The Dems are smart enough to propose cutting this budget total (not the way it's allocated). That will be more fallout for the Republicans in 2008. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070205/ap_on_.../bush_budget_19

The RBs both played well. The line deserves it really. MAnning is the easy choice since you couldn't give it to Addai over Rhodes or vice versa.

Bill Joel and the National Anthem

He was great--a nice traditional anthem instead of some interpretation bull sh--. I'd rather have a guy who hits his notes on key than pursue high notes he can't reach. -

Better than the tributes to Motown. -
Are you trading with a Martian GM? Willis might get a 4th rounder. No better.

I couldn't clear the hurdle of the singing part of that video. That being said, Hillary says she based her decision on Bush's statements about the immediate and impending threat of Hussein and his WMDs. I buy that. We had to trust that the intelligence was right but in fact it was wrong. Someone should take the blame for this but Bush refused to point fingers. As payback for a horrid intel gaffe that got us into a nightmare war, Americans chose to vote Republicans out of office in 2006 and will have the chance to do so again in 2008. Americans feel mislead--most supported the war back then and now don't. Don't underestimate people's sympathy for her position. The Iraq war had something like 90+% approval in its infancy. Now it barely gets 35%. People feel as mislead as Hillary. I don't know if she'll win but at the moment, her support for the war and now anger over feeling mislead reflects what a lot of people feel. And also don't forget this: where Bush had the genius of Rove guiding his political hand, Hillary has Bill, who is equally adept at navigating political waters. She's smart and aggressive. She could win. I don't think a sane person could vote Republican unless they want a tax increase.

The Santa's beard was falling off exposing his dark beard underneath and his suit was dirt-covered. I would have thrown them too. JD Drew was a prick. He refused to sign one of the highest contracts ever offered. Batteries are never acceptable projectiles but I've seen Bills fans throw bottles and iceballs PLENTY of times. My mom once got hit with a full cup of beer intended for Bryan Cox. So big deal. No worse than Eagles fans on this one. Never heard this one. Do you even follow basketball or sports? Kobe Bryant is hated almost everywhere he goes--maybe nowhere more than Philly. It's not his hometown and he never says he was from Philly, before or after the booing. I would have booed too. WAY overexagerated. I saw the whole thing. They cheered when he was down on the field. (Again, seen this at Bills games too.) Then they stopped. In no way did the cheering last 20 minutes. Never heard of this either. Seen plenty of fights at RWS when it was Rich Stadium. Many involved entire sections. Big deal. Most places have a lockup in the stadium. The Phillies just put a small courtroom down there for the sake of efficiency. Again, seen this in Buffalo too. Philly fans are dedicated folks. I love Philly games and their fans. They are a little rougher than Bills fans but not by as much as you think.

Iran Intelligence Plans Takeover of Southern Iraq
John Adams replied to Tux of Borg's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
We probably could--a few hundred billion dollars could at least go a long ways towards that. Good thing we spent that money !@#$ing up Iraq instead! -

Conservative talk shows do well everywhere. Conservatives love to whine and hear others do the same. It's a fact. The liberal talk shows don't do as well. -
Nope.

It's a sad commentary that you think it's a bad idea to hold people to a higher standard. I can't believe you people don't give a sh-- that the alcoholic wife beater child molester or whatever sits next to you at work as long as he puts in a solid 8 hour day and is a good guy to go to lunch with. Here's the truth. If you gather high character people together, you get more high character people. If you gather degenerates, you encourage degenerates. What Marv is doing is try to build a class organization--it's a good goal for any business to strive for. It's an especially good one for a business that lives in the public eye.
-
To both of you low character lovers. Here's the point: you try to find the high character guys and keep them. When you get a jerkoff, you get rid of them and replace them with high character guys. That's how you do it. God forbid you strive to fill your business with good people instead of bad. I can't believe that Marv's philosophy would be anything but praised. What a controversy: The Bills want high character guys. Oh god. The sky is falling, the sky is falling. Jesus-H-in-a-Fit, you guys are amazing.

Eliminate The Electorial College?
John Adams replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Then you get overrepresentation of rural states. This is why there is a Senate (2 seats per state) and House (seats allocated based on population). Now, assuming you meant to say that the electoral votes get divided the same way as House seats, which is probably what you meant, this makes sense. -
Eliminate The Electorial College?
John Adams replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's a nice thought. It of course ignores the entire idea behind our federalist system that seeks to limit and curb federal power by balancing it against that of the states. Moving to a pure federal democracy effectively guts the voice in low populations states and would let the cities set the national priorities. So people in say Iowa would be responsible for funding smog-protection and urban development initiatives around the country, while their more rural concerns would go largely ignored. -

Eliminate The Electorial College?
John Adams replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I wouldn't particularly care if the Electoral College itself was scrapped but the idea behind it shouldn't be. For example, it would make sense that each state gets a certain number of electoral votes and all those votes just get cast to the candidate who wins the state. No need for a college of electors--that system is a bit archaic. Still, the idea behind it--that candidates must solicit votes from the entirety of the country and not just city-centers--makes too much sense to dismantle. -

Mike Greenberg would take Brady over Montana
John Adams replied to Willis990's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jerry Rice, not just a HOFer, but widely regarded as the best or one of the 3 best players in NFL history. He's got just about every receiver record there is. He holds the records for yards, TDs, and receptions--not to mention a crapload of others. Montana also ran the pass-happy West Coast offense in an era when people didn't know how to defend it yet. I hate Brady. I wish he played elsewhere. But there's no denying that the guy is an amazingly consistent QB, even when surrounded with lackluster talent. -

12-1 in the playoffs. Occasionally, you get some breaks. Want to rewatch the "Comeback"? You think the Bills just came out and kicked the Oilers' ass in the 2nd half. Reed stepped out of bounds by 2 feet, came back in and caught a TD. Darryl Talley destroyed a WR to get an INT. Stuff happens. And it happens more to good teams.
