KO and punt returns are different. Maybe he has bad hands when people are bearing down on him.

Barr Campaign Statement on Texas Supreme Court Ruling
John Adams replied to EC-Bills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You have no idea what you're talking about. -
Did you get your foresight from Revelations or common sense? I heard Ron Paul talking about the bailout and making some sense. Oddly, the show discussing his commentary was the Bubba the Love Sponge show. Anyway, Paul is furious over the bailout and thinks it's stupid to do it (I disagree). But then he went on to say what I've seen Forbes and other WSJ commentators saying: the next administration needs to strengthen the dollar. That will be a challenge after we print 700 billion new dollars.

Dear Senator John McCain
John Adams replied to PearlHowardman's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You are on to something. It's challenging to debate a 6 year old. You can easily win but you look bad doing so. -
Let's see. The CNN poll says they had more Dem participants than Rep or Indy participants. And the Dem won! God save our schools.

Thanks for your objective analysis. McCain can't look at people because of torture? Stop it already. He didn't look at Obama because that's what someone told him to do. It made him look like an aloof cranky old man (which he is), and certainly not the consensus builder he says that he is. The only points he scored on with me were economy. Cut government vs. Obama's grow government: that difference was crystal clear. Obama is unapologetic about his desire to grow the government. Imagine once he gets into power.

Dear Senator John McCain
John Adams replied to PearlHowardman's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You lost me when you started knocking his VP. Do you really want to compare VP choices? I expect Biden to STEAMROLL Palin in the debates, if she doesn't catch a cold and miss them. -
Also, like WaMu, don't expect them to fold up. They'll get snatched up by one of the monsters. Wachovia has had problems for a while. The WSJ ran at least 2 stories this year about how badly they've been managed by their bigger-than-life CEO, who wanted to merge-and-acquire them into Bank of America status. Looks like that plan didn't work.

I like the graph more than the "debate." McCain is punching harder but Obama is more likable (no surprise). On issues, McCain is making way too much sense on the economy. On the issue of cutting spending Obama only talked about what programs he would create and expand. Priceless. McCain at least was brave enough to give some examples.

I'm not religious but you can pray for me and my kids. I like being worshiped.

He's too funny on 30 Rock. I'll give him a pass.

You sound like Jefferson. We need some blood to fertilize the field? I just want to pick who gets to bleed.

Stop parroting Rush (bringing up Acorn, I'm sure, is straight from him) and think (or give it a shot): Your question was answered. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?s=&am...t&p=1146381

Don't you think it would be bad, in terms of this being in some part a crisis of confidence, if the bill passes with the Dems and the Repubs started crying like Dwight Drane that the sky is going to fall? Do you think that kind of thing will restore or undermine confidence in the market? The lack of bipartisanship will not help matters. Sometimes it's more important to stand shoulder to shoulder. How the Republicans don't see this is beyond me. Turning it into a political prank is !@#$ing us all, but them even worse.
-
The more objective accounts cite the Repubs as starting a rumble and McCain saying little more than that he stood behind the principles of his party. McCain lost on this stunt big time.

I'm only kinda on board with DC Tom. The problem for me is that it sets a tough precedent if spending 700 billion doesn't have enough oversight. I like that there are more strings tied to the second 500 billion than the first 200. I wonder why they don't just release the 200 billion now with the conditions already on it and continue to then fight over the remaining 500 and the additional conditions on that money. That would inject a lot of money to get over the immediate issues and get the rest of the money out in the next few weeks. All this wrangling is just so everyone can say, "We did it and the other guy stood in our way." And then if it gets screwed up, "See, if they had just listened to us, we wouldn't be in this mess." As for who's scoring points right now in the pres. race, I think McCain looks like a complete tool. I'm skipping the debate to be a Senator and bring us all together. Whups. I'm in DC but can't bring the parties together. Whups, let's have that debate now. Looks like an impulsive-acting guy who can't get people to the table at all. Meanwhile, the Congressional Dems are working with Bush (!) to get the deal done and Obama has been steady.

Willow Grove PA Bills Backers
John Adams replied to WellDressed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
According to Ken, still at Calloways. HAven't been there this year but am a likely attendee this week. It's the Philadelphia Bills Backers that you're talking about that meet at Calloways in Huntington Valley. There's a Downtown Philly BB that meets at IBP. -
It's on eBay.

McCain suspending his campaign
John Adams replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Letterman had a good take on McCain's cancellation. Olbermann gets ignored but it's good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Std7W74RlTg -
Government can MAKE money with the bailout
John Adams replied to JimBob2232's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The more important and likely point is that the government won't MAKE money, but the government won't lose 700 billion either. Once it spins off the loans, it will get paid for them. How much it loses on this deal remains to be seen but it won't be 700 billion unless the underlying properties go to zero value. If that happens, Dwight Drane will be here to tell us all he told us so.
