Oil companies next in line for a bailout
John Adams replied to VABills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Oil companies will get bailout money to help them pay their windfall taxes. -
The guy has 100 posts a day and now he's afraid to pop out of his hole. He's not a man.
-
No. You're a man. Molson is afraid to confront me. See how he isn't responding? He's afraid to attack me.
-
Always exciting when the only person amused is yourself. Another definition for this is jerking off.

Lengthening the school year (and day) would be just about the best thing we could do for schools. Imagine the teachers' reaction to that. God forbid we actually do something that has been proven beyond any doubt to actually work.

Aww, poor Tenne feels left out of the PPP club. -
That's what I thought. Come back in a few weeks with a few more predictions after the fact.

See: he responded to you every 3 minutes. He won't have the balls to respond to me because he knows I own him. He does that to you because you're not as much of a man as me. I'm not insulting you. Just stating a fact.
-
Give us your predictions in advance boy wonder.

You're a message board coward. You'll attack a weakling like ACor but won't dare attack me.

Since when do we have this "weak interior line"
John Adams replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What he said. Just because Preston isn't getting pushed into the QB's face doesn't mean he's good. The line needs a real Center and at least competition at the guard spot. Someone needs to motivate Dockery because he can't run block for sh--. Walker is fine. I can live with Butler. Peters is good for 3 screwups a game but is the most talented of 'em all. Going into the off-season, the Bills need to look at any interior lineman who's available. I predict they will get a decent center and move Preston to one of the guard spots in place of Dockery or Butler--or let the 3 of them Darwin it out in training camp. -
Because no one wants to take a wild guess for the sake of your stupid thread, we get an FU? Dwight Drane is the board prognosticator; get his read on things.

Cutting the funds rate again...?
John Adams replied to blzrul's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yup. A twofer; savings rates are up, which again is probably a good thing in the long run (Assuming people keep saving) but it's a B word to a struggling economy. -
Cutting the funds rate again...?

Right. Banks are going to be a LOT more cautious. And that's a good thing in the long run but a rough adjustment in the next few years. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
John Adams replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you read his posts even? He is only in heaven because he likes (most) Bills fan. Like every one of us, this season is more tortuous than any in recent memory. I'm sure Bill would have loved nothing more than a huge helping of crow and for JP to lead the Bills to the playoffs. I think nothing of Hardy. If he plays like Randy Moss next year, I will take every "I told you so" post and 20 kicks in the balls with a grin on my face. Please let us all have our bits of dark happiness when we're right about (another) Bill sucking. It's about all we have. -
Article: 7 Myths about Detroit's Big 3
John Adams replied to stuckincincy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Are you really that dense? (Yes, I know you are.) I bought my first Japanese car in 1995--a 5 year old Honda. This, after seeing my father struggle with a lifetime of the "buy America" thing that I did for a while too. Since then--for 13 years--my wife and I have only bought Japanese cars. Why? Because I have never had a problem. Your challenge in this and another thread: "Go out and buy American because" I need a change and American cars are better than they used to be falls on deaf ears. If I have had no problems and am happy, why would I change? Just for change's sake? What a moronic consumer I'd be to do that. Toyota and Honda got me loyal to their brands by making GREAT cars. GM and Ford lost my loyalty--that was ingrained in me--by making sh------- cars. What the hell is my incentive to return to the American brands? I've never had a problem with the Japanese cars. Ever. Every consumer and objective review of cars ranks them at the top. (Ford has improved too but again, why would I take the chance?) As to what is on the road, I don't understand your point. I see lots of cars on the roads of many makes and models. I can't stop people from buying VWs that are notoriously unreliable. And I can't stop suburban moms from buying 4 wheel drive monster trucks they don't need. -

Cool. 7 myths. Is it a fact that 2 should be out of business because they suck? -

The problem with the 15 billion is that it removes the incentive to change NOW. The longer GM and Chrysler dick around with changing (like cutting 50% of their dealerships), the less likely they will get a buying customer. Who wants to buy a car from a company that's going out of business? By doling out money in a small amount and making it harder to get, they will rush to change. Of course, a nice solution is a fast bankruptcy but that could end it all for the bankrupt company. No one will buy a car from a bankrupt company unless it shows signs that it can turn around and I don't think any American has faith in GM or Chrysler at this point...which is EXACTLY why we shouldn't give them money. I am against any long-term bailout. Giving them more than will get them through about February would be a crime. -

Let's see. I found a low-priced car that has had no problems and I bought 3 in a row...and you pound your head against the wall because of that? So what should I do? Buy cars that might have problems instead of being a brand loyalist to a brand I've never had problems with? And YOU have the nerve to rail about the stupidity of the American consumer? -

The UAW: Quality is gag 1. There is more to it than design. I've bought 3 Accords because I liked the design, to be sure, but I also bought it because it is reliable. -

I test drove the Cadillac and actually liked it didn't have "it" for me. When I'm spending that kind of scratch, things better be close to perfect. I hated the sight lines mostly. I like the car a lot. I think I test drove an STS. The Lexus ES is a suped up Camry (or as the Audi saleman told me, "It's a Camry with a leather interior.") As you said, styling sells. I got a vehicle allowance through my work that (at the time) I had to use or lose. I chose to "use" it and shopped for the style and type of car I wanted. I test drove a lot of cars in the Lexus/Caddy vein and liked the Lexus the best. It wasn't the sportiest ride by far but I liked the interior, lines, and comfortable (almost like an older big American car) ride. So that's where I landed. Now my vehicle allowance is just cash so I probably won't buy another luxury car because I'd rather have the cash. When it comes time to buy my next car, I'll shop around in the large sedan category and rule out nothing. -

The repairs issue may well be true. I haven't repaired a car in 10 years (nor have I needed to because I buy Japanese cars!). I used to be under the hood of all the crap cars I owned. Back then, my Caprice Classic was by far the easiest to repair and VW Rabbit was the worst but that was mostly because (1) there was no room in the engine compartment and (b) it was a piece of sh--.
