Global warming err Climate change HOAX
John Adams replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
My intent was not to defend their beliefs. The 12-year doomsday stuff is like all the urgent conspiracy-board nonsense. If the end is near RIGHT NOW, there's a sense people will get crazy and act RIGHT NOW. We see this all the time here in PPP. The 12th is coming. Next week something huge will happen. There's a global civil war on. Etc. These things I believe: - We haven't done a great job as stewards for the planet in many ways and should strive to do better. - Better may cause some discomfort ($$, lifestyle changes, etc) and whatever that discomfort is will always be a place of friction. This will be a friction point for which I am happy there are voices on both sides. - The government may be in a better position than private industry to regulate certain aspects of what is good for the environment...another friction point for which I am happy there are voices on both sides. -

Fully in favor of this. -

It worked exactly how the cliche said. R voters mostly hated Trump but fell in line behind him and voted like lemmings. Ds didn't really like Hillary that much and many stayed home. Trump won. -
DR was wrong about a lot of stuff yesterday (like most days). 1 - He said Zelensky brought up US aid on the call first. (He didn't.) 2 - He said Trump didn't withhold the funding. (He did) He's trying really hard to fit everything into his "Trump is a white knight" narrative. On this topic, it's not working. He's out doing another Twitter search now. Give him some more time.

I disagree. Very few environmentalists think the evidence for man-made effect on global warming is bunk. -
Global warming err Climate change HOAX

My observation is not a defense. Many in the environmentalist movement are unwilling to accept any planetary "badness" even when its net benefit would be so high, in this case specifically on the topic of nuclear power. In some ways it doesn't matter. Nuclear is the way of the future barring leaps in other technology. But the bad news is we are far behind in building reactors. -
The president has to follow the law and not engage in quid pro quo for personal political gain. He could have asked for a lot of things, and even vaguely asked them to continue to drain their swamp, but when he called out his main political opponent in particular, things changed as I'm sure even you will admit. The legal question will turn on whether the requested information is "in kind" info of a type that is a "contribution or donation" to his campaign. Given the carrot Trump was dangling at the time ($400 million), there's at least a case to be made that he was trading the aid for the favor. Remember: Trump didn't ask for 20 things, he asked for only two things specifically. That was it. Servers and Bidens. The complaint is interesting because it seems like the whistleblower may not have been alone in his concerns and there are some other facts to be sifted.

Your hyperbole aside, the climate change people see the many negative effects humans have on the planet and lump nuclear in with the rest. It's simple thinking, kind of like thinking, "If we keep burning fossil fuels, what's the big deal? I need my H3 to take the kids to soccer!" -

Warren is the only D who has been consistently rising. If Bernies does down, she will really take a leap. I'd like to see the Dem debate stage with just the top 5, segregating the lessers so we can finally put them out of our misery. Warren 27 (+8) Biden 25 (-7) Sanders 16 (+1) Buttigieg 7 (+2) Harris 3 (-4)
