The audio of the buildup, the explosion, and the post mortem, in 3 parts, in order.
-
They aren't re-running the show from today on Howard 100, like they would do on any other day. May never hear that show on those channels again. End of Artie looks more likely.
-
Number 1 google search today: "Artie Lange." Call me when you catch up to 1990 Rip Van Winkle.
-
Good comparison and he got fired.
-
The fights have happened a million times. Not violent ones though. That's a much different place.
-
Ugh. No.
-
After hearing the entire post-mortem, he's gone. Won't be back. Can't have violence in any workplace, even that one. Every person, after the incident, said they were scared of him during the fight. He really lost it. They made a huge deal about throwing the CD at Sal a few months ago for the same reason. This incident was "throwing the CD"*100. Sadly, I think it's the end of Artie. He'll be back as a great guest some day but you can't have violent people in a work setting. No way he's coming back full-time. The show will go on. Not sure who will be follow Artie.
-
He offered to quit. Howard accepted. But right after that, Howard told Artie to just step outside and he'd talk to him privately when tempers settled. Could be the end of Artie unless they claim that it's a joke. Artie said he was trying to kill him and would have gone to prison if he'd gotten to him. Artie apparently felt like Teddy had been stealing from him and then Teddy started complaining that he wasn't getting paid--the second he started saying that, Artie went mental. Just heard the fight again. That was pretty genuine. You can hear Artie just escalating the entire time and that guy Teddy desperately wants to leave (he keeps saying "I just want to leave--can we talk about this later"). Artie then yelled at Howard--blaming Howard for instigating it. Great radio. Not great for the show necessarily.

Obama Campaign: We Need More White People
John Adams replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Read about the Condi possibility the other day. Maybe in the WSJ? She'd be a great choice from qualifications/brain perspective, but she might be too linked to the Bush juju to be electable. I say he picks that FL governor whose name is a Google away but I can't place. -
On another note--Stern was talking about Carly's tat this morning. Agreed that it is distracting and unattractive, but her husband is even more disturbing.

Inspirational songs. I thought that meant I'd hear a lot about Jesus or at least a good Channukah Song but it was less spiritual that that. Michael Johns. Great performance of Dream On. The judges were harsh but looking at everyone that came after him, his might have been the best of the night. Another good song. He's chosen a few anthems and hit them all. Continues a strong streak. Syisha Mercado. OK. Again, her stage presence or lack thereof is a problem. Sure, she's pretty, but she doesn't use it or add much to it. Jason Castro. He couldn't have looked any more ridiculous unless he was sitting on a giant mushroom smoking a hookah, but that little ukelele (calling the Department of Redundancy Department) was a stroke of prop genius. Smash the watermelon Gallagher--that was actually a good performance. David "Lee" Cook. He must have drunk from sister Kristy Lee Cooke's gene pool this week because he sucked. The Prince jacket. The song no one knew. The all out suckiness. Ouch. I like this guy a lot and hope he didn't blow it tonight. Kristy Lee Cooke. She....was................goood. Ugh. How is that possible, after so many weeks of craptastic performances? Brooke White. Wow, were the judges kind. I've said it before. Brooke + guitar or piano = success. Brooke exposed at the mic with band= failure. This week: failure. She was terrible. David Archuletta. Everyone's favorite Mousekateer was great this week. Never heard the song but his voice was gold, and the performance was spot on. I don't like him but there's no denying he was excellent tonight. Carly Smithson. I disagreed with the judges. I thought she was good. The sound mix seemed way off tonight. Could not hear her usually booming voice above the band, but when you could, it was great. Disagree with Simon RE clothes. Her waist starts 6 inches below where her belt was and she was camel-toed to the max. Top 3: (1) Johns (2) Archuletta (3) Castro Bottom (6) Syisha (7) Brooke (8) Cooke Holy role reversals! 2 of my favorites were worst of the night. Hope David Cook can hang in there this week.

I thought you were serious for a minute.

