Golden Tate's proclamation
John Adams replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
MY favorite part about his shimmy dance. It followed him running out of bounds 2 yards earlier than he had to so as to avoid contact. -
If you're going to do the stationary bike, do the HIIT method. That will get a bigger bang but make sure when you are in the intense period, you don't wimp out. Agree with others--do some actual biking. If you like biking, get a bike with an rpm gauge. Keep your rpms steady throughout at 80-100 rpms no matter what the terrain. Obvioulsy a big hill will require you to gear down and your cadence may drop but when you get to the top, get the rpms going again, and definitely keep rpms going on slopes--don't coast. And if you want to get a real bike, no need to go to the local $1500 cycle shop. Get a decent used cycle of 8-10 years in age with medium components.

At this point, does anyone think we keep Spiller?
John Adams replied to Big C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yes, yes, yes, yes, yes -
That "block" better wake him up. Yes he was about to get steamrolled but he needed to put up some effort there to at least make the lineman give up a step. I don't expect him to fully Fred Jackson the guy but that was the kind of effort that makes your team question your heart. As it was, Orton was going to get squashed from the right too but the CJ whiff might have gotten Orton killed. I'm hope that play embarrasses him into upping his protection effort. Someone in this thread questioned why they don't put CJ in a position to make more catches. I question this too. In space, he's a massive threat.
-
Exactly. The D line dominated yesterday. I don't remember more than one blitz. They just crushed the Lions. While we're piling on the refs, how about the awful spot on the Goodwin catch. He went out at maybe the 1-2 yard line but they spotted the ball at the 4. Non-issue as they scored the TD but those refs yesterday may have been the worst I've ever seen.

300 YD Passing: Orton 1 Manuel 0
John Adams replied to Doug Flutie Band's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Celebrate Orton's play. No reason to kick sand at EJ. -
CJ is a third down back. That's what he is. And he's a really good 3rd down back at that. Dangerous on kick returns. Sadly he has not shown much to merit a lot of talk as a 1st and 2nd down back. I want to like him and I know he has big games left in him, but I bet he's not a Bill next year. Did you see his "block" on the near safety of Orton. Oofah. The good news is that RBs can be found on the scrap heap. I wanted to strangle the camera man for showing EJ after every good Orton throw. EJ may have a future in this league and with this team. His biggest weakness is vision but he might develop that over time. Clearly he needs a bunch of time. I'd like to see the Watkins late 4th quarter reception again. I thought it got tipped at the line. On replay they didn't show it leaving Orton's hands so I couldn't tell. I feel like I'm watching the next Larry Fitzgerald out there.

Source: HGH testing begins Monday

No one in the NFL is guiltier looking than Clay Matthews. -
His post seemed surprised to find me chastising Birddog. I just didn't understand why. BD is a kook. Well you'll have to be more clear then Ahab. The first part of what you wrote--requoted above, was in the context of a Rand discussion and makes no sense in describing what she wrote. Rands economics and morality were inseparably linked. That's not a "gargbage" conclusion. And for putting me in any position to defend birddog, shame on you.
-
Now you're wrong. Rand's economic theories and morality are integrally linked. To think otherwise is to miss the point of Rand's works almost as much as someone who hasn't read them. The rigidity of Rand's thinking allows its widespread extension into many fields. From her premises, she constructed a code to apply to politics, morality, economics, art. Objectivism is a Utopian ideal stemming "flawlessly" from the core premises. Her books and the rigidity with which she portrayed the application of these principles is absurd but she never ceases even in death to be spot on in her most important warning: Fear the march of the collectivist mindset. It comes in many flavors (Dems and Reps are just different cuts of the same collectivist cloth) but there is really no one espousing true Libertarian ideals and trying to roll back government taking of what's yours (be it money or rights). The collectivist ideal has won and the Dems and Reps just fight over what to control, not whether exercising such control is moral or right ?

Drywall patches bleeding through paint
John Adams replied to TSNBDSC's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Use Kilz to prime it. Then paint. /thread -
Please don't bury your announcement in this thread. Start a new one so people can give you proper accolades.

So, having a giant inefficient rule enforcing leviathon that takes what's yours at gunpoint produces the same results as a minimilist government? Mmmkay.
-
It's obvious that you understand little of the book, which is fine. But "selfishness rules" is not where her philosophy ends. Selfishness premised on unlawful taking is theft, which is both immoral and against the law. As screwed up in many ways as Rand was, her philosophy wasn't so flawed as to be easily exposed as hypocritical by someone of your mental acumen.
-
Wait, what? You think we live in an Ayn Randian-like Utopia? As a reference point, I found the themes in Rand's books striking and agree with many of them, particularly the premise that the government should operate from the premise that it has no right to take what's mine, but having admitted that, I disagree with her extension of the selfishness as portrayed in her books as being the basis for the social contract among everyone. I prefer to think of a Utopian ideal where the government keeps its hands off my **** and I chose how and who to support. Putting that in perspective, most of anything that is ill in the government is government-made and the result of bigger, more intrusive, more powerful government, not the minimalist (and perhaps unrealistic unicorns and rainbows ideal) government that Rand espoused.

Really? I like Collinsworth but Aikman's ability to break down what's happening on a play is better than any color guy out there. He is the best in the business.

Interesting to hear your anecdotal evidence of the Indian sleeper cell.

How about just a few one way glass decorative little well-manicured "cottages" at the WH lawn.

Agreed. My only reaction to this is what I wrote. We shouldn't be so surprised that incompetence leaks through everything in government. IT really shouldn't be that complicated. You hop the fence, get one warning, and if you don't stop immediately, you're punched full of holes. I read in one of these stories that some toddler got through the fence earlier this year. Him, you don't shoot but you surround immediately, with dogs even if necessary. Overreaction seems completely justified at the White House. Am I crazy? Looking at the path this US Men's National team player took, he didn't just go a few feet into the White House--he got really really far inside. If I'm home, no one gets half that far inside my own friggin' house and I pay $20/month for my security system.
-
This is a story that won't go away. That the WH tried to cover up the extent of the intrusion and the earlier incident of the ex-con with a gun on the elevator with the president is not surprising from a security perspective. I'm not sure that I applaud the leaks coming out about all of this but is it really any shock that our government is incompetent even at its supposedly elite levels? Bits of the media now taking note that the initial SS agent who got run over was a woman. I am 100% OK with there being a line that if someone crosses on WH grounds, it's the shoot to kill line. No bull ****, no please forgive me. Just fade to black.

How Has Orton Looked Since He Was Signed?
John Adams replied to Prickly Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks like the way to get Kyle down field fast is to put a bottle of Jack on the goal line. He just leapt up 10fold in my mind. -
