  1. Lots of crazy people in the world. She's one.
  2. Indeed, I do not like people who use the power of the government to oppress others. Homosexuals are one group being oppressed these days. Your rhetoric on point tends to show your POV. You judge people. I judge people. Maybe you're just waking up to the concept of a political message board. I accept people who believe in god, Satan, and the tooth fairy. It doesn't mean I vote for them or don't oppose them for political office. Romney is a man of faith who can argue logically for his positions without falling back on the bible or Satan for the basis for his moral authority most of the time. He's relatively rational minded despite me not agreeing with his view on all topics including gay marriage and rights. Santorum believes that Satan is a real plotting being he's battling with for !@#$s sake. So yes, I have a problem with his candidacy. You're not sure if there's a devil or not. Thank you.
  3. You avoided my question 3 times. Why? And don't say because it has nothing to do with the thread. First, that never stops anyone from hijacking. Second, this thread is about someone's who believes in the devil. I am asking if you do. It's not a complicated question.
  4. No. Do you believe in the devil?
  5. Your suspicions are wrong. Do you believe in the devil?
  6. "Most" are supposed to believe in an evil angel guy who runs around planning against god. Do you?
  7. Most Christians don't talk about the devil like he's waging a campaign, and many don't even believe in the devil. Santorum talks about the devil like he's a real dude whispering in people's ears. I will not back down on the sweater vest thing. Just because you and Jim wear sweater vests doesn't make Santorum--or you--sane.
  8. Not that this is your point, but 100/month won't get you far. In PA, Penn State costs 15,000/year and that's just tuition. Drop in 8K for room and board and you're talking about 80K for a state school undergraduate degree, which won't get you far unless you're an engineer.
  9. This is certainly part of the problem. I have an easy solution to this: more online classes for which you charge a lot less. Basically, recirculate lectures and pay the professors to grade and answer student emails. The undergrad classes I've taught could have been given for 300 or 30000 students and I only updated my lectures when needed. The only problem with the larger class is grading if the classes are written papers or problem solving (engineering).
  10. These resurfaced when Chris Christie (unoriginal parents) said these comments were fair game.
  11. $475,000? What the hell? I took out a lot in student loans and had 50K. At least I was an engineer with job prospects. The best thing about student loan debt: Can't be discharged in bankruptcy. One step in fixing: The debt amounts available (from the federal government--banks can do what they please) should be lowered substantially.
  12. "Maintain and modernize" means that they are going to do maintenance on the nukes...which means that they will blow the dust off.
  13. You can modernize and reduce. See manufacturing.
  14. People pick fights with big guys because they are big. It happens.
  15. Not true in the world at large and not true in a bar. The big huge country (and guy) is always a target.
  16. That's the funniest post ever. My thinking on this subject: Even at 20% of what we have, 1,000 seems like more than enough. Not to go all Jane Fonda...but I'll pass on a world where we're in such a spitstorm that it required us to detonate more than 1000 warheads. Nuclear deterrence is a load of spit after a certain number...1000 is plenty above whatever number that is.* *Or Tom defines.
  17. Thank you. I got 2 flat tires this year. Obama bad.
  18. Thanks Holden Caulfield, who like you, was a serial narcissist.
  19. I could easily poke some holes in all this especially the underlined, but much like I put you in the distasteful position of defending Santorum, you've countered to put me in the position of defending Obama. I have no interest in running to his defense though. When I weigh Obama vs. Santorum, Obama wins. For you, Santorum wins. It doesn't matter because Romney will be the nominee barring some crazy controversy happening. Obama will beat Mitt. Obama would destroy Santorum.
  20. It's absurd that a reasonable person cannot find Santorum's social engineering positions--all faith based--terrible? Or you just don't like that I hyperbolized and said I want 20 more years of Obama? I know what I get with Obama. 5 more years of crappy leadership and an economy that is fixing itself despite the left and right's best efforts to eff it up.
  21. You have me in a checkmate. I couldn't vote for Santorum or Obama. Having just lived through 3 years of Obama, I trust we'd make it through 5 more. I have no such faith in Rick Santorum and his agenda.
  22. Uhh. No. I see that people like him. Those are not people I agree with. If by genuine, you mean that he believes all the crazy **** he says, then he's genuine. I dislike him because of what he stands for. My feeling is based on reason. His desire to expand government into social policy is frightening. I didn't cherry pick his "best of" soundbites above. Those are on his campaign website. He is a scary m-effer. In a sweater vest. You'e the one who says he'll vote for him against Obama. I would rather have 20 more years of Obama than 4 years of Santorum. He will push--hard--for all the crazy crap on his website.
  23. A lot of people fear Rick Santorum in power. His views are grotesque. The people of PA tolerated him for several terms because middle-PA likes that sort of thing--and he brought home a ton of pork. But when push came to shove and he had some real competition to point out what kind of person he was, he got run out of office in the biggest senate defeat in almost 30 years. Santorum is a guy people in PA turned up to vote AGAINST--he was absolutely disliked here. If he's still around when the primary arrives, you'll see. Romney may beat (or almost beat) Santorum in his home state in his own party, which would be pretty embarrassing. I have strong views about controlling people's personal lives and politics. Rick happens to use his faith as his "moral" compass. He has some listed under things he will do as pres and some listed under what he will press Congress to do.
  24. From his website, Rick Santorum: - has a faith first way of making decisions (he calls his campaign the Faith, Family, and Freedom tour for !@#s sake!) - wants to break up the 9th Circuit because he doesn't like it - will ban stem cell research - wants amend the constitution to declare a state of personhood for the unborn (you cannot make this $%^& up--it's right on his website) - wants to amend the constitution to define marriage - wants to reenact don't ask, don't tell - wants to pass a federal law (!!!) permitting prayer at school social functions And there's gems like this, "One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country...Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that's okay, contraception is okay. It's not okay. It's a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be." Not to mention, his love of pork spending (he was for it before he was against it). DiN is pretty close to the truth when he says despicable and with incumbent reelection rates running over 90%, to lose by 17% says the PA voters hated his guts. It was a top 25 all-time loss for an incumbent. Way to go Rick!
  25. I disagree with you disagreeing with him. There's a difference.
