  1. They changed the men's soccer eligibility rules this year to 2 players over age 23'and everyone else under. It gutted the talent and interest in Olympic soccer and that's way more popular than hoops. The IOC could change the rules.
  2. Funny. I watched it in the first media cycle and didn't see it as bad as the hype. I just rewatched it and found it much, much, much more offensive. I wonder if I didn't see the whole clip the first time. In the long clip I just watched, he begins by talking about how hard work only gets you so far. BTW, I have no doubt he's basically a socialist...just thought that the context originally was about paying taxes for using government resources. On rewatching it, I was wrong. God I hope he loses.
  3. I want to see Obama's remarks as related to the right's interpretation that "the government is responsible for business success" but I've not been able to. This is your average election cycle overreaching hype. Obama makes the case that companies that take advantage of government should have to pay the government for that advantage--that seems to be his only point. I keep trying to see more but it's not there.
  4. We've maintained about the same profit each year for the last 4-5, with 6-7% growth in revenue. We've been able to give 3-5% wage increases since 2008, and significantly more for high performers. Our average secretary makes about 60K/year so people here do well even when getting a 4% raise. Our clients have been squeezing us for more discounts and but as people have left, we've just managed to get more done with fewer people instead of hiring. Since payroll is our hugest bill, these individual efficiency increases (people are either getting better or basically take a little less time from Facebook/TBD a day and do more work) have been the key to us maintaining our margins in the face of the discounts. Not sure R&D is slowing significantly in the high tech and pharma industries so I hope we will continue to be OK but we are always on the lookout for slowdowns. Most of the companies I work with are busy as hell right now and see no sign of slowdown. I pay your salary? Mother%^&$er.
  5. It's a political bobble. He screwed up and has apologized. The media pounced on it and Mitt will hear about it for the next 3 months, but it's not that big of a deal, nor is it a big deal that maybe Obama bowed. Political mishaps happen. What's a bigger deal to me is that Mitt has gotten derailed lately. He let himself get bogged down in the Bain talk. He had(has) trouble shaking off the tax returns baloney. It's all crap but he's losing by engaging on it. And he's losing by not hammering on the details of his economic plans. He has them outlined well on his website--he should keep pounding that stuff home. Gun control, gay marriage, tax returns, what his role was at Bain when he was off at the Olympics, and the list goes on...do not help him. I'd say that for the last several weeks of news cycles, Obama is controlling the election tempo.
  6. Why am I supposed to be excited about a lower body injury plagued guy doing bicep curls?
  7. My wife came out most agreeing with Jill Stein, who wants to create 4 bazillion jobs and projects using green energy or something. I told her Stein was nuts and my wife then dug in and may vote for her, which would be great...one less vote for Obama.
  8. Those results should disqualify you from voting.
  9. Sure. But he could do dumb bell presses for the last 2 years too. That tells me nothing that gets me excited about his prospects. If that had been a video of him racing through agility drills, I would have been more excited.
  10. This is true. Tossing around money like candy off a Mardi Gras float definitely calmed things down. But Bush was doing it first--Bush just hadn't yet figured out where it would do the most good when he did QE1. Obama saved the banks balance sheets, which probably helped settle things down more than anything. The Detroit bailout was more or less window dressing so he could say "I saved cars in America." I neither credit him, not particularly blame him, for the economy. McCain would be stuck in a sh%^swamp too.
  11. I said it earlier this year and still believe that Obama will win. Drawing Mitt into this battle over Bain and tax records makes Mitt look like a fool. Romney should answer this stuff once and stay on message. Instead, every day, it's another round of Bain explanations. To me, getting drawn into this is one of his bigger political missteps. The deeper Romney gets drawn into the mud, and he's deeper in it now "You're a liar, no you are" gives an advantage to Obama. Summary of polls: http://www.realclear...1171.html#polls
  12. He's huge but all I pretty much saw there was a guy doing upper body free weights and one set of step-ups. It's the lower part of his body that concerns everyone, not his tricep pressdown.
  13. Yea. I sided with Gary Johnson 87% of the time and don't even know who he is. Must be the Libertarian. Johnson 87 Paul 84 Romney 65 Virgil Goode 61 (who?) Obama 56 Jill Stein 56 (who?) Jimmy McMillin 36...based just on his look, I wish I'd agreed with him more.
  14. I could watch that stumbling fumbling exit 100 times and still love it on the 101st. Fantastic work good fellow.
  15. Other: Merriman will make an impact.
  16. 237 posts on soccer. Keep 'em coming.
  17. Don't kid yourself. He's not a real poster.
  18. Great. More trolling from MDP.
  19. Is it baseball season still? What are we on...game 90 of 150? Wow, what gripping suspense. BTW, the Phillies have nice park for rock concerts. The Wall was good. Springstein should be fun too. The local county baseball organization just came to our soccer club to help them because lacrosse is killing them on recruitment. We'll probably help them out because they are so desperate but it's a sad day when the baseball organization has to beg one of the soccer clubs for help to fight off the lacrosse club. I'm not sure why we'd particularly help all those bored-out-of-their-minds baseball kids when they could play a fun sport like lacrosse, but the rabid baseball dads are willing to give us a bunch of their unused fields so we will throw them a bone. We'll take all their fields over eventually and get rid of all the stupid dusty infields.
  20. I forgot how sensitive you are. Sorry: I'll lighten up on you.
  21. Why are you here in a thread that you don't care about? Is this like when you publicly "quit" PPP? You secretly love it?
  22. That makes a TON of sense. I bet the commentator just screwed up. I've not seen anything questioning Gilmores brains.
  23. Was also there. Never seen a production like that.
  24. If French statistical pharmacounting interests you, I can offer you a degree. I also offer degree programs in communication economic oceonographical general studies.