Global warming is way down my list of things I care about about. Environmentally, the following are much higher: (1) overfishing/killing so many fish that we're seeing dramatic reductions in lots of fish populations (2) farm-related pollution, esp. use of enormous amounts of petrol-based fertilizer that in no way resembles nature...allows monoculture and land degradation, both of which are real problems (3) deforestation, esp in rain forests Well, that's a start. I care a ton more about all this than climate change, which for me isn't even on my map. I want a fuel efficient car because I think using too much fuel makes no sense and creates unnecessary pollution.

Battlestar Galatica - Season 4 starts Friday

With the exception of character names and the general plotline (ragtag fleet in search of Earth), there's not much in common. -
Battlestar Galatica - Season 4 starts Friday

It's a way updated version. If you like Sci-Fi, it's worth watching from the beginning. -
Does trent have small hands?
John Adams replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he sucked in the snow that day because he sucked that day. Or maybe he had a bad hemorroid problem. OR maybe he is manic depressive and it was a depressive day. Stop being a hamhead. Hands look fine. http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/7763/8a...48d15ff1bz1.jpg -
When the market loses 10% of its value in 4 months, people worry about recession. Combine that with housing slowdown, gas prices, and mortgage issues--items that punch people right in the gut, and people really worry about recession. In the period the author cites (June-Sep 2000), the Dow was steady, real estate prices were rising, gas prices were level, and mortages were easy to get. Bad comparison. Nice headline-grabber though. Recession to most Americans means: things are going bad with my money.(I know it means something different to economists.) That's what's been going on in the last few months that wasn't happening in 2000, so people are worried.

Protein Supplements - do you use them?
John Adams replied to rockpile's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I drink a protein supplement about every other day. Probably wouldn't if I wasn't a vegetarian. I don't think you really need the extra protein. My shake is just the powder, frozen strawberries, a banana, and OJ. Blend. Straightforward, simple, and good. -
Syesha is a borefest week in and out. Her vocals are good but not good enough to overcome her lack of charisma (different from the fact that she's beautiful, which she is). I understand why you don't like Carly but she's got more talent than most of the people left on the show. Don't worry--she won't win.

I live in a TiVO world brother. Just watched it last night. Ramiele sucks. She got voted out. BFD.

Dolly Parton week? Had the makings of disaster but who knew she wrote so many songs (and performed others). I found her hard not to like. Ramiele- Is this another Sanjeya joke? She. Is. The. Worst. If a 2 foot tall untalented Asian woman can survive Dolly Parton week (YEEHAW), I'm out. Michael Johns- I had this guy all but written off to mediocrity a few weeks ago. But he came on strong with that bluesy tune. Maybe he has some talent. One of the top 2 performances of the week. Kristy Cook- She'll probably live another week because Ramiele was so awful, but that song? "My momma made me a rag coat and I called it my rainbow coat?" Oh my aching head. Here's my version: "Kristy Cook shouldn't have sold her horse to get on American Idol because she sucks." Seyisha Mercado- It's at least her 2nd Whitney song and maybe her 3rd. Get over it. You ain't Whitney. So damn dull. Could be gone this week. David Archuletta- Kid's got a good voice. I wanna slap whoever is telling this prepackaged jerkoff to look at the camera every 10 seconds and squint. I hear he's going to be in High School Musical 4 as Troy Bolton's boy-love. David Cook. He's got chops. Arranged his own song and it was a ballady type. Still the best overall performer. Neck and neck with Michael Johns for performance of the week. Brooke White. What can I say? I like the song Jolene and thought she did a good job as a country singer. The way she takes criticism makes me really uncomfortable. Someone needs to talk to her about her reactions to the judges. Paula was right though: "[she]. Is. Brooke. White." Carly Smithson. Bad clothing aside (uncomfortable moment when Simon pointed that out), she has the best pure voice of anyone. Just a notch below the two guys this week. Hard to dance and move when you're belting out a song like that. Jason. Pfffft. Heh. Heh. Heh. Du u u u de. Pass the spliff man. Heh heh heh. He must have taken one less hit this week as he was a little more upbeat than normal. Still can't sing that well. Overall top 3 1 David Cooke 2 Carly Smithson 3 Michael Johns (knock White from the top 3) Bottom 3 9 Ramiele 8 Kristy Cook 7 Seyisha
