the Electoral College--look at the map right now. Obama is at 250 and Florida is in the undecided column...he needs just 20 more votes. (No, I don't put absolute faith in RCP, but it's pretty damningly bad for Romney.) Romney cannot win without Florida. It's a near impossibility. That's why the fact that Romney can't take a firm hold in Florida despite it's absolute necessity is a huge concern. Romney is %&%^ed without Florida. Obama can lose in Flroida and it just takes a little more oomph in Ohio, VA, Michigan, and Wisconsin--all states he will probably win anyways. I see that RCP now puts Wisconsin in the Obama camp. I bet Obama beats Romney almost by as much as he thrashed McCain in the electoral college. He's going to win this running away--the only change in the electoral college may be that Romney wins NC and Indiana. We are destined for 4 more years of divisiveness and amateur hour. -
Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama
John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Florida, for Romney, is THE swing state. If he loses Florida, he loses. The fact that he knows that and is not doing better there, in conservatively biased polls, should be cause for great alarm for him. Basically, in his #1 priority state, the poll that leans Republican has him losing. That's a real problem. -

Rasmussen has Florida more in Obama's favor than RCP. And Romney cannot win without Florida. -
Reading this book now. If you can read it and vote for any of the main characters in the book, you're crazy. But I do think that once Obama wins, he and the Reps team up and get the debt/budget deal done. Obama wants heathcare and debt reform to be his legacy and he won't have to worry about another term. The leading Reps want to be able to say they did it too so they have something to run on in 2016.

C'mon B-Man. Stop arguing that polls are wrong and take a stab at this map. Even Rasmussen has Obama ahead in Florida, which Romney 100% cannot afford to lose. If he loses Florida, it is over. Seriously. Lights out...Obama wins in a landslide. -

John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well, go to realclearpolitics electoral map and tell me what swing states will go to Romney to get him to 270. Every time I issue this challenge, the Romney optimists go dumb. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/2012_elections_electoral_college_map.html I want Romney to win but I don't see how he has a snowball's chance in hell. Obama's electoral strategy map is so easy. Obama won VA by 6% in 2008. -
Romney opens 5 point lead over Obama
John Adams replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's not oversampling if people self identify as Dems more than Reps. Oversampling is the buzzword of the last month. Apparently, it disproves all the polls that show things are swinging strongly in favor of Obama. -

Romney's ridiculous comments on 47% of Americans

Add to that Romney is now in backpedal mode instead of owning it. Good luck finding anyone with a pair in this election. -

Romney is in backpedal mode now on this. Could have been phrased better, he says. -

Romney's "guns and religion" moment. He's already going to get smoked. Might as well go out down flaming. -
Another reason to hate Ryan Lochte

No. JEAH branded clothing and goggles is what he will sell. If you sell Jeah branded goggles, he may sue you. no different than Guess jeans or Oakley sunglasses. People can say Jeah all they want. They will only be sued for looking like idiots.
