  1. Did you take your one-a-day instead of your meds today? 'the f&*k are you talking about?
  2. I've already indicated that Mitt is probably getting my vote. Doesn't mean he can't dissuade me in the next 6 months. And it doesn't mean I'd EVER vote for Obama. As to your psych remark, I'd like to think it means I don't vote along party lines. I have twice voted for major party candidates in George Bush I (who I liked) and Al Gore (a gag of a vote cast but I was certain Bush II would be a disaster). Other years, I've thrown the Libertarians a bone. There are kooks saying it. I've read some accounts on the left and Log Cabin Republicans stating as much, but I haven't seen a credible report (sources and quotes for those who don't get journalism) that the Romney campaign forced him out.
  3. He wasn't forced out--the Romney people wanted him to stay by all accounts, and I believe that. He was muzzled in order to let the flap over his appointment diminish. Again, that's a cave to the extreme. Grenell, to his credit, got pissed at the campaign and quit.
  4. Yes, I've spent 4 years on hear faking my dislike for Obama. It's the long con but I can't fool you. To more rational posters, either the campaign was caving to pressure or they made an assinine choice in Grenell. Either way, it's not a great moment. Jesus, I actually pretty much agree with this, at least regarding the Dems. Not sure I'd say that the right has its house in order though. Romney is going to have to work to keep the Christianists in league with the independents.
  5. So you think the NY Times made up a direct quote and its multiple sources? Do you want me to pull the Fox and Politico stories too? This is your comeback?
  6. Seems like the story is getting clearer. When the right extremes started to fire up their attacks on Grenell, the Romney campaign muzzled him from talking. Grenell chafed at this muzzling and quit...even though the Romney campaign just wanted him to simmer for a while. Obviously it backfired. Which again goes to my initial point. Romney caving to the extremes instead of telling them to bite him and that he was hired for his expertise on foreign policy.
  7. I absolutely do not think of him as a far right ideologue. The guy signed Romneycare FFS. I just wonder where he will evolve to as this election takes shape. His civil union POV has already shifted to the right. As to the "rankle" statement, most of my post was directed towards the extreme right, and that's what I was talking about.
  8. They are the GOP extreme, which is exactly what I called them. Grenell's twitter post that "Maddow looks like Justin Beiber" [!} isn't why he was pressured to leave. That sort of thing is a ripple within the tsunami of election rhetoric. A fox blog take It's not a big deal in itself but with Mitt already on the wrong side of immigration according to many independents, as well as opposing gay marriage and civil unions (a newish stance for him to help further his career on the national stage), it makes me as an independent wonder how much more of his soul he'll sell to cater to the extremes.
  9. Depends on what the extremists get. I can't vote for Obama. That's a certainty. Whether I will vote for Romney remains to be seen. What I'm saying is that idiocy like this doesn't bode well for his campaign. Hopefully he can nip this stupidity in the bud. What Mitt might have done, if he had balls, is to intercede publicly and say, "This is my guy. We don't agree on everything, including gay marriage, but he knows his sh-- on foreign policy. I am capable of taking his advice on foreign policy while disagreeing with him on another less important topic. So, dear extreme: STFU." Obama is maybe more of a pu**y on gay marriage (his "My view is evolving" sounds like Clinton's "Depends on the definition of "is"") but at least he supports civil unions.
  10. Gay rights is down the list of issues that matter to me, despite how much fun I have debating it since the people against gay marriage are retarded. My concern is that this guy caved to pressure from the extremes--not on the gay marriage issue (Mitt is against gay marriage and civil unions)--but on having a gay guy who supports gay marriage in his circle of advisers. Why should it matter that the spokesperson for foreign affairs, on one issue that he does not give advice on (gay marriage), has a contrary view? Big whup. But here he is getting pressure to resign from his own party. What that says to me is that the extremes will have a lot more say in the Romney campaign than I want. As an Independent who wants Romney to woo him, it's concerning.
  11. Looks like a casting call for a real life Beavis and Butthead movie.
  12. Strange turn here. A month ago, the Romney team hires an openly gay man to be its foreign policy spokesman, knowing that it will raise the hackles of the party. This is a move that intelligent people could care less about. If the guy is qualified (seems to be, served as UN under press secretary of some sort under Bush), he gets the job. Then of course, the extreme right erupts in a furor because this guy supports gay marriage (the horror). Maybe the Romney campaign begins to marginalize him (some stories). Bowing to the pressure, he resigns. By most accounts, the Romney campaign wanted him to stay, although this could be self-serving BS. Not sure what the truth is but in any event, it does not bode well for Romney's reach for the Independents that a qualified gay man got run out of his campaign by the extreme elements of his party. As an Independent, I am wary of what role that element of the party will play in Romney's message and ability to govern.
  13. In his (backhanded) defense, I wasn't sure he would follow through on #1.
  14. Here is what he can take credit for: 1) Got us out of Iraq disaster (pretty much) 2) OBL killing 3) I'll get back to you on #3.
  15. The horseshit remark 3rd's head.
  16. Thank god he said that. It's a colossal waste of money to chase one guy when it's easier to pick off his generals. But if Romney knew where OBL was, he'd kill him. Pretty simple. Going into Iraq was a worse mistake, but that was the last election cycle.
  17. Exactly. I expect the celebration. Atthe same time, saying Romney wouldn't have makes him look stupid.
  18. I love that Bill Clinton is the voice. Obama is going to ride the OBL killing hard. What a jackass.
  19. Oh sorry, you're right. Excellent thread. Well done chap. Please post a link to the new study that wind farms contribute to global warming. Fox just hit your knee with a hammer--time for you to kick like a good little lemming.
  20. Just another in a long line of banal thread starters.
  21. Get a journeyman. They are always out there.
  22. Btw, anyone remember how good Parrish looked in the Gailey offense before he got hurt? This guy is a lot bigger than Parrish and hopefully as a younger guy, won't end up hurt. You need speed opposite Stevie. That said, I was hoping LB. Graham is not huge but also not small. As others have said, he's more like Lee Evans.
