Keep the cynicism going--it's a bad trait most lawyers share. Our 1st year "grunt" associates start at a short notch below the top number in the current Philly/NY market with fully paid medical and get 1/2 of their billable rate (225/hr) for every billable (not "billed") over 1800. 100% 401K match up to 4% and profit sharing (never been less than 10K/year). Car allowance of 500/month after 2 years. Cell phone (with data) and laptop fully paid for of course. Also non-discretionary bonus (usually between 5-20K/year). There are places where you can make a lot of money and not be a slave. Most lawyers aren't willing to look for them or don't believe they exist. -

That's nice. We have a firm committed to lifestyle and there are more of them every day. Who needs the kind of firm with high divorce, drug use, depression, suicides? She'll find a good place to work if that's what she wants. -

So one of the best players in NBA history didn't jump over a moving car to advertise his new sneakers? I needed a youtube video to tell me that. Next you'll tell me that Larry Bird didn't make a shot off the rafters in those McDonald's PIG commercials. -

Temple lawyers are the best. And let this be a lesson to all you who have so enjoyed Bill and my bitter battle over the years. Our kids made us be friends and laugh at all the ill will. Glad to see this post on the board finally. She'll make dad proud and Temple Law is a great school with a brand new (but well-known around Temple for the last 20 years) dean: Joanne Epps. Your daughter will be fortunate to enter the school with Dean Epps in charge. -
Let them eat cake? Ethanol has been a crock of a boodoggle from jump. The best use of corn (after pop- and on-the-cob) was well explored in that Omnivore's Dilemna book that gave the etymology of cornhole.

Barack Obama hates Pennsylvanians

That's what I'm saying. That one oddity leads me to believe that he didn't mean this to be as insulting as it came out. Doesn't matter much to me. I'm not voting for him. -

And I'd want the people who die jumping over moving cars to live, why? -

Is small town America largely: (1) pro-gun (2) anti-free trade (3) religious? And I've heard plenty of white politicians make generalizations about the "plight of the inner city" (read: blacks). Whenever someone tries to paint with too broad a brush, they piss some people off. -

Hmm. He and Hill are anti-free trade so is he bitter too? I really see this as less of an issue than it's made out to be. -
They are all off this week.

He said something like bitter people often cling to guns and religion, right? (Not sure anyone has the exact quote--seems like the two articles I read were paraphrasing.) -

I see McCain as less of "em" than others. If I vote for McCain, it will be the second time I've ever voted for a major party candidate in a pres election. The point being that the party I agree with the most--Libertarians--are obnoxiously unrealistic in their plans. I can't stomach them at times, and this is one of those times. So I lean towards McCain. -

He has a record. I like that. I haven't see his budget proposal. Nor have you. Vote for who you want. No candidate is perfect. That's human nature. -

I am wondering if that's the way the bill is worded. His immigration stance is not exactly aligned with mine. But I'm not as hard-lined as others. Immigration, like abortion (and space exploration on his "issues page), is not one of my hot buttons this time around. -
That's crazytalk. He's a good singer. He'll be nice in a Doors cover band or something like that. Not enough juice to carry a real band.

I just wish the Conservative movement (small gov't, lower taxes, less gov't intervention) was strong enough that it didn't need to be bedfellows with the religious Right. The religious big-motherment side of the Reps that legislates morality is frankly a lot scarier to me than the Dem version of motherment that spends us into oblivion in social welfare programs. I am leaning McCain at this point. I like him better than Bush, Bush, Kerry, or Gore. He's the only candidate who's a free trader. Check. He's the best of all 3 for saying no to special interests. Check. He (reluctantly) wants to keep the Bush tax cuts. Check. He wants to stay in Iraq forever if necessary. Big Uncheck. John McCain. Not perfect, but palatable. (He can feel free to use that line if he wants.) -
People didn't vote for Daughtry. They vote for people they think are in trouble that they like and sometimes ignore a good contestant who has a so-so night. Johns didn't deserve to go at all. They should change the system to tell people to vote for the person they want off the show. That would get rid of weaker people faster.
-
No way. He's not as talented as Daughtry.
-
Judges influenced the voting too much I think. Michael Johns was NOT anywhere near the worst singer the other night but he went first and got a bad review. I have a friend who thinks people should vote for the worst performance and that would give a better reflection of the way people feel.

Teddy said, several times during Artie's tirade, that he just wanted to leave and talk about the issue later. He knew Artie was out of control today.
-
Right. He's egged on 10000 fights in 20 years and this is the first time a show-regular got violent. It's great radio but people in every environment need to know where the line is. Artie went from yelling and angry (even cracking jokes while he's yelling) to completely insane in about 1 second. Hard to blame Howard for that--especially since Howard has been doing EXACTLY this same thing for his entire career. Howard loves the verbal fighting, ie, it's good radio. Howard doesn't want violence.
-
No chance. He's a part of the past. Artie showed what a real comic in that seat brings. Fitzsimmons, Levy, others would be good. They'll probably do another round of auditions like they did with Artie. Really makes me sad. Artie's a hard guy not to like but when out of control moves to violence, it's over. Maybe he can turn himself around, but he may never have this kind of success again.

Had to find them for my wife. She was pissed that she couldn't hear them on the replay.
