  1. I'm not going to wade through all 63 pages here but wanted to chime in the HC.gov website and the exchanges. I opened my own firm about 2 months ago and one big concern was figuring out the health care piece. My wife has a job with some benefits so we compared her current benefits vs. what we could get through the exchange. It turns out that the exchange gave us a better plan...with dental--than my wife's job offered--and the healthcare.gov blue cross plan was even cheaper despite her plan being subsidized by her employer. I'm by no means an ACA fan or an Obama lackey but the exchange, if you're looking at health care options, is pretty awesome.
  2. Oh goody, another spend more now and make cuts later bill. Way to "lead" Washington. FU Obama. FU Ryan.
  3. The deposition transcript is a lot less dramatic than the headline. Lawyer: "Now, your counsel has publicly equated your absence from Suri for these extended periods of time as being analogous to someone fighting in Afghanistan. Are you aware of that?" Cruise: "I didn't hear the Afghanistan, but that's what it feels like, and certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal." 4. Which party will grow out of puberty first?
  5. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Thanks...ugh RE Goodwin. Speed guys and hamstrings suck.
  7. Yeah, because against an 8-0 team, the Canisius High School starting QB took a lead late into the game? That's somehow Hackett's fault? I didn't like that 3rd down call either but you have to think your QB will take a sack, throw the ball away, or not take a chance--pretty much anything but throw the ball to the guys in the other uniform. Bills outgained KC on offense significantly.
  8. Also--any updates on Goodwin and Woods? Both getting hurt concerns me--they aren't going far with Easley and Graham.
  9. Interesting. I blame Tuel. I know the argument that they should have been more conservative and settled for 3 but you have to have a little faith that your QB won't make a bad decision there. I mean, even if he takes a sack, it's a pretty easy FG. HTuel just screwed the pooch. I don't mind if he's the 3rd stringer from here on out but please let's not see him on the field again this year.
  10. I'm not ready to give up on Gilmore but he was the worst player in the secondary today. If you didn't see that, you weren't watching. With Manuel, this is a win. RE Byrd, the Bills look pretty smart for avoiding the franchise tag. He is good. He's not great. I doubt the Bills can keep him after that hold out but I hope so.
  11. 38-6 Chiefs. This will be a blowout. Fred Jackson May be at QB by the end. Tuel 10-27, 109 yards, 2 INTs, 6 sacks.
  12. Jesus, totally forgot about this until you wrote it. I spent one year in Buffalo in a school with a pool. I remember that I was about 7 or something and was so happy that my school had a pool. I brought my trunks and the teacher made us take them off. I was mortified. Luckily, there was some sort of option to go to the gym or pool so I just did gym after that first day, when I clung to the wall and watched the clock until the period was over. The teacher assumed I couldn't swim. Great spot for the new kid in class. Only spent one year at tat school before entering Catholic school for the rest of my life.
  13. It has happened. You are just not paying attention. NBC now shows EPL games. MLS average attendance is higher than the NHL and NBA. You can't walk around a city anymore and not see kids in soccer jerseys. It's not the NFL but it's also no longer just a sport kids play. No commercials. One break at halftime. World wide appeal. For boys, it's not the number one sport to play yet, but for girls, it is, so it appeals to both sexes. When a sport is payed everywhere, including on every mean street in every developing country in the world, and the fervor is that huge for the sport, what do you expect? It's not like some Colombian local town rivalry has some tie in to the New York Red Bulls.
  14. "One key demographic -- children ages 6 to 17 -- is conspicuously losing interest in the sport. According to the Wall Street Journal, kids accounted for 4.3 percent of the average audience for the ALCS and NLCS this year, down from 7.4 percent one decade ago. Kids made up about 4.6 percent of the World Series audience. That figure is lower than the number of kids in the 6-17 range who watch the NFL, NBA, NHL and the English Premier League. Making the situation more troublesome for MLB is that fewer kids are playing Little League. Matthew Futterman of the Wall Street Journal notes that 2.1 million children played Little League baseball last year, down from 2.6 million in 1997." From the thepostgame.com.
  15. The Gregorian calendar? Top 50? Nice invention and all but hardly top 50.
  16. Yeah, it's happening. Ages 12-24, only the NFL beats soccer for popularity. Another indicator of its success among the young, EA Sports's FIFA game is the second most popular sports video game, only behind the titan Madden football. With the World Cup on the horizon and Team USA doing well, it's only going to get more popular here. http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/relegationzone/id/1452?cc=4716
  17. And that's different from any other PPP post? Once it's hijacked, who cares?
  18. You're trying to get me suspended in the thread with the warning in it.
  19. I know who you are. I never really paid attention to the tags under the names.I didn't know Just Jack was a mod until he warned me. I was like, "What the what? YOU can warn me?"
  20. Given that after 17 years or something of posting, I just got my first warning for implying that Jim in Anchorage has homosexual tendencies (note--I am not calling him a name here--just conveying the facts around my warning) over on the OT board, I can't imagine what you'd have to do to get suspended from PPP.
  21. This from a guy who comes here and switches poll results with his mod power just because he can? Please go worry about the main board and participate here as a poster, not some 2 bit bully pretending to worry about Darin's turf. I'm all for reasonable moderation. But I'm against you using your power just to mess with people. You want to mess with someone in PPP? Debate them. Call them on their BS. But don't delete a post or suspend someone just because they are being the regular crap-throwing monkey they always are. Of course, like Darin said, it's a private board and I could be banned tomorrow for no reason and there isn't jack I can do about it. Thanks for all the hard work.
  22. BuffaloBill: 11,472 posts and I didn't even know you were a moderator. And apparently a good one at that. I barely know who any of the moderators are. Darin (kind of--he's just the Ralph on this Lord of the Flies island). Scott, who I assume is still around. Simon, who obviously comes here sometimes. No idea who else. Oh yeah, Just Jack who warned me for the first time ever a few weeks ago (a spillover issue that I deeply regret). There must be more. Been here for 15+ years and I don't even know the people who run it all. In any event, thank you and I hope you suspend Tom again. He always deserves it.
  23. Fine with us in Philly. Enjoy being Northern West Virginia.
  24. Well, the defense sure looks crappy. Obviously Lewis is giving them as much as you could expect. At some point, they need to stop the run to have a chance at winning.
