  1. Milano's is my favorite because they did something that not enough people do: They crisp up their thickly slices pepperoni before baking the pie.
  2. Despite the records, Preston was better than Fowler. And they both sucked.
  3. Eastwood is making some great movies late in life.
  4. It's not funny but I don't care about the song. It's just beyond idiocy for a politician to circulate it!
  5. I had less trouble with Palin's Troopergate controversy than her Braingate issue.
  6. JAckson is not exactly a brain surgeon. Not only did he do this on MNF http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIWWrdDNBRU...feature=related he also made a similar blunder in college: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvMgJMLD90A...feature=related
  7. The Palin problem was less the choice than the insult of keeping her once he found out what a complete and utter embarrassment she was. This is exactly like the Palin choice (minus the importance of the position: VP vs. Commerce Secy) except that in this case, Obama is dumping Richardson.
  8. Did you read the part about how Obama forced him to withdraw his name? Obama is making sure his house is clean; thanks for pointing out the contrast with the current Admin.
  9. I couldn't even make a comment on local TV news. I have lived in Philly for 14 years and can't say I've ever watched a local newscast. Once in a while I stop on the news because a guy I play basketball with is a local TV sports guy but that's the only thing that gets me.
  10. A lot of differences. The Bills were cruising in the running game. The Bills QB is a turnover machine, esp on the run. The Bills line is not that good. The Bills were playing a backup QB. The Bills WRs are not great...did I miss much? For the Colts, they have a HOF QB. They have an unreal line. Their running game sucks. They have at least 1 HOF WR and maybe 2, with some other WRs that are pretty damn good. Dungy made the right call; Jauron did not. Dungy has been in the playoffs for 10 straight years; Jauron went to the playoffs once.
  11. I agree regarding the media--a bit. My point is that this current washout of the media is not one that we could have predicted 20 years ago. People could have predicted that the media would have trouble, especially at the local level, but no one could have predicted the success and often worthwhile content of blogosphere. The blog-reporter won't replace the media-reporter (with a boss and editor) but if you can predict where this is headed, you're better than me. Media is in a transition period right now--the bloggers won't fill the void alone and traditional print business methods will never make as much money as they once did. There's still a void that some enterprising people should be able to fill well.
  12. Manning is one of the best ever and doesn't get hit often. To get 2 yards, he's a better bet than Addai, who did not have a good year. I like the call; it just didn't work.
  13. Hey you kids: Get offa my lawn. Where are the classics like Roller Boogie. Don't blame Hollywood for your son's awful taste.
  14. Warner is a stud. He reminds me of Warren Moon. He throws an unbelievably catchable ball.
  15. Responding to UConn James. You sound like Dwight Drane. Literacy rates have largely been unchanged in the last 40 years despite the occasional doom and gloom studies. The Internet has fueled a whole new trend in literacy because people want what it's giving and the only way to Interact with the Web is to read it. In fact, most people would sooner give up their TVs than their Internet connection and with the Internet so young, it's not easy to see where it will head. The demise of local news (and all of its prejudices and awful biases) is giving way to something different: a people-driven news-reporting. Not one of those books ever predicted that the demise of local media would give way to a media that is more democratic than could ever be imagined. Where this heads is anyone's guess but it's something I never read about. Regarding the "Paris Hilton"-ification of people, that's been around forever. People have always loved and gossiped about celebrities. The last 20 years are no different: There are just more outlets for the gossip now (cable TV).
  16. Peters to the Pro Bowl is a joke but getting rid of him is a terrible idea. He's the best lineman on the team and O-lines get better the longer they play together. Given that, I'd only want to get rid of 2 lineman (or at least drop them to backups): Dockery and Preston/Fowler. I could live with Butler, Peters, and Walker + 2 new faces.
  17. Right on target. I was just greasing a wingnut; I've been with my wife for 20 years and plan on being with her for another 40.
  18. Do your parents know you're on their computer?
  19. Aww, you're obsessed with us both? A switch hitter?
  20. That's because this Summer proved that we can live with it.
  21. I'm neither BiB nor his Ghost not his Ghost's ghost.
  22. You can't imagine the fun we've had in her Benz.
  23. Yeah, but you're not this politically naive either. Once the president sends 130K troops overseas, he's got the upper hand on funding them. Refusing to fund those troops when the president has no intention of withdrawing them is not a realistic option.
  24. I judge presidents by what they do in their time. Lincoln is great because he navigated the Civil War--he may not have been anywhere near as successful as a peacetime president. On the flip side, Bush is one of the worst presidents because he was given a country with a strong economy, reasonably responsible budget (headed in the right direction), a bad but not-as-bad-as-he-made-it debt, respect for civil liberties, good international reputation. and on and on (stem cells)--and drove those into the ground while getting involved in an unwinnable war or 2. In short, over an 8 year period, he drove a thriving US into the shitter. As with all things presidential, maybe he's not all to blame for the current state of the US. But that's not how it works. We've had lots of other bad presidencies. Not many were worse than Bush's.
