  1. I was wrong. He's second in sacks taken, 4th in INTs thrown, just about bottom 10 worst in completion %.... He's middle of the pack in all other stats. Rothlisberger is a good QB. I like him. If I was a Steeler fan, I'd have no complaints. But it's amazing what the #1 defense will do for your credibility when your numbers aren't that good. If Big Ben played for Buffalo, he'd have been run out of town a long time ago.
  2. Ben is not a top ten QB in any QB stat. Why he's good: #1 defense. If the Bills had picked him, maybe they have 1 playoff appearance in 5 years but they wouldn't be the Steelers. Big Ben is not Joe Montana or John Elway.
  3. Which is what he had in St Louis too. In NY, he looked pedestrian.
  4. "with the best WR in the NFL and a stud #2 WR."
  5. Edwards' weakness wasn't how he reacted to pressure; it was his play against the 3 man rush.
  6. http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/ These are the final 10 episodes although there are rumors of a prequel in the making.
  7. "Tard" as an insult seems to be catching. When one tard (Rkfast, Boomer) calls another person (blzrul) a tard, does it mean you're all one and the same tard brethren?
  8. What he said. Get your bird in the hand. Do a good job and worry about negotiating next year when you have leverage and know the politics of the place.
  9. But you have a limit, do you not, on using fossil fuels? Things would be a lot cheaper and more efficient if there were less filtering/cleaning on power plants and engines. Of course, we'd be back to coating the world in inches of soot and more acid rain, but in the interests of efficiency, things would be more efficient. You'd concede the need for restrictions on FFs in the interest of controlling pollutants right? Although you claim to be in agreement with the interests of businesses, you are not because for reasons not economic at all, many businesses have adopted green strategies. The simplest and most widespread example of businesses doing a small green program is recycling. It takes a little more work but it's just the right thing to do. Businesses don't get paid to do it. In most places, there's no requirement to recycle. And yet they recycle. The conclusion to use alternate energy (including nuclear) follow from these premises that I think you'd agree with: (1) Cleaner less-polluting energy sources are better for us all than dirtier polluting ones. (2) Sending hundreds of billions of dollars to the middle east and Russia is not in our national best interest. (3) Fossil fuel resources are limited and certain fossil fuels are more limited in supply than others. I would add a 4th premise that I'm not sure you'd agree with: (4) I'm willing to pay a little more for energy (not in taxes but in the form of cost at the pump/light switch) to follow the premises in 1-3.
  10. The trick of this is that whether or not you think burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming, there's not a reasonable position that says burning more fossil fuels is a good idea. It's a massive pollutant from how it's pulled from the ground to how it's shipped to how it's processed to how it's stored to how it's burned to how all the byproducts are disposed of. On that basis alone, the less we rely on fossil fuels, the better. Other arguments in favor of deleveraging from FFs: it's a limited supply and it ships money to troubling countries. So set aside the global warming reason--there are other reasons to be against burning FFs.
  11. BULLY UP A TREE "Davey and Goliath get into a fight with a bully and his dog, but later seeing the boy in trouble, Davey forgives him."
  12. That's happening all over the place. Welcome aboard.
  13. Global warming is happening. Whether it's man-made is unclear although we're certainly contributing to it (how much is up for debate). Moreover, burning less fossil fuels seems like a good idea no matter what it's contribution to global warming. What's happening in the oceans is a huge concern. fishkills, dead zones, species being wiped out, rise of jellyfish: lots of bad news.
  14. What is the role of government in this situation? Is it supposed to guarantee a 4 BR colonial for flood victims? OR is supposed to cloth, provide medical support, and feed people until they get their own feet under themselves? If anything, it's the later--and if people can't get their feet under themselves, that's where the complainers lie. Imagine if you had been washed out as a result of Katrina. Would you be living jobless in a government trailer 8 months later? I don't have compassion for (most of the) people who are still getting help as a result of Katrina and can't help themselves.
  15. The US government kept 99.99% of people alive and fed and relocated them. That's pretty impressive and it's not like people were living in a tent city.
  16. 4 out of 20,000 people died at the convention center. In an unprecedented national emergency. Again, that's an amazing response and rescue by the US government. I could not be more proud of the way that rescue went.
  17. Knowing it's coming is a lot different than knowing levees would bust and flood an entire city. It took 2-3 days to get services to most of the willing evacuees. That's frankly amazing given the devastation.
  18. To blame him for Katrina is the galling part. It took 2 days to get food and supplies to people spread over an entire coastline in an unprecedented disaster. Tens of thousands of people were rescued in the first week. Hundreds of thousands were provided for and eventually moved. What else you could have REASONABLY expected him to do? Only in America could people B word about the extraordinary rescue that took place in response to that disaster.
  19. Dawkins singlehandedly took Adrian Peterson out of the Minnesota game. After that huge hit in the 1st series, Peterson was tentative. Name a Bills defender who changed a game like that in the last decade. The SB Bills had Leonard Smith "cheap-shotting" people from the safety position. What he did was hit hard and sometimes a little late. He drew flags and intimidated. Think anyone's afraid of the Bills safeties like that?
  20. Drew was QB behind one of the worst O-lines in Bills history combined with 1 good but not great WR in Moulds and not another person who could catch a pass (including stone hands Travis Henry). He'd have been better behind the current line. Drew was at the end of his career but the guy had an incredible arm.
  21. Eagles-Ravens SB would be a 3-0 defensive brawl.
  22. He sucks and as to his "talent," it's never shown itself in the NFL. He's a quitter and I have no interest. The Eagles think he's a joke and he is.
  23. What is a commercial? /tivo
  24. Obama has been banging the "we're doomed" drum far too much. At some point, a leader needs to STFU and start talking optimism. I hope that at some point he gets that, especially because some of the current economic doom is psychologically driven. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090105/ap_on_...mi8pfyt6dEEtbAF
  25. Blago's investigation at least includes a smoking gun tape. Even if he doesn't get indicted, he's a bad !@#$ing guy and should be run out of office.
