Axelrod declared Obama has no plans to balance budget
John Adams replied to VABills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Reducing the deficit 4T in 10 years would be more than is likely to actually happen under any administration. don't believe anyone who says the deficit will be $0 in ten years unless they are raising taxes significantly. -

just got back from Jay-Z Made in America day 1
John Adams replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Didn't see it, and in fact took a detour to drive nowhere near it last night but I'd much rather see Jay Z than Pearl Jam. -

I watched the convention through the RNC website. I recommend that for the DNC too--no commentary. It was much better that way. -

The trick is getting some of the non 100% shill media like Fox and MSNBC to discuss the "fact check" soundbytes and the "micro bump" BS. The later being the lemming adopted word for Ryan bumping Mitt2% in key states, as if 2% is nothing in such a tight race in some states. The alt media is doing a solid job but its reliability bites on the whole. WSJ for print and CNN for TV are my choices. On radio, POTUS on Sirius XM takes pains to be objective. Next week will be Dem friendly but it's solid usually. -

In two FL polls, Romney barely leads and I'm two others, Obama is leading securely. That is in a state Romney simply cannot lose...and he needs others to turn in his favor too. You constantly harp out optimism about the Romney polls. Do you really think Romney is happy with where things are right now? Take a look at RCPs delegate history. It's not changed much. I hope Romneys optimistic vision overcomes the fear and division but I am more realistic than that based on the delegate map. -

RCP has Obama leading in FL, a do or die Romney state, and you think that's good news for Romney. Stop being blind. Despite running a great campaign, Obama is still in control. It's disheartening but true. FL will remain close but Obama will work it much harder than Romney because Romney needs to win so many other states where he is behind. -
Ann Romney would not have been considered a "big 5" speaker. She made herself a big 5 speaker by her performance. Christie was good but they couldn't have predicted that Ann Romney would steal the show and should have been the closer that night. It's heart to go from something so heartfelt to the bombastic, abrasive NJ guy. I'm glad to see that we have enough of a soul that people preferred the former over the later. Christie looked terrible following her. On another night, he would have been fine. I like Christie but he's more suited to attack dog than the more optimistic campaign Romney is trying to run. If Romney wanted to fight the Obama hate and division with hate and division, Christie would be the perfect choice to lead the fight.

The reason Mitt won't win is that he's got to win Florida and do a bunch of other things. Obama wins Florida and it's over. Or Obama can lose Florida and still win a bunch of other ways. And worse, Mitt is not doing all that well in Florida. Obama is going to focus on it like a laser beam. -

I am shocked that Romney isn't rocking in Florida. It's a must win state. If he loses FL, he's screwed. The GM plant was a stretch and a dumb one but I don't care about it. That's one line in a speech. The fact check theme dominates the headlines right now. Reps not combatting that well in the media in the wake of an optimistic hopeful convention. Their punch pulling is admirable though. -

I have checked RCP. He's got an uphill battle. Obama wil still win big. The "fact check" attack is going to curb enthusiasm. It's a shame because Ryan and Romney gave great speeches and offer a compelling vision. -
So? Last I checked, Mitt is the nominee, not Ryan. Should Romney only be able to tout the experiences that he shares with Ryan? Romney had some good moments--his best was [paraphrased] "Obama promised to stop the ocean's rise and heal the planet. I'm promising to help American families."

Absurd. If Mitt wins, it will be by the skin of his teeth. -
Wow, the "I am sure the next guy will be great" tactic so you can later say that you thought he'd be great but he disappointed you. Predictable. Sorry that you hate successful immigrant stories. Very American of you.

Rubio knows how to give a good speech. I'd put him as having an inside track to 2016.
-
Dead wrong. He was pretty funny. That's an old, old man and he was quick and reactive. No teleprompter.

My wife and I are huge Condi fans--we both thought she gave great content but is not made for that sort of thing (courting the public). I hop ethat she's not as done with public service as she says but I don't blame her. Being a professor at Stanford has to beat the hell out of SecDef. I would kill for someone to give a speech without the "pause here" moments. They are awful--it's going to be much worse during the Democratic convention when I'll be disagreeing more.
-
Indeed. But I like that she will have a seat in the cabinet.
-
I like Condi but public speaking is not her thing. I can't believe she was ever a serious VP candidate. No way she'd survive glad handing people for 5 months. SecDef, sure...VP never.
-
He's not his dad, that's for sure. So far, the best speech of the night was the PR governor. He was solid, but no one listened to him.

do you guys think mars one is possible?
John Adams replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Had to google them...a company that wants a manned mission to mars by 2023...They have 4 employees: (1) Entrepenuer who started a windpower company (2) Physiscist who works on telescopes and maybe payload design (3) Marketing person (4) Graphic artist They should get to Mars in no time. -
Please don't evaluate the strength of a relationship on a facebook relationship status. C'mon man: You're broken up. To put it in a context that the pre-Facebook generation would relate to, just because she has your varsity jacket doesn't mean you're still steady.
