  1. I own my business. If it fails, 110 people lose their jobs (and so do I). Guess who won't rescue me if I make a dumb decision. You. That's how it should be. And guess who doesn't get paid when cash is tight. Guess who gets paid more when more cash flows in. That's risk/reward and also how it should be.
  2. Yeah. My Lexus is nearly identical to the Lincoln Town Car. HAHAHAHA.
  3. There's not a GM or Chrysler that I'd buy. Maybe a Cadillac Escalade (that big tank MOFO) if I was in a Tony Soprano mood. The Ford lineup has at least 5 options I'd consider. I might end up choosing a Toyota but I'd at least consider some Fords and Lincolns. The next time I buy, I'll visit Ford, Toyota, and Honda.
  4. If it has to keep going, sure. Why supplement two failing institutions? On top of that, if it's just about giving people money, let's just write the checks directly to them and cut out the middleman.
  5. On top of this, pull a Consumer Reports and you'll see that Fords are the only cars with reviews that rival Toyota and Honda. Go figure. Better product. Better deals. Not on the brink. (Not that they don't mind getting the free government cheese if it's coming. I heard Tesla wants in too. Who can blame them? They are making the greenest cars on earth.)
  6. No. College means little in most professions.
  7. So far, the retail news was better than expected and it just shows that the world doesn't revolve around Detroit. (The real fun comes from 3-4pm though.) Who to blame for this mess? The UAW. Management. I don't blame one at the exclusion of the other. Both proved inept. For GM and Chrysler, the bankruptcy is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. No one will buy a GM car because they are so fcked. If no one buys, the hole gets that much deeper. I say give 'em enough money for 3-6 months and if they don't show marked signs of restructuring by then, off to bankruptcy. In 3-6 months, they can spin down and off some dead weight. The longer it waits to restructure deals, the more the burden is on the taxpayer. Screw that. By giving just enough to get through a few months, the onus is on GM to work this out faster.
  8. The FU UAW is that they are not willing to negotiate until 2010. FU.
  9. I continue to be torn on this. I have no faith in 2 of the big 3 but worry that letting them fail immediately would be very bad. I like the idea of making them squirm for every penny and forcing them to a faster restructuring (FU UAW) rather than giving them tons of time.
  10. Call him anyways. Don't bother with his lawyer. Tortured Soul summed up your rights but they don't mean much. You'll never hire a lawyer. If he doesn't cave and you want your pound of flesh, go to small claims court, but you will need his name and addy.
  11. Or look at it this way: if not for 3 4th quarter comebacks early on against lousy teams (Rams, Raiders, Jags), the team is 3-10 and we're marching RWS with pitchforks. To answer Bill's question, I agree. I know I haven't been this frustrated in a long time. For me, it's that I really thought this team could make a run at the playoffs for the first time in a really long time. Then, in the last 2 weeks in particular, against only "OK" teams, at home(ish), the Bills played heartless. That's upsetting. Also upsetting to admit that this team is further away than we all thought. Jets are much better. Dophins too. Next year Pats get Brady back. The Bills? They'll get some FAs to fill holes and won't be much different. Ugh.
  12. Unbelievable. Do you sell that crap to your kids? He's a woman beater and woman killer. That you and the team pay tribute to any of his accomplishments is a disgrace.
  13. Frankly, I thought my line about Jason Peters's catlike quickness to a fumbled ball was better but I'll take it.
  14. What? Every time someone gets screwed in a bankruptcy is someone responsible for the workers? Do you understand that one of the fundamental bases for our business culture is risk? There's a risk that people go out of business. A risk that the people who sold that company goods won't get paid. A risk that people who ordered products from that company won't get delivery (or their money back). And on and on. There's no such thing as the "someone to help the workers" fairy. My business is having a tighter end of the year. Usually we give huge bonuses. This year they will likely be less. It's a bummer. It's a fact. The fairy won't rescue my employees if they were counting on the big bonus and it won't put money in my pocket to give the traditionally big bonus. Facts are stubborn things. Don't be so naive.
  15. They are the target of the next windfall profit tax.* As defined by you.
  16. Cash is tight at year end at my business. Who can I sue?
  17. If only that was just a joke. A pox on you.
  18. That should be the Bills top priority!
  19. Why are you so down on Holcomb? He never looked this bad. Jauron will have a nice rich retirement after this season.
  20. And on to the draft and hopefully coach-firing. This time I'm really gone.
  21. I have no smart alec answer. Maybe Tom can help out.
  22. How many incomplete bombs from JP on this possession. I predict at least 2.
  23. The price is going down with every play. I may buy them.
  24. Correction: We should draft one of those who can play. I actually prefer one in free agency.
