Jim Cramer advises investors to pull out...
John Adams replied to elegantelliotoffen's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
And there's this mark-to-market issue lurking as well. That has accelerated the plunge. -
Come on man. 14 years ago, the Dow was at 3,700 or so. Get a grip on the facts. http://finance.google.com/finance?client=o...;q=INDEXDJX:DJI But hey, keep fanning the panic. The 700B bailout hasn't done anything yet. It will relieve a credit crunch. It will take a long time for credit relief to be reflected in the market. The two are related but there are many things that will influence a market comeback. Not the least of which is when all the people who have pulled their money out of the market in the last year start pouring it back in.

Well the $700+B bailout is working well so far

I am sure Congress will be all up the ass of these bonuses while ignoring the bigger issue. Just a guess. -
When Obama gets his windfall profit tax,* the prices will go back up. *Defined by DC Tom as a tax on all profits.

Jim Cramer advises investors to pull out...

He was talking about the stock market and noted specifically that the bailout plan needs to start going into affect V fast to ease the credit crunch. -
Will al-Quida Influence The Election?

Quid will definitely influence the election. -

Was just listening to some talking head speculating that it takes about 6-9 months for a big cash injection to be reflected in the market. I'm no econ expert but the guy sounded British so I assume he's credible. -

There's a lot of cash now out of the market...gotta go somewhere eventually and it's likely destination? Back into the market! Also, that pretty bill passed last week is going to take a little while to make a difference. To date, no bad loans are off the street. -

If you have $X in the market and you need $X within the next 5 years to pay some bill, pull out of the market. No sh-- Sherlock. That's true in any market. Markets fluctuate. If you keep your money in it long term, you'll be well off. If you need the money short-term, it shouldn't be in the market. If it is, don't come whining to daddy about it. I am down some 25+% since last October's Dow high. Meh. I'd rather be up but I can live. And I'm still buying. I'm not retiring for 30 years so the hits now are not a huge deal. -
A Look at Wall Street's Shadow Market
John Adams replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
GG mentioned it and it's been in the financial periodicals. I'm no economist (but I stayed at a Holiday Inn express last night!) but it's clear the CDSes are also part of the problem. We're all going to take more medicine before this turns around. -
Much more interested in a successor to Kent Hull.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only guy worth a sh-- is Peters and he's not playing that well. Except for Seattle who never blitzed, teams are crushing this line. The Bills look like they are up against the Steel Curtain and Purple People Eaters every week. Teams don't respect the running game at all so they just attack the QB. TE is good at finding the hot read so he's made plays but he's been getting hammered every week. I rewatched the sack that came from the right/left (the QB blindside, ie, Peters's side--I didn't have the benefit of TiVo when it first happened.) Peters drives his guy into the center of the line and one of the interior lineman comes around the left tackle spot where Peters was. It may have been a stunt but I think it was just a jumble of bodies and the Dlineman made a smart play. Not Peters fault. The play is at about 2:25 of the below vid if you are sadist enough to want to watch any of this game again. http://www.nfl.com/videos?categoryId=highlights -

I'm not positive but I don't think that's what I said. But you did quote my post so read it again and maybe you can make a more insightful comment. The D sucked. So did Losman. This thread's about the later. If you think Losman looked great, I'd love to hear it.

The only reason his head was under Edwards chin was because Edwards is tall. I didn't think it was dirty. Just hard.

The bigger issue RE JP is that he didn't look a lot better than he ever looked. He had one nice drive and one fortunate heave. And what's worse, insted of rally around the backup like most teams do, they gave up around the backup. JP didn't lose the game; he was just a factor in it. And for most of even the most ardent JP-lovers, this is a nail in the coffin. (As if Jax last year wasn't.)

A Few Thoughts About The Game
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean the play where he saw the blitzer and threw for a completion directly where he came from? You mean that play where he threw the perfectly placed ball because he saw the untouched guy coming? You mean that play? Hahahahaha. Thanks for the cheering up maroon. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough. I didn't have TiVo. His pass protection looked better today but I don't remember him once making it to the LBs on a run block. He was pretty much locking up with lineman and not getting free of them. Again, not entirely his fault--no one else seemed to be doing better. The only time I remember an OL downfield was when Fowler was leading Evans on the reverse, and that was a trick play. -
Maybe. Ball control would have been better. Defense would not have been on the field as much. Fewer turnovers and sacks. The team plays hard for Edwards. Not for JP.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peters kept the streak alive Bill. 4 games, 5 sacks. Despite relatively solid pass protection, I didn't see him do all that much when they ran left. That said, nether did Butler, Fowler, Dockery, etc. on any run play. The run blocking has been piss poor this season. That's why the QBs are getting hammered. No one even cares about the Bills ability to run the ball anymore. BTW, I think Jackson hits the hole better than Marshawn. I love Beast Mode but he eyes the big play a bit much. I hope the coaches work with him on this. He needs to pop inside and grab 4 yards instead of looking for the outside so much. McGahee got into that habit when he was here and they never broke him of it. -
What we know about the Bills going into the bye week
