Here's my Training Camp Report from 7/29/06 PM
John Adams replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fantastic review. Since the QB battle is the talk of camp, it's great to hear all the detail. It will be interesting to see how the line play is when they put on the pads. -
Brodrick Bunkley arrested for loaded gun
John Adams replied to Wild Jay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm all for the right to keep and bear, but a loaded handgun on the dashboard of the car. That doesn't make him sound like a model citizen. -
TO will easily make that team a 12 win machine. He's a force.

The Final Footage

I don't think the Republicans or Dems are controlled by their lunatic fringes. They are controlled by their wishy washy centers, which is why the parties so resemble each other. The Dems are not controlled by enviromentalist extremists or purebred socialists, just like the Republicans aren't controlled by religious zealots. The extremes have influence, but in the end, both parties are slave to a sold-out center.

I disagree. This type of career politician is the problem, not the solution. A real change--a sweeping change-- won't happen through a bunch of career politicians, who, even if they are honest, end up owing too many favors as they rise. The real change will need to be inspired by a power shift at the top and trickle down. Consider Perot. He was a nutcase, but what he managed to do was impressive. Less of a kook could easily have knocked off the Bush/Gore campaigns--if McCain ran for president on what he seems to believe, he could win on an independent ticket. (This is not an invitation to bash McCain--just using him as one possible example.) On winning, if his reforms caught on, he could win a bunch of seats in Congress two years later. With that momentum, people at all levels would move to the McCain-party. The difference between your inside-out approach and what Ken and I suggest is that you still think there's hope for your party. We think it's a bloated mess. Time has corrupted both parties to the point where even the honest people can't get anything done. The Republicans get bullied by jagoffs like Delay. The Dems get dragged down by Union stooges and special interest payoffs. Neither party can offer candidates that govern on principle: they all govern based on who is pushing their buttons best on a given day.

Our government is set up to support the two party system. What we can hope is that a new party emerges against the current one party system. The (Log Cabin) Republican Party formed amidst the devisive issue of slavery. Is there anything devisive enough to split people away from the Dem-Repub machine right now. Noonan argues that spending might be such an issue, but that's BS--Americans are hardly up in arms over spending. The best chance for change is if some big-time leader splits from one of the major parties and runs for pres. on some Perot-like ticket. Then, assuming that person wins and can get the American people behind him for two years, his party wins again in the next Congressional election. With that momentum, a new party could be formed. Despite the best efforts of Libertarians, Constitutions, Greens and the like, sweeping political change in Washington won't happen by winning the Park Superintendent positions and working upwards from there.

More on Haditha. Looks like the civilian deaths were not justified. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060531/ts_nm/...HNlYwNtdm5ld3M-

I only knew Paul as a fellow poster, often as a foil, but I never had ill will for him, nor felt any from him. I hope he found peace.

Gore's global warming movie
John Adams replied to John Adams's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah. Attacking Iraq<<<<<[worse]<<<<sitting "in the Oval office with his thumb up his ass." I'd rather Bush had his thumb up his ass on Iraq than the present cluster. -

If you want a gauranteed job, be paid well, and be useful--go into the sciences. Never met a starving engineer. -
Gore's global warming movie
John Adams replied to John Adams's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You think Al Gore would have attacked a third world despot while his neighbor enriches uranium, at the cost of about half a trillion (so far)? -
Desmond's bunkmate was the guy who Desmond later killed. That guy was the CIA operative who worked with Sayid. We didn't learn much about the guy who killed himself (Razinski). The bunkmate was not Zeke.
-
Elizabeth/Libby's husband was "Dave." Dave was the name of Hurley's imaginary friend. Not necessarily a connection, but given the number of connections in the show, it's not likely a coincidence. Desmond's bunkmate was the CIA operative who worked with Sayid in Iraq. Desmond's love is a Widmore--that corporation name has been all over the backgrounds of LOST--asssume it's a major corporation.

Gore's global warming movie

Gore's environmental positions are just one part of his platform. I've never voted for a single candidate whose ideas I totally agreed with. -
Gore's global warming movie

We won't destroy the planet or all life on it without really trying hard, but we could easily destroy our way of life and humanity. -

Tom's right. The answer to all your questions is surely yes. It's natural. We are contributing. And some of what's said is a scam. Those being the answers, I take our role seriously and try to take care of the environment. I'm not a hemp-wearing Prius-driving nut, but I try to make responsible decisions. -
I just saw the trailer for Inconvenient Truth, the Al Gore global warming movie. It's a doomsday-type movie, at least from the trailer, and I wonder how much of the science of global warming it discusses. Link to trailer in quicktime It seems like Americans have taken an interest in being better custodians of the earth. That's probably because we're rich enough to do so--if we were all starving and cold, we'd be burning unfiltered coal like crazy. I doubt Gore's movie will make much of an impact on anyone. I'm an environmentalist (by my own definition), and I won't see it. The pro-Gore people will applaud it. The anti-Gore people will call him nuts and argue that this movie just a political ploy. Taking care of the earth requires such a long view of things that it probably doesn't drive voters.

Iran eyes badges for Jews & Christians

This is a funny story to track. Now there are stories quoting the Canadian and AU prime ministers who say that "If it's true," they denounce it. Nice intelliegence agencies. -
All websites like Letyour compassguideyou and the TV ads are for people playing the LOST game. There's a link to it on the ABC website.

I can only go from second hand experience on this. I have two friends with Siennas. They both love them. As a passenger, I liked them both. My parents have a Dodge minivan and it's a piece of garbage.
