I am asking about the would-be and likely next pres's plans for a national tax, not some vp loser's state taxes. Stop being so knee-jerk partisan. I'm not with Palin so Palin is irrelevant. I want to hear Obama's great plan.

The Dems/Obama will come up with a definition of windfall profits that taxes almost any profitable corporation except in industries that peddle enough influence to be exceptions.

I think Palin will drop out after some particularly vicious attack, which will give McCain an out. The choice looks worse and worse. If she goes out after a cheap shot, McCain gets some credit for picking her and can turn her dropping out against her attackers. If he keeps her, it's bad news for McCain--this is turning into a feeding frenzy.

Even though JK is a 1 trick pony, he pales in comparison to Molson. And on the issue of McCain in freefall over the Palin pick, JK's right. McCain went out on a limb and it's not going to pay off. This is turning into a nightmare. I smell her waiting for a particularly vicious media attack and then withdrawing her name for VP. That gets her out of the race and turns the knife on the liberal attackers.

He said he'd fund many of his new programs with this windfall profits tax on "big oil." With the price of oil in free fall over the last few months and no end in sight, what does that do to his plan to pay for all his promises. Will he be cutting back on all the big plans? I really haven't heard lately.

I already pay for the WSJ online. I would pay for the NYTimes if it wasn't free. Maybe the Philly Inquirer too. I wouldn't pay for anything else. I believe people would pay for news online if the delivery method was better. I pay for the WSJ online but I much prefer reading it in paper. (Still, I've made the environmental choice to read it online.) I don't have an answer on better layouts but the NYTimes, to me, has the best website.
